this really sums it up… why is blizzard spending all their time nerfing dragon riding so that it feels “authentic” when there are glaring balancing issues that have not been addressed in months?
if blizzard spent more time making changes that ACTUALLY made the game FEEL BETTER, then the nerf to dragon riding speed wouldn’t be so annoying.
well if they are decreasing the speed of dragon riding mounts in azeroth for this purpose
why would they also not increase static flying speeds in the dragon isles to make the dragon isles static flying experience authentic to the static flying experience of azeroth?
so why arent u complaining that we are flying on magical dragons instead of air planes?
Also, here’s a fun fact: static flying is much more like an airplane that dragon riding.
so if you want realism, you should just hop on your engineering Turbo Charged FLying Machine and swim through the sky, same way a realistic air plane does in the real world.
I would like to direct you to a post I made a while back. It summarizes my feelings on how flying should be designed. Most responders didn’t like it. There are aspects in all fantasy that are grounded in realism, that is undeniable. That’s what makes the magic we do see so unusual. Momentum of movement is one of those things that give an authentic feel in a setting. Seeing a gyrocopter or dragon simply stop on a dime from full speed, whip a 180 and accelerate to full speed instantly in the opposite direction is immersion breaking as it violates the ideas we’ve already established with the momentum we experience when on the ground.
well let’s make the entire game of wow entirely realistic since that is so important to you… so only humans, no more raid bosses that are fictional monsters, no more riding on magical dragons (only allowed to sky swim on a mount similar to an airplane), no more enchants on weapons, no more transmogging (people in the real world cannot change their clothing to look differently than the way it was designed by the producer of the clothing), no more magical spells (sorry casters, you’ll have to play a melee class like a rogue that uses real-life daggers), no more healers (casting healing spells is not realistic) you can only use bandages to heal yourself and others.
