Actions Taken to Curb Griefing by Repeatedly Leaving Groups

Today, we issued gameplay suspensions to players who intentionally left Mythic+ groups a great many times in The War Within Season 1. The sort of behavior we actioned was either without regard for the experience of their fellow players, or in some cases, even deliberately intending to harm others’ experiences.

This is detrimental to the community of players who strive to do their part in group content the vast majority of the time.

We understand that occasionally, abandoning runs will happen. Players can experience unexpected real life emergencies, internet outages, or the group collectively deciding to quit the run. Today, we suspended players who repeatedly and recklessly disrupted Mythic+ groups.

We will continue to keep an eye on groups in the future, and repeat offenders are subject to escalating penalties.

Thank you!

It’s about time something was done to punish griefers.

What if I’m the first to leave a group when they clearly won’t be able to complete the DG within the time? Whether due to lack of interruption, lack of defensives, among other reasons? Now I have to ask if I can leave or not? If the group wants to complete, will I have to be forced to stay until the end? I didn’t understand very well.

This is an extremely bad precedent to set. How were you reviewing the performance of others in the group? Did you analyze discussions in chat that occurred? What about individuals who drop group in raids, why is there no action taken against them?

I’m just asking for this to be clarified. Because I don’t want to run the risk of being banned.

Looks like Blizz is taking a stance against this, which is nice.

what is the standard for this? what are the numbers for “a great many?” are players not utilizing interrupts, defensives, cc, considered detrimental to the community too when they cause group wipes and untimed keys?

Did someone brick your key and leave

grabs the popcorn and settles in happily

This is a good thing, but I think they should be more transparent with the criteria.

They’ve implemented a Key Completion vs Key Timing metric… they should make that a toggle or mandatory field when creating a mythic + group. People leaving a key after the group has wiped in a +12 and it’s fairly obvious that it cannot be timed should not be punishable IMO.

About freakin’ time.

While it’s very fair to ask for clarification, I’d much rather see them walk this back and issue an apology. Not only are they changing policy and actioning accounts for actions prior to that change, but this is a terrible change. Leaving a group is not an issue.

Hopefully now they’ll also buff rewards to Mythics. Cause Delves ain’t doing it for me anymore.

Or you know. Nerf Delves. But people hate that for some odd reason.

Burn the leavers to the ground imo…

That should be actionable under these new rules. If leaving a party is a violation, then poor performance should be.

i think this is for the players that leave after one death
