The entire thing is one big mess. Been playing since day one and I’ve never seen anything like this.
Shadowlands looks like a disaster waiting to happen.
I don’t think anyone truly believes any team, no matter the talent or man-power, could balance so many convoluted systems.
I also don’t think this is the label Blizzard should want, that game developer take makes overly complicated games that they can never make work. It makes them look incompetent and they are not, but its like shooting yourself over and over again in the foot. Stop shooting please!
It’s exactly this. No one here would say Blizzard are bad developers. Ambitious to a fault maybe, but not bad. They had the right idea for Shadowlands: “We’ll get out of your way so you can just play the game.” That was what they were going for. But, in their effort to recapture something they couldn’t with Classic (a time where no one knew anything about the game and thus it was more about just getting enough people to show up than bringing the right kind of stuff.) they’ve compounded systems on top of systems on top of systems.
They can’t be afraid of their own game anymore. They have a good game, that’s why so many people are passionate about this. But they also have to realize that this isn’t 2004 anymore. The internet (and information) is more wide spread. Their players are what vanilla wow would have considered seasoned veterans.
So Blizzard: just let us play the game. It’s okay to not have the flashy new toy in borrowed power systems that you throw away after two years. Just give us content to play that’s enjoyable. It’s really that simple. You’re capable of doing this, you’ve PROVEN it with Torghast. We don’t need super complex multi-layered systems of progression to keep us entertained. You should have put all that time you’ve taken on making covenants/conduits work and put it into the unpruning. That was the real victim of Shadowlands. But at this point I’m moving into rant territory so I’ll just stop.
Yesterday I was talking with a couple of people in my guild about corruption. One of them said they’d miss ineffable truth. Another said he’d miss mastery stacking. Someone said they’d miss Twilight Dev.
I said that I’m not going to miss corruption at all, because they nerfed the only fun thing my spec was able to do with corruption back in April by nerfing the talent itself, not the system.
We need more development time put into our classes and not into these systems that get scrapped after only a few months to two years. Almost every spec in this game has a dead talent row, or multiple dead talent rows, where there’s not really a choice because one is so obviously far ahead of the others. Talents have always been the system meant to diversify builds, and yet we’re moving away from that with covenants, soulbinds, legendaries, and all the other junk that’s being piled on us in Shadowlands. Make classes fun to play at their base level again. Give us a real unpruning, not just a lights show of “look you have auras back!”

And then they put 2 huge obstacles in our way. Covenant swapping restrictions and a 1 week cooldown on conduits.
The exact opposite of getting out of our way.
hello its me a pull the ripcord supporter
just coming here to pull a ripcord, have a nice day!
#PullTheRipcord
Pull the ripcord pls Blizz pls
I was watching the Preach vid about it this morning before going to work .
Before anyone gets on the screw Preach and the 1% min/maxers .
He made a valid point . If there are issues in the raids and with the systems . It is better they delay and fix them now then wait until after launch .
If they wait until after launch like they have with Legion and BfA the same thing is going to happen and this was more so with BfA , content will be cut out because of time needed to fix the problems.
Let Blizz fix the problems as much as they can now before release and maybe we will get more actual content this expansion.
#pulltheripcord
Just dropping back in to request an uncoupling of the expression of your character from the performance of your character, and not soft-locking your character into one avenue of end-game content.
The system is a no-win design. You can look good, but you’ll play poorly. You can play well, but look horrid. You can perform well in raids, but you are handicapped when doing M+ after.
-There is no choice that doesn’t leave the player with regrets. Meaningful choice is
not: “which serving of discontent will I choose”.
Really loading those straws.
Here’s the ripcord:
- Talents rows have two talents instead of three
- Talents are always active abilities now
- Glyphs are back in the third column
- Glpyhs are always passive modifiers for existing abilities
- Covenant choice modifies the look and feel of the talent actives
- Covenant class abilities moved to talents
- Conduits are gone
- Soulbinds are legion style world only helper NPCs that you can fight alongside in the open world only
#PulltheRipcord, Happy new week everyone

Weekly good luck to Blizzard in balancing these systems. Hope that you #pullTheRipCord and balance away. I do not want my class theme to be destroyed by an expansion gimmick theme that will go away in two years. I want to play the covenant that I care about most but will choose the covenant that ends up being the best for the content I like to play. Please Blizzard do not ruin my rpg like this.
As much as I would hate to lose the vampire covenant, cause aesthetically I love them, I agree pull the rip cord. Get rid of covenants all together or make them ONLY for aesthetics.
Wait, they changed conduits again to feedback.
Where are all the people who said they don’t listen to feedback?
#PullTheRipcord
Do you want them to pull the ripcord or are you optimistic about the outcome?
Nope not optimistic at all .
9.1 they will bring in a new system to help with the old systems and by 9.1.5 they will have a fix for that new system which will be fixed by the new system coming in 9.2 and so on .
It’s been their track record of the last few expansions.
Feedback matters!
Beta testers matter!
#PullTheRipcord!
Keep it coming:
Add another notch to the belt lads.
He’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaccccckkkkkk
