The crux of the issue is still penalization for not meshing with those other people in playstyle.

Pull too little? You can get kicked. Is that fine? Sure. Should you be penalized for 30 minutes? No.
Pull too much? You can get kicked. Is that fine? Sure. Should you be penalized for 30 minutes? No.
Pull the boss with some trash? You can get kicked. Is that fine? Sure. Should you be penalized for 30 minutes? No.
Talk a lot? You can get kicked. Is that fine? Sure. Should you be penalized for 30 minutes? No.
Radio silent, even when directly asked something? You can get kicked. Is that fine? Sure. Should you be penalized for 30 minutes? No.
Below the tank in DPS? You can get kicked. Is that fine? Sure. Should you be penalized for 30 minutes? No.
Ripping aggro off the tank? You can get kicked. Is that fine? Sure. Should you be penalized for 30 minutes? No.

They take considerably more actions now compared to before. Before, to catch any account penalty at all you had to be a complete stain on humanity. Now just simple namecalling (albiet with profanity) can catch you 14 days.

I mean, if you pulled what you knew you could pull, but the healer wasn’t comfortable with that, nor were the DPS. They had every right to kick you.

Just because you don’t think that’s fair, doesn’t mean they were abusing the system. You should have asked if the group was comfortable with big pulls first instead of instantly assuming they’d be okay with it because you want to be Billy Bigshot.

The people who want the debuff to stay are 100% vote kicking people. They have no dog in the race, even defending it makes no sense.

Out of the 10(ish) times i’ve seen someone vote-kicked in TWW, be it in an LFR or in a dungeon, only once were they worthy of deserter. And that was a priest only refreshing their dot in lfr. I usually voted no, but the others voted yes.

You could call it anecdotal all you want, but then so is any research.

The question then becomes, would I rather the semi-afk priest not get deserter if the other 9 wouldn’t have as well? Yes.

That’s nonsense. I’ve been doing LFG on multiple alts since it existed. I never get kicked unless I’m obviously failing. I only vote others for obvious failures or being afk. Most days I don’t even see a vote kick in any of my groups. I’ve got thousands of runs worth of experience that back up the system working and rarely failing.

This is about the increasing number of people that refuse to improve their skills and just want to be carried. They don’t like that people have an option to not waste their time.

The social contract was just a reiteration of the rules placed in everyone’s face - it wasn’t anything new.

No - they have less support. Putting the deserter debuff is one way they can lighten their own work load. Instead of waiting for complaints.

The Debuff definitely has good cause to exist - the phasing issues need to be dealt with, though.

If someone wants to grief groups, they can get kicked and get in a new group. And get kicked again. If they continue doing it, apply an account penalty if they get reported.

That is ludicrous. You basically want to cause grief to an untold amount of people until some one at Blizzard does something about it?
