Please blacklist covid/corona from player names

So you think someone making a name needs to be mindful of every persons personal experience? Don’t be ridiculous.
Maybe I was beaten as a child by an abusive mother who yelled “I told you so!” At me while she beat me with a shovel. Omg your name is so insensitive!

You can’t keep tacky people from being tacky. It’s sad that people need attention so much that they do things like that for it. Best to point, laugh, belittle, shame, and move on so they know how pathetic it is

I had a childhood bully named Aveldruid. Your name is offensive to me. If you don’t change it then you have no empathy.

Yep, it was kind of the same here in Nebraska. First person we heard, who brought it back, was someone who vacationed/visited California.

But then, like I said, suddenly an entire nursing home has it. None of the workers knew they had it. So it is more widespread than we think.

I’m still very suspicious about the Chinese graduate students who were buying all of the masks, at the Big Box Hardware store I work at, roughly a month ago. They had no outward signs either, while visiting here (nor were they wearing masks, or anything.) But I’ve had this lingering cold/cough thing for a month, which really never gets worse or has a fever. Even so, I’m kind of paranoid.

I wouldn’t name something coronavirus or covid right now.

But at what point does it become acceptable?

If I saw a DK named Ebola I’d probably smirk.

I also work in a hospital where whenever someone coughs someone around the corner shouts, “CORONAVIRUS!”

It’s how people cope.

Granted, these same people wouldn’t yell that if they knew someone in the area lost someone to it.

In general I don’t think it should be censored. Seems a little silly. But I also don’t necessarily condone it at this moment either.

I named my character after myself in real life! It was me! You still wash your face in toilet water like I trained you to as a kid? Lol

I really don’t think we should be going after people because of their names >.<

It’s simply an individual trying to dictate to other people how they’re allowed to live their lives.

Freedom of Speech is a two way street…
People, apart from saying they have a bomb or are going to do something bad to someone… are in their right to say what they say.

But others are in their right to voice their displeasure, and companies are in their right to punish, sue, close down, or any other act that is within their right if said thing is done on their property, on their venue, violation of contract, or in the intellectual property.

It’s not a free-for-all to do everything…

Just saying. Not specifically for this name debate but in general, too many people get the ‘‘freedom of speech’’ thing mixed up.

If you weren’t being triggered by the names, you wouldn’t be publicly advocating for further censorship surrounding those names.

I don’t think you guys understand what freedom of speech means exactly because you pew it constantly.
Freedom of speech is in regards to being able to say whatever you want without being censored or restrained by the government. This is why, if you run around with a name tag “corona master” while at work, your employer is free to fire you for acting in a way which would make them disreputable.

In other cases, such as yelling fire, or bomb, even if no one reacts, you can still be prosecuted because of the potential for harm.

As for the matter of westboro baptist, in many cases there were counter protesters which kept them away from said funerals, or barriers put in place, or threat of legal action made toward them. So…yes…they could picket, but not in a way which could result in violence or harm being created.

Hence, my statement above.
Sure, you can make a joke in poor taste, but don’t expect to be free from consequences or claim it is your right to be able to offend someone.
Let alone when it comes to video games, nothing of freedom of speech applies.

That doesn’t make them a liar. They can be acting in the interest of others.

Some methods of coping are unhealthy for the individual, or those around them.

Bernie sanders wasn’t an african american suffering racism, but he did act with them regarding Civil rights. You don’t need to be avictim of something to advocate against something.

How does saying “Hey, that may be offensive and you should refrain from now” impede upon the way you live your life?
Honest question.

I agree, even if I don’t necessarily agree with the sense of humor behind it.

Pardon me while I laugh hysterically at the fact that you brought that clown up in a conversation about censorship and hurt feelings.

Clever, gotta give points there :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m glad we agree you can walk around with said name tag. I don’t see how you’re disagreeing with me. Do you think a place I don’t work will fire me if I wear that name tag? Definitely lying. Definitely a triggered snowflake. Just because you think someone’s coping mechanism is unhealthy doesn’t mean that it is, and you have neither the duty or authority to force them to stop. Words are just words. If you can’t handle seeing words you don’t like, get off the internet and never leave your house. It’s scary out there in the real world.

Word, every time I cough on my vape I think to myself, “is this how it starts?” I heard those two people were from the little town I live in, but apparently they quarantined and are now in county hospital. My girlfriend works in a prison and they basically take her temperature every morning before they let her in and make her wear the masks and gloves and all that, and they don’t see any prisoners except through telewhatsis. I have other friends in the healthcare industry going through similar measures. My brother’s a doctor and he’s still working. Good man in a crisis.

Hate to do it, but as soon as I even know someone who knows someone, no one might see me for a little bit. I’ll have to start getting into video chatting or something. Cause see, regular flu messed my lungs up permanently 3 years ago, don’t want to take the chance. 5 years ago I’d have probably been like “what happens happens” and just continued on hermiting and doing low risk stuff but just when I really started enjoying life (getting married this year, first serious relationship, #lifebeginsat40) I suddenly feel like I could have a lot to lose if I’m not extra careful.

Apologies, I did not know Bernie Sanders was a trigger for you. Sorry I upset you.

Nice projection, lol.

He isn’t a ‘trigger’ to me, he’s a joke to me. Hence why I said I’d have a hysterical laugh @ you mentioning him.

There you are. Finally found you! Lol. Nice name btw :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
