I’d put minimal effort into engaging that one, he’s just here to troll and annoy people.

sorry but there is no reason to expand on the already implemented player housing feature with garrisons

thank you for your input though, friend
i hope you have a lovely day

I hope we can bring our little adopted dog from the farm to our new houses too!

I’d be interested in having a little garden like the Tiller farm, but cautious about it growing anything useful for gaming purposes. The last thing we want is for the player housing to be turned into another resource factory like garrisons.

this player brought up a great point
we had player housing at the tiller’s farm in MoP, then more player housing in Wod with garrisons.

so why are you seeking a third rendition of player housing when there already are two perfectly acceptable and lovely player housing features located in the game?

We had perfectly acceptable version of flight. They just put a bunch of energy into making another version of flight.

We had a perfectly acceptable version of professions. They just put a bunch of energy into changing the whole thing.

The existence of system A does not prohibit the creation of System B.

how many threads have you seen regarding dragon riding where people stated that dragon riding literally made them physically ill?

Anyone else getting Motion Sickness with Dragon Flying and any solutions? - Community / General Discussion - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)

too many for me to count

you think that the current profession system was a step forward and good for professions?

it really wasn’t.

Professions seem to be ruined now - Gameplay / Professions - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)

why should the developers waste their time making a new player housing system when we already have existing player housing systems in the game that are perfectly acceptable for everything that people in this thread have asked for:

like why not just enjoy the current juke box you have inside of your current player house which is located on the continent of draenor???

Obnoxious bad faith troll aside, I’d hope we could get an iteration of the “watch cutscenes” NPC in housing too. Maybe a tv screen from engineers, or a crystal ball from enchanters?

Isn’t Draenor in an alternate timeline?

I think a lot of people would like to see player housing in Azeroth, not Draenor.

what would be the practical difference though?

it would still be the same content just in a different place.

if people are really adamant about having player housing in their current timeline, just have the developers rename Draenor to New Azeroth

An alternate timeline that’s now advanced 50 years from when we were there, is completely inaccessible, and was falling apart last time we saw it.

It’s about as far removed from canon as a place can be lol

A moot point regardless, since garrisons obviously weren’t player housing.

A few.

What does that have to do with anything other than to prove maybe Blizzard didn’t get it right for some players, just like they didn’t get garrisons right for some players?

Its quality is not the point.

Its existence was the point. They found time in their supposedly quite limited pipeline to do it, and will now have to squeeze even more time out of that pipeline in the future because it’s a much more complicated system for them to scale going forward.

For the same reason they waste time re-tooling anything: They want to.

That’s what’s holding up player housing. The will to do it, not talent or resources.

90-95% of the items they’d need to populate the system are already built in the course of making all the background scenery and widgets they’d be making anyway.

Scribes could make that trendy post-recession “Word Art” that people put on the sterile grey walls of their houses to remind them of the positive feelings that real decor is supposed to evoke.

yeah the developers took a lot of time and effort and money and put that into re-developing the profession system. the profession system was a flop and that time/money/resources/effort was all wasted.

do you really think they are gonna try to do that a third time with player housing when garrisons already exist?

but why would blizzard have “the will” to reinvent garrisons when their past “re-inventions” have turned out so poorly for them.

it would be better for blizzard to just work on new and different systems rather than try to re-hash old ones, especially since garrisons were amazing and everyone loved that player housing (except for the six or seven people complaining in this thread, of course).

The vast majority of the assets that could be used for Player Housing are already in the game. The only thing they need to develop at this point is the system itself. All of the furniture, decorations, etc
those assets all basically already exist. It’s just a matter of creating a space and system for the players to interact with them.

exactly, all of this stuff already exists in the game right now
there is no need to make a second version of player housing when everyone can just go to their garrisons after stopping at the iron forge inn to purchase some lovely alcoholic beverages for five silver a piece and then inviting all their friends over to their house for a wine tasting party

At this point, no, I don’t think they will. They’ll pull their pockets out, do their elephant impression, and talk about how their poor indie studio just can’t manage to do the things studios with a fraction of the money can do. If they had any shame, they’d be embarrassed, but if there’s anything the last two years taught us, shame is in short supply among the folks running Blizzard.

I fully expect the MS purchase of Activision will put this game into maintenance mode.

The will of money made by a new system they could tie to microtransactions might do it, but I don’t think it will happen at all.
