Personal Loot is killing the game for me

With master loot, people became way too greedy, gave gear to their boyfriend/girlfriend, or best friends. I believe that it would be ok as far as if it was a full Guild group, but even then, you’de have the people in the guild that are getting the most loot because of how they are best buds, ect.

I like personal loot. No more getting ninja looted or forced to give items to someone. I think guild groups or longtime friends groups should be able to pick the loot rules. I believe people should be able to opt out and pick personal loot and not have it announced to people unless you would like to offer it up.

Because then it will basically remove personal loot

(“trade that item that just dropped or be kicked from raid/demoted to reserve etc. pay gold to keep item etc”)

Let me opt out of the stupid restrictions so that I can actually choose what to do with my personal loot then. Because personal loot being mostly vendor trash is not helpful to my guild or groups.

Yes, it was an abuse problem. The Game Director said in a Q&A it was about having “more control, as an individual, over your fate. … What group & master loot mean for many people is that their rewards are at the mercy of others in ways that often AREN’T FAIR.” See this post and the video time-mark referenced there.

Many disagree about it’s removal, but if it was perceived as not fair to the vast majority by the dev team, then it’s removal would be to restore that sense of fairness. Ion also said it would feel bad to those running sole master looter and those participating on a loot council, but he said tradeability still allows this to a large extent (not perfect), but that this was preferable for the majority. Ion also explicitly said “this change wasn’t made to stop or to curb high-end split raiding” which I would think is related to your assertion it was about slowing down gearing, but maybe not.

This sounds like a great compromise! I would be 100% in favor as long as the 20 raid members are also all in the same guild.

This right here. The restrictions on loot trading make no sense. Being able to trade loot was something that made two people happy at once. Both obviously participated in whatever was just killed so it’s not like the loot is unearned. And there is a tiny bit of joy in tossing a bit of loot to someone else who needs it, even if they’re a total stranger.

I never understood why these kinds of exchanges get blocked. They make the game more enjoyable for everyone involved.

What of the run is 99% guild and only need to pug a few players and the only way for pugs to get invite is to join the guild temporarily so they can set loot to NL and waste the pug time?
Sorry no ML is overall better for the community ML have screw one player at some point. They should make it even so that if you get a loot it doesn’t show up in chat so no one knows.
Especially hate when people ask if they can have my loot.

There is currently nothing restricting you from running a 100% guild run with ML. When your guildies get a piece of loot, make it clear that it doesn’t belong to them and it will be distributed according to ML guidelines.

See, simple. I personally don’t ever want to go back to playing in a ML environment.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It doesn’t have to be either or. They could have personal loot as default with the option to have master loot. That way people can play how they want to.

Like when they announced flying was being permanently removed back in WoD, right? They wouldn’t have removed flying if it wasn’t a problem.

OR… they made a massive mistake. Just like when they removed looting options.

“Massive” lol

I get that. As I barely have a 170 ( one purple item being a purchase from the AH ) item level after a number of world quests, a bit of LFR and other quests I would say they went a bit to far. I may just enjoy leveling other characters for now and see what later patches bring.

In my opinion another good example of Blizzard taking feedback to serious. The small % of top level raiders whine about titan fordge and casuals don’t need that level of loot crap. Yet somehow the argument of skill over item level still exists. If that was the case then who cares what item level a casual has??? Case of want your cake and everyone else’s you think is beneath you too.

I remember back in the day once my main was fully geared. I kept raiding cause I enjoyed raiding. I started focusing more on an alt and if need be, I’d bring out a main to help clear if issues came up. Didn’t most people do this? This slow down of gearing just kills the fun for me. I hated BFA for too much loot and now it feels like a harsh turn in the other direction.

What a lot of non-raiders don’t realize is that even after the last boss goes down on Mythic, it takes 3 months of farm after that to get everyone on the progression team their mounts.

During that farm period, new trials can come in to the guild, but they weren’t even there for progression. So no, they DIDN’T help on progression to take down the boss.

When people have been working on a very large raid tier on Mythic for 6 months, and the mounts finally start coming in as a reward, those mounts need to go to the people who have been working on the raid for 6 months.

Although we do what we can to vet people, if we’ve just met somebody, we aren’t going to risk them turning out to be a jerk and randomly having a mount fall into their pockets when they weren’t even there for progression on the boss. So we won’t bring them on the end boss until everyone on the progression team has their mounts. They’ll get their mount after that, of course.

And this is VERY standard, these days.

What they put into their character is irrelevant, what matters is what the TEAM has put into finally clearing the raid.

But this is a good illustration of the difference between people who want loot options and those who don’t:

  • People who favor loot options care about the team and the group. The team takes priority.
  • People who favor only personal loot only care about themselves. What did I do? What’s in it for ME? But that attitude just doesn’t work for team-oriented activities like Mythic.

If you mean we don’t care about random posters in General Discussion who want to dictate what we do… you’re right. Mind your own business.

What a bad take. The team cares about the team. The team wants to help the team. That’s the whole point.

We can keep personal loot, that’s fine. I want the option to opt-out of the restrictions, because I want to be able to give things away. Vendoring something for some piddly amount of gold doesn’t help my team, and it doesn’t feel good either.

Thank you for sharing this. This is exactly the heart of the issue, and it’s precisely why I prefer Personal Loot.

No more hoping that someone won’t screw me out of a drop I’ve waited my turn for. No more having people who definitely don’t give a damn about me in comparison to their friends decide my fate. No more pressure to make sure I’m kissing up to the right people at all times just so I can progress my character and, in turn, remain relevant enough to not bench.

Yeah, everyone here has the perfect group of friends that would never do anything ever. But are you gonna include the rest of us in that tightly knit group? Of course not. So, I don’t want my ability to progress to be tied to them, either.

With that being said, this is why I have never had an issue with being able to PvP or spam M+ dungeons for loot. And, again, I know my stance isn’t the “correct” one, because I know that honest raiders in full groups are punished for this in a way. I know that they want to just raid for their gear and don’t want to do content they don’t want to do for loot. I completely empathize with that, so I wouldn’t mind if full guilds had the option. But for those of us without that privilege, personal loot has done wonders.

This doesn’t even make sense. You hated BfA for giving “too much” loot, even though you raided because you enjoyed raiding & happily geared alts to raid as well? What?
