I’ve spent the past two days trying to confirm, via any channel (this forum, customer support forum, Fwoibles on twitter, ticket opened via in-game help function) if there will be a point in time when a player on Grobbulus can purchase a paid server transfer and utilize it to move to one of the virtual realms ‘hubbed’ on Pagle. Fwoibles initial blue post does not mention this, and simply indicates that the virtual realms will be locked, except for Free Character Migrations, for a specified period of time. That period of time has passed, but any attempt to utilize a paid transfer from Grobbulus to a virtual realm triggers an error message stating that the realm is not accepting character transfers at this time.
I had a transfer available on my account from a prior purchase, and tried each of the virtual realms, with the same result, but on trying Pagle, succeeded. As the error message only appears AFTER the ‘Are you sure? You can’t undo your realm selection after this point.’ warning, my character was successfully transferred to Pagle.
If our only option as players desiring to leave Grobbulus is Pagle, we will likely not be able to claim the same names as our current Grobbulus characters, which (per Fwoibles post-announcement-updates) seems to be something that Blizzard is trying to avoid doing to people. But, with the virtual servers not accepting even a PAID transfer from Grobbulus, that is the position we are stuck in.
I’m attempting to confirm, one way or another, whether this is intended (Grobb → Pagle ONLY, no virtual servers) or if its a bug or malfunction (with intended behavior being Grobb → Pagle/Galakras/Nazgrim/Lei Shen/Raden via paid transfer). The sale on services ends soon, and regardless of what the answer is, guilds need time to discuss it and work out feasibility, especially for those of us with many characters. Keeping us in the dark, or stonewalling the question, or even just putting it on the back burner is a disservice to those of us trying to understand a brand-new, never-before-seen solution implemented on the fly, and to figure out how to keep our playergroup together in response to it.
Please, if a concrete answer from Blizzard exists somewhere I’ve been unable to find, link me to it. Else, here’s hoping someone from the Blizz team can give an answer.
