I have been going through a lot of the idea’s about where things are headed and everything I read doesn’t seem to take in the the glaringly obvious subplot that has also been playing out between all these individuals. They are all part of a much bigger end game that has been playing out over several expansions in one form or another between each of them either directly or indirectly but you could always see there was something else going on that had not been fully understood.
So I started looking at these characters and how they have interacted and their course throughout their introduction and the points in which their destinies entwined in the one true battle for Azeroth and in to the what I think will be the next expansion for World of Warcraft which will consist of the Void realm and true Black Empire within that realm. It will also have us also travelling to the Dragon Isles which is either going to be inside the Void Realm and will be the opposing force to the Black Empire and N’Zoth’s power base.
So based on that here is what I think is actually happening between these characters and how it could play out for us leading in to the next expansion itself.
Sylvanus has been somehow ahead of the curve and seemed to know more about what was going on. She was aware of many things and only ever gave just the right amount of information to progress the steps that she needed and nothing else. However, you could see she new a lot more than she was divulging. In some way I think she actually knew more about N’Zoth and Xal’atath and even N’Zoth’s grand plan in some way using us and Azshara to free him.
Blizzard has mentioned that they WON’T be doing another HORDE corrupted Warchief plot line, and did mention something about somehow Sylvanus redeeming herself. So now back to my original point the obvious subplot between Sylvanus and Calia Menethil these two are entwined and their destinies locked together ever since Sylvanus killed her the path has been set in Motion.
With Calia being resurrected and now an Undead touch by the Light she is the direct opposed concept to Sylvanus who was resurrected and touch by Darkness (or Death).
So what we have is a Light vs Dark playing out however I think there is more to this specially when we have the Black Dragonflight involved and there is much bigger things happening. What if Nyalotha helps us to understand with Wrathion how the void can be both Light and Dark and can be used to combat and weaken N’Zoth. I am saying Weaken because I am pretty confident that we will only Weaken N’Zoth in our final battle and he will retreat to the Black Empire inside the Void Realm to work through his longer running game plan that has been playing out all this time unbeknown to us.
It is apparent that N’Zoth knew something about the Black Dragonflight and that they could be an issue for him so he made sure to prevent that risk from happening by controlling and corrupting them preventing the Dragonflight from ever discovering that real truth. If we know that we have the concepts of Light/Dark, Live/Death, Shadow/Void are just plays on a similar over arching concept of Good vs Evil however, we are shown that either can be good or evil so Light can be Evil and Dark can get Good.
So what about the Dragonflight well they are Black which could align them to Shadow/Void correct what if they are the Dragonflight that can actually utilize the higher powers of the Void and Shadow itself to battle N’Zoth and this is the power he truly fears and doesn’t want anyone to figure out or know of because it’s the one thing that can actually kill him. All other things just weaken him so like the other Old Gods we have killed we only killed their Avatar really and not the one true form. Additionally we also had to use some special item or power to only remove them last remaining vessel from Azeroth we never killed one in it’s true complete form. What we are going up against is an Old God’s True complete form and not a vessel like we have seen before so it will require something very special and unique.
So hence, this is where I think Nyalotha will be the key to then next phases after she meets Wrathion and both of them discover the whole truth and how Nyalotha individually and the Black Dragonflight for Wrathion have been manipulated all the time just to ensure they didn’t ever discover the one thing N’Zoth fears most is them discovering and working out what actually is their true power. This will lead in to why the Black Dragonflight is actually know as the Defenders of Azeroth. Azeroth I think essentially bestowed the dragonflight to combat this type of threat to her directly and in some she gives them the power to control the shadow/void in a form that counters N’Zoth directly. This however is only enough to actually weaken N’Zoth and not directly kill him so he has to retreat to the Void realm. However, it’s possible that in the Void Realm the combination of Shadow and Void together is what can ultimately kill N’Zoth, hence his overarching fear of Wrathion and the manipulation and control of Nyalotha.
Wrathion and Nyalotha will be the catalyst and give us the method to enter the Void realm to combat and fight the Black Empire directly.
We know that there is talk of the fabled Dragon Isles and Wrathion has been searching for it but it’s never found. Well this is why I think that the Dragon Isles is actually a location within the Void itself. So we have the Black Empire and the Dragon Isles and the two key sides to a much greater war that has been going on for eons. So this will form the basis of the next expansion we may however, get a taste of it or a prelude in someway but it will be a big part of the next major expansion release IMHO. Mainly because it will have something to do with the Dragonflights and specifically the Black Dragonflight. Wrathion will discover that the Black Dragonflight was actually born from the Void and that they are actually Void touched dragons or something like that.
One other thing that I thought about is that if the N’Zoth and the other old gods feared something about the Black Dragonflight which pushed them to ensure that the full truth never be found by corrupting and causing the black dragonflight to be constantly fighting itself. What if Nyalotha is actually a Black Dragonflight but is the entity which Azeroth pulled through from the Void to create the Black Dragonflight itself and this information was passed down but N’Zoth caused the loss of this information through his actions and in essence prevented Azeroth plan of ensuring she had something that could defend her against him be nullified and unware of the truth. So effectively Nyalotha could be the other side of the same coin she could actually be the Black Dragonflights true Mother Aspect and was manipulated and trapped all this time by N’Zoth because he had to ensure that she also didn’t discover the truth. So by trapping Nyalotha in Xal’atath Dagger it prevented her ever meeting the Black Dragonflight and that supposed risk for ever happening. The key thing is that Nyalotha seems to have the ability to create a portal to the void from Azeroth and enter it. However, she also can create a portal to Azeroth from within the void realm. So she may not have been aware of what Azeroth actually did in relation to the Black Dragonflight but, was prevented from ever discovering it if she ever decided to take a quick trip to Azeroth and then see one of her kin etc. By trapping her in the dagger is prevented her discovering all of the suttle things he was doing to ensure the Black Dragonflight wouldn’t be the effectual defence that Azeroth had designed them to be.
So what N’Zoth fears ultimately is Nyalotha and Wrathion hooking up because they are able to control and allow the ability to enter and leave the void which is something he can also do before he was imprisoned. However, it’s inside the Void realm where he actually is capable of being killed and because of this beings which he doesn’t control and are capable of opening portals to the void are a a very dangerous prospect. Additionally he didn’t want Nyalotha to take Xal’tath because it’s quite likely that Xal’tath and his own dislike for N’Zoth would have attempted to get Nyalotha to assist him but also likely explained the real truth and what N’Zoth has been up to all this time. By N’Zoth keeping Xal’tath he essentially controls that aspect for now I guess is his thinking.
So we will see N’Zoth’s release and rise in BFA but I think he is still actually weakend in some way and needs time to recover hence, the reason he did not instantly come screaming up in to Azeroth. To this end I think this more likely relates to the line that mentioned ‘All Eyes open’. We know that there are several parts to N’Zoth all over Azeroth and we have seen his eyes in all of those locations. If we consider that N’Zoth is likely close to an entity who is the likely around almost the same size as Azeroth itself. He is still likely partially trapped within Azeroth and he needs do something to empower himself enough. This will be what we prevent I am guessing in the long run we will fight him but only remove that element which is empowering him and ultimately what will be the thing that gives him the strength to break free and bring about his grand plans for Azeroth. By taking this away from him he will obviously retreat to the Void realm and the Black Empire to think about and commence his next set of plans.
However, in terms of Sylvanus and Calia this is the Light vs Dark elements playing out as well and I have this feeling that Calia will fall to madness and start being manipulated by N’Zoth so the Light will show it’s other not so friendly side through her. Sylvanus will be the one being who is from the Darkness that is able to fix the problem in someway and will Cleanse Calia of the corrupted touch of N’Zoth and in this process she redeems herself. There will be some twist however and I think Sylvanus will become something else entirely that is a being that is both Darkness and Light in one etc. Calia wont shake of the corruption from N’Zoth and will turn to the Horde based on the fact Sylvanus helped her and I am guessing that there was some bargain made between them that Calia takes over ruling the Undead for the Horde and becomes their representative. So all the Alliance players calling out for Light touched undead race it’s a big fat NOPE this is a subplot to replace Sylvanus and put a new power in charge of the Horde Undead that being Calia herself now part of the Horde
