Yea my main problem is that Blizzard completely refused to continue the night elf story after the Burning of Teldrassil and made them forgive the horde. Not continuing the story is already bad, but making the night elves forgive the horde for absolutely no reason is complete bullsh*t.
They forced horde players in the BfA pre patch to be part of killing thousands of innocents and they forced NE fans to watch their race get utterly destroyed just to never talk about it and never continue it againâŠ

I mena they couldâve do the destruction and all if they would get a proper story instead which also drives them away from their treehugger image, but Blizz preferred to give them a little candy with Darkshore, where they just get some of their lands back in the end, and give the main story to Saurfang and Jaina. Thatâs the most retarded thing they couldâve done, especially since itâs just a MoP repeat.

They have steered away from so many stories and left them so incomplete in BFA. But the resolution of the War of Thorns has hands down been the worst. A major shock value event, that got ignored after the fact.

Yeah it annoys me that you canât chose to walk away from helping Sylvanas in that instanceâŠespeacially since I imagine some of my characters probably would have. Others wouldnât have caredâŠit would have been nice to have the option to say no.

I canât figure out why my Night Elf character would even be questing on KT. Theyâve got much more important battles to fight and Anduin basically gave them the finger so they donât have bodies to spare.

Nahh. They just have 5+ elven races to use them as âpunching bags.â
Really?
My observation was that Someone in blizz made the artwork of Sylvanas standing on darkshore, looking out at the Burning Tree and thought âyeah, letâs go petal to the medal on this!â Not considering how to resolve it, but felt more or less as though they needed a faction pride event. <â- the way they tried to build that âfactionâ pride has been so much more damaging for the players than any good the âmarketingâ ever did.

Yes. There were so many other ways to get a faction war without War of Thorns and Battle of Lordaeron, but the Story team needed their âgut wrenching GOTâ story parallels and nothing was going to slow them down. Those two events had the highest possible shock value.

I agree. Gennâs attack on the Forsaken in Legion would have been a really easy way, considering how bonkers Sylvanas usually goes to protect them and how she now has a personal hate-on for Genn because he personally doomed the Forsaken to dying out. That would have been PLENTY of reason and would have allowed that the Alliance were the aggressors and the Horde didnât get a randomly genocidal Warchief to lose again for an expac.
But no. Wipe out the most interesting Alliance race while all the Horde stand around like they donât remember what happened when they followed Garrosh into this stuff.

Only one type of elf has been repeatedly dumped on, burned, tortured, humiliated, and mocked in the recent expansions, and it isnât void elves, blood elves, or nightborne.
The night elves were already being ruined in cata/mop, but once the nighborne model came out and Horde essentially had night elf models without the âhorrible inconvenienceâ of having Alliance story lines attached to them, the developers/writers decided just to trash night elves all together.
Why bother with writing content for 40% of your paying customers, when you can just duplicate one of the Allianceâs favorite races and retcon into existence a new race with all the same features and history + a giant new city that isnât on fire and give it to your favorite faction?
Its kind of sickening, TBH. I will not be buying another expansion from them until the NE are redeemed. Its obviously not happening this coming expansion (considering they specifically decided to brag about all the NE souls being in hell and tortured during BlizconâŠooo more âedgeâ for the Horde), so Iâll stick to classic.

Yea I liked that part. They showed off the burning of Teldrassil for people to cheer and then told us that those innocents that died will forever suffer in the maw just to put slightly more salt into the wound. They basically refuse to continue the story while at the sime time thinking about how they can make it even worse afterwards.

Alliance writing at itâs finest. Donât forget Tyrande and Malfurion are busy picking their noses watching while Anduin hands over all of his last soldiers to his bff Saurfang and co. while not being able to spare any help for the Night Elves.
I am sure there will be some lore thing off screen for the Alliance to be happy about or something in a book or in a comic. The Alliance is not allowed to have things in game, it takes away from the badass faction of the Horde.

Alliance? Maybe
Night Elves? No way
Besides, I think the next novels/comics will be all about Sylvanas, anyway.
It was more of a statement that Alliance doesnât ever have anything reflected in the game. I mean seriously we are supposed to believe that SoO was a thing (and nothing changed) while Theramore is STILL a pile of rubleâŠ8 YEARS later? Or however long it has been.
Alliance gets family stories like Jainaâs this expansion or some feel good things and that is about it, but any actually important STORY, forget it. Our leaders exist to move the story along and are never allowed to be tactically or strategically intelligent about anything. ONLY REACTIONARY to the Horde. Oh thousands of troops and civilians died you sayâŠwell Varian said it was ok and he will be watching, the EPITOME of Alliance writing right there.
That big fist pump moment you were supposed to feel with the Alliance soldiers all in Orgrimmar and Alliance leadership there in strength (AFTER ASHENVALE BURNED, AFTER THERAMORE WAS LEVELED, AFTER all of Garroshâs atrocities) and the Horde on their kneeâsâŠyea this is what traitorous Varian had for our âwinâ. You can sit and enjoy your win, so compelling, such great story telling for the Alliance leadership.
Even now Tyrande and Malfurion are picking their noses in DarkshoreâŠnowhere to be seen in what is essentially a Night Elf story line.

But what about the poor people who feel that they have the right to see the story of how âLoyal they were to Sylvie babyâ and their rewards?
Obviously that takes precedence over some trash called Night Elves and Sylvie baby can one shot the Lich King and become OMGLOL powerful.
GUYS STAY TUNED for the dude with the bow! Heâs going to reveal Super Saiyan 1303030

I am still wondering what was Jaina and Lorthemar doing fighting Azshara when that place shouldâve belong to Thalyssra and Tyrande? We missed perfect character development, for good or worse, just to put two people that had nothing to do with Azshara as a MoP nostalgic action?
Sure, the devs. said it was to not overuse Tyrande as they had plans for her. But hey, wasnât Nathanos omnipresent in BFA? Isnât Sylvanas being extremely overused two expansions straight as a fusion of Thanos and Batman?

Their only plan for using Tyrande seems to be showing us all that Plot-armored Undead Ranger > literal avatar of a Godâs wrath.

But thatâs the plan for race in the game and the story. We are there to see Sylvanas being awesome and maybe, maybe Anduin being more awesome when he leads us better than every war veteran ever before.
