does the fact someone spent 3k on their gaming rig in an area with good internet count? because to me they should all be banned because my computer is a potato and i live in the boondocks with poor internet. it’s almost like even if you’re only playing one account money gives you an advantage. hm.
Except if you’re playing on just one account, it really doesn’t…
no this is a term that FAR predates the recent blizzard change to the TOS, I can go dig up the CCP posts about the TOS change to eve online which also targeted input broadcasting software. A well known one being ISBoxer which passes on the commands from 1 main client to ALL other open clients on that computer no hardware required - the following was posted 2014-11-25 on the now archived eve online forums
We would like to add, however, that we will not be taking action retroactively and will only be policing this policy as of January 1st, 2015.
Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing of actions with consequences in the EVE universe, are prohibited and will be policed in the same manner as Input Automation.
This includes, but isn’t limited to:
• Activation and control of ships and modules
• Navigation and movement within the EVE universe
• Movement of assets and items within the EVE universe
• Interaction with other characters
so arena doesn’t exist? mythic raiding doesn’t exist? and your good computer doesn’t let you do things i can’t do? really?
the fact of the matter is money is an advantage in this game. regardless if it’s a really nice computer vs a crappy one. or a single account vs 50.
the difference is you think your advantage is okay because you can afford it and there’s isn’t, because you can’t.
I recall an incident from another mmo that i used to play. The eco in that game was way more complex that WoW’s. It was more like Eve Online’s eco.
Anyways, there was this guy who multiboxed like crazy doing eco so of course he got rich in game and that started to affect the global market in game.
The dev’s did something similar so they implanted a limited multibox ban ( you only was allow to multibox like 3 or 5 accounts). How did that guy solved that problem? He hired cheap labor from China ( i think it was ) who worked for him in game. So instead of multiboxing that made him rich he more or less created a company that earned even more money by using real people as workforce and the dev’s couldn’t do nothing about it because it wasn’t multiboxing. But their solution made the economic situation in game even worse…
where there’s a will there’s a way. XD
Hmm i wonder if i should start up a daycare center for kids. Parents pay me real money to take care of their kids and i let them play wow all day farming gold for me. Is that legal?
I dont know about legality but i have 2 children without jobs so if you get it up and running give me a shout. The youngest just learned his 1st word so he should be about ready for the gold grind.
it’d be like botting fishing or herbing without getting your account banned. home school them as well and “reward” them with wow time. XD
But again, it’s not. You might…might, have a very slight advantage with a monster rig vs someone with a basic computer. With multiboxing, you literally 2x or more of an advantage.
You must play on a very sheltered server…
We have 2 Horde MBers and 1 Ally MBer that you literally see all the time on Tich.
As a Horde player, you will especially notice the DK (30 DKs) as you will die to him, at least 2-3 times a week. Its really fun when he casts army on his I think its like 20, unholy specced. And there is 100+ zombies along with 30 DKs, if your game doesn’t crash, its hilarious to watch the server choke out.
Dude in this thread literally admitting to running 64 boomkim.
The actual reality is the Boomkins people think are bots, are boxers. Thats why they never get banned. When a GM reaches out, they talk back.
Damn, you are really intent on cheating, huh?
I mean if I was elon Musk I would build actual real life robots with AI to play the game for me. And I would make sure they’re noobs and troll chat once in a while.
Nothing like spending a few million$ IRL to get ahead on Auction House monopoly.
I think it is more that that the botting softwares were using keycloning software instead of what they originally implemented because it makes it harder to distinguish between a boxer and botter.
As it stands per their article and updated support article there is absolutely nothing in there that states people can’t utilize hardware cloning. So boxing will definitely continue whether we want it or not.
This right here is a great idea! Listen, if you want to cheat and hide behind the vague TOS, goody. But now Blizz absolutely wants to stop this behavior, and have made that known. Despite the blue-post yesterday, the intent is to at the very least decrease the parts of multi-boxing that make it appear to be botting. If this works, they should do exactly what the poster recommends and ban all forms of multi-boxing, even the appearance, and then let the appeals procedure decide who was really boxing versus having a highly coordinated team working together.
There doesn’t need to be anything in the article is the point that keeps being overlooked.
The articles intetion is clear, the people they want to stop doing what they are doing is clear.
The warden won’t catch anything. The GMs will when your reported. As has been shown in this thread this started with Eve, Blizzard followed suit, so has Ashes and a few other games where this has happened or might.
Maybe Blizzars will reiterate, like Ashes and Eve did, when they were poked about this as is being done to Blizzard now.
However at the end of the day, when someone sees you playing 40 boomkins using starfall at the same time, you will be reported.
When Blizzard investigates this and sees the same, they are not going to sit there and ask how your doing it, nor believe what your saying. Your going to be banned.
Then you will appeal, your new ban/suspension to which if you get a reply it will be canned, and state all further communication is closed.
People that MB like this, just do not want to accept the fact that it’s over.
You’re right… they want people to stop using key cloning software. That is even the subject of the article - “Input Broadcasting Software”
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/policy-update-for-input-broadcasting-software/707426
i’m going in for some surgery to attach more arms so that i can click things easier on the several numpads i’m going to be using. they can’t ban me for having more than 2 arms
Ya, except thats the same thing Eve Said, and Ashes.
When pressed further, they are trying to stop 40 accounts being controlled with 1 keyboard as that is a hair away from botting.
Maybe blizzard will clarify that as well, maybe they wont.
Die on the semantics hill all you want, it will be your ban when you keep doing it.
I don’t box… but I don’t care if people do…
