I’m aware. I didn’t bother checking, but it still counts for the originality check so here is another bunch that isn’t as old and contains more in-depth ideas on similar matters:
I realize #nochange is the main concern this post is 100% brainstorming than suggestion really.
Let’s just say blizzards plan is to reset servers to make them FRESH so it isn’t a static state forever. Please keep in mind this is a hypothetical so let’s just imagine for a second.
What if… they made a system with the server reset that works like this. They make some sort of character ‘save state’ before the release of each ‘stage’ of WoW. So let’s say it is classic stage 1 and you just levele…
Even back in the day they were doing bug fixes, patches with new content(new bg’s, raid content and the like). I almost find it implausible that they will not keep it static as of 1.12. Time will tell. They might not add content but will they be spinning cycles on bug fixing or… Are they going to release it as it, never any upgrades to the servers, bugs or content and let it ride till it dies?
Do you think WOW could survive today with all the new content, but with systems and game design consistent with Vanilla?
By this I mean if we took the identity of Vanilla, with slow, linear character progression-Slow incremental gearing-Heavily reliant on group activity-Challenging content every step of the way-systems that allow players to play how they want rather than doing a little of everything…if we put all that in place and just released new content (zones, instances, classes, etc) eve…
so obviously theres an analog of wows current situation in runescape which im sure youve already heard about. they were hugely successful, then updated there game, kept growing, but then made some changes people didnt like or those people grew up or whatever, and there playerbase tanked over time… and now they release “old school runescape” which is just runescape from 2007. so far so good right? well… its interesting because at the time everyone thought it would just be a fad or some little sid…
Nobody is ever going to bring up flying, LFR, or anything that would destroy what Vanilla is. That is gross hyperbole spread by the various “#NoChange” groups.
What we want instead is stuff like class/talent changes, QoL changes to make some classes more interesting play, bringing the non-homogenized Melee Hunter back, as well as take Vanilla into direction it originally should have gone, should no expansions have happened.
So stuff like:
QoL changes: make some classes more interesting to p…
I started at the very end of Wrath, so I never got to play the early game/expansions.
Do you think BC or vanilla is better?
Personally I hope they eventually have all the expansions on “classic” with progression rotation servers where you can jump from one to the next after a “season.”
Anyway, it seems to me like BC “fixed” a lot of the problems with Vanilla and added loads of awesome new content.
Just an interested question. Once classic is released where does it go from there? Do they extend it the same as WoW, using the same expansions etc? Does it get extended with new expansions different than WoW got? Either way it no longer seems “Classic”. Or does it stagnate as a forever classic until everyone gets bored with nothing new?
