Did I say it was nerfed during testing? Are you having reading issues?
You’re asking a lot from GD.
Bring back the 415 weapon reward for those that don’t have better but give me a 445 wep since I have a 425 one already gg.
Yeah, I am having understanding your illogical claim that they tested it on the lower ilvl side, while there was a 415 ilvl reward at entry the whole time, and then just decide to throw out all of that testing and just nerf the reward 45 ilvls on a whim without further testing. That is almost a 3 ilvl overall difference from that reward alone.
The reward stayed the same throughout. It was there for so long that everyone reported it being the set reward. And then the bvoards lit up with “crying” and boom, 45 ilvl nerf on release. And you want people to believe it was due to testing and not a response to the complaints? 10-15 ilvls? sure. 45? nah.
Sigh, just another person that doesn’t understand how zone wide testing is done. Generally that kind of testing, for the most part, is done internally. Players can provide some help finding things missed by Blizzard or give them the knowledge that their numbers are off some but that’s about it.
Quest rewards aren’t really factored into how a zone is tested. A base, set item level is assumed for a player and those numbers are used to test mob strength, density, etc. The 415 weapon was just there and meant hardly anything. At any point during a PTR, something like that can change on a whim because it’s more or less just Blizzard saying they think it’s either too high or too low for the content and effort being put in.
No kidding. If people are going to threaten an unsub over this then please do us all a favor and unsub. I’m calling the bluff because that mentality has been killing this game.
This is one of the many reasons why the game is where it’s at right now.
This mentality right here. Please explain to me why you are upset that you aren’t getting a mythic quality weapon for doing nothing? Reminds me of the Argus trinkets. The outrage when the folks doing LFR realized they weren’t getting them, you know why? They weren’t doing the content that required a trinket like that to even be used. So goes the game Xpac after Xpac and patch after patch, everyone needs the same shinies even though they aren’t working for them.
Reality, you don’t deserve a mythic level weapon for doing a quest. Sorry, not sorry.
/complainmoar
I know OP isn’t complaining but it seems like 415, people complained, 370, people complain… damn Blizz, I feel for you!
I for one love that it’s enough to have a fresher 120 to be able to get some helpful upgrades, they were not though supposed to be upgrades for heroic-geared players.
RIGHTFULLY so!
This is illogical and contradictory. A weapon upgrade is the biggest upgrade a melee character can get. It drastically changes the results. and this gets me to:
This needs citation as you are speaking as if you have inside knowledge but also, they often talk about how they monitor the damage/mitigation/healing during testing. They get reports. In case you don’t remember, class devs are gone and have been for a while. This is why we end up with broken classes and such imbalance.
How does nerfing a reward 45 ilvls not raise the “kneejerk” flag in front of your face? Nerfing it from a very significant upgrade to vendor trash for everyone but fresh 120’s is clearly a reaction to something other than balance input. Look at wehat a returning player said earlier. Even for them it is trash.
This is the kind of illogical decisions certain youtubers and streamers like to make in effort to put a genie back in the bottle. The genie in this case being “welfare gear.” It’s the same old hatred of everyone you call “casuals.” or “idiot lfr players.” It’s something that has to be addressed at the start of a new expansion, not mid expansion as it only serves to screw up the progression path that was laid out before it. This doesn’t keep the past zone relevant because for most of the existing playerbase, and apparently a lot of returning players, it’s irrelevant.
TBH, I like arguing the logistics of this as I am hanging on until August if I can make it that long. I’m not even logged on when I could be and would be had they made certain changes not relevant to this discussion. I have no emotion invested into this. My purpose is to get you to admit that they made a drastic response to a lot of backlash on the forums and social media. But after seeing the type of response you entered in with, I can see that you ARE that feedback they responded to so hastily.
I am one argumentative SOB but one thing I don’t do is openly hate the fellow playerbase. You are ruining this game. The elitist jerk has been ruining it since taking it over. Drive it into wall and see how that works out for ya.
Not to that particular zone. No zone has been created with the idea that the same person will only be able to do the content after they get a particular weapon. Not a single one.
Some of us are actually alpha testers.
Once again, it was brought in line with the effort involved in attaining it and the content it was being acquired from. What, did you think you needed a 400+ item level for Nazjatar?
Sorry but it is welfare gear and it leads to people like you crying on the forums when they don’t receive their handouts.
They didn’t.

Yes, I’m going to be that person.
How am I elitist? I haven’t raided in years lol.
I agree…blizzard appeasing the vocal whiners this time. Would have been nice to know when the weapon emissary was up. Skipped it with a couple alts solely because of the Ptr info.
This game is the most casual friendly game since it’s been it’s entire 15 years of being. There’s literally a 10% hardcore aspect to this game which is mythic raid, high m+ keys and 2400+ rating in arena. You have the rest of the game and some of your content merges with ours.
To be honest I don’t care if you stay or go but I think they over catered enough and should pull it back to the point you start appreciating what you have instead of being spoiled/entitled for not getting what you aren’t capable of getting with your own time/effort like everyone else.
I wish they’d go back to how vanilla was with only acquiring a meaningful upgrade every few months.
Hello.
I can confirm that there was a bug in the PTR that was causing this reward to generate at an unintentionally high item level, and the bug was finally fixed just before the content update went live.
So you’re seeing the intended power of the reward, and it should be consistent with other rewards that come from similar activities.
Thank you. That does answer questions and help clear up some misconceptions.
I hope it looks good, because at 370 it’s basically transmog for most of my toons.
Trouble is people feel this was nerfed because people complained it was too high. It was on the PTR at 415 for a number of builds so I personally am not buying the ‘bug’ line.
People will unsub.
This is hilarious.
Leave a 415 weapon reward in until the last second and call it a bug? What the actual *^#%?
