[Main Thread] - Permissions errors updating or repairing games in Battle.net

When is this getting fixed? This just started for me today. I had a Battlenet update, now I am seeing the same issues as everyone else with Update/Run as Administrator. I am on a MAC and none of the suggested efforts fix my issues.

Still doesn’t work. lol. Thanks for trying to help though.

I don’t know if this will help anyone but this is how I managed to get around the problem so far.

I saw the patches trying over and over this afternoon, so I ran a scan and repair on Wow (retail) and it kept failing at 98%. I ran Bnet as admin, and other things that were suggested as well. I even tried bypassing the launcher with the EXE directly, but it told me my game was corrupted and wouldn’t launch. Figured it was on the Blizz end and decided to give it a few hours.

I came back tonight and it wasn’t failing anymore, but it WAS stuck in a scan and repair loop for a few hours. I Finally ran into a forum thread that said to clear out everything in the WoW > Data folder. Did that, restarted Bnet as admin, and let WoW re-download 70 gb.

So far everything is working again for the moment, but I haven’t turned the game off since. Hopefully this can help someone.

This is still not working for me. Been a problem all day. I hope Blizz grants me game time for wasting it with their issues lol

I cannot even submit a tech support ticket hahaha

I still cannot update it but I am able to launch the game by running the EXE file out of the retail location, but bnet is still bugged.

so i guess we can never update the game ever again, this is bs, it is 3:30 am and i have tried all steps i can, my anti virus is not able to be disabled i have looked at every option on it and have tried every other option besides that and nothing works i even uninstalled the ptr to try a reinstall but it wont even reinstall it so no way am i going to uninstall the main game the battlenet app is whats broken, blizz fix this NOW!!!

i dont care bout getting game time what matters to me is the weekly stuff being extended 1 extra day so instead of it resetting on tuesday it should reset on wednesday, i mean i only accidentally happened upon this forum post literally when i posted my first post in here so basically since i thought i was the only one having issues as no on in my WoW discord i am part of has mentioned having issues i thought it was just me so i have spent literally ALL day (well the time i would have been on the game under normal circumstances) trying to fix this with no time on the game at all to do renown weeklies for the toons that aren’t 80 yet or timewalking etc.

I did this also and it cleared the update loop.

what that person done that worked for them and you did not work for me, it still will not update.

blizzard people are you even working on a fix for this or what? you need to let us know an update cuz it is not on our end as the “trouble shooting” doesn’t work for everyone only some people have gotten it to work probably just by pure luck

i try but my send this msg:Your World of Warcraft installation is damaged. To learn how to repair it, see: https://battle.net/support/article/6572

I get an, “Access Denied” message … very long, would love to be able to copy and paste the text here, but no joy. Something about shared memory.

The CAS system was unable to initialize; ClientHandler: initialization error: failed to create storage component …

So 14 hours ago I posted here about my issue and put in a ticket. I am still having the same issue - Battle Net will not update the game. I’ve tried all the work arounds that Bliz suggested and the ones here that other Mac users got to work to no avail. But on the kinda bright side (if there is one) I got an email about my ticket:

Hey there,

Tech Specialist Lorrothir at your service  Thanks for reaching out on this!

It looks like there was a small hiccup with the latest app update! Our engineers are working on a fix. It should go live to all players as soon as it is available. My best advice would be to try again later.

If there’s anything else you might need just let us know! Thanks for playing and enjoy the games!

I especially like the “Thanks for playing and enjoy the games!” part since I can’t do neither STILL.

didn’t work for me :frowning: when I click on the application it says WoW needs an update and launches B-net sigh.

Currently trying this.

… and it’s going to take a long time, I see. Games were playable but didn’t like that it kept updating and wanted to fix it. Now I cannot play at all until it is all redownloaded. If I stop and choose to restore what I deleted it might get corrupted and really mess stuff up. So, meh.

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the lack of updates. We haven’t heard much back from the teams so there isn’t any new information that we can share. We’ll certainly check on this again to see how progress is going and update when we have new information.

ran battlenet as root on my computer and still running into the “Please try again after logging on as administrator” error. Don’t think this is on the OS side, unfortunately.
