Is there still a phone number to call to speak with a human CS agent?

So a guildie of mine went to login for the raid tonight and found that has account had been closed. Not just banned. Closed. He went to check his email to figure out what was going on, but hadn’t used it in so long that he had to reactivate it. No emails. Thus, no reason to be found. He put in a ticket, and just got canned responses. If there was any human interaction there, there certainly wasn’t much attention paid to what was being asked.

We’ve been brainstorming trying to figure out what the guy was doing that would have got him banned. He doesn’t buy gold. He doesn’t pay for runs or whatever. The guildie is a working adult that just logs in for raids and the occasional M+. He literally didn’t spend enough time in the game apart from us to get up to anything nefarious.

It would just be nice to find a human to speak to in order to figure out what is going on. If the dude was banned for a legit reason… fair enough. But he has no reason to lie to us - and honestly doesn’t care enough about the game to do anything underhanded - so I’m very confident a mistake has been made.

There is no longer a call-in number and hasn’t been for many years.

Also, only the person affected by the account closure can speak to Blizzard about it.

Did they put in a ticket for an appeal OR a ticket for not being able to log in to their account?

Call in lines were retired some time ago. There is live chat, but that is not avaliable for ban appeals, only web tickets. Currently they may be limited in favor of catching up on the backlog of tickets in the system, but I digress, it is only mean for purchase issues and tech support, not ban or suspension appeals.

Yeah, he got a ticket in, but received a canned response that clearly didn’t actually read what he had said. He can’t even properly deny what he was accused of doing if he doesn’t have that information.

An appeal is just asking for them review the logs they have. It isn’t a means to talk about it. He can request them to resend the email if he wants.

He did, and they did not.

Have him appeal again. They will review it multiple times. It sometimes takes 3-4 appeals to get a high level review which is usually final, at which point they will tell you to stop appealing further. Include in the appeal that you’d like the ban e-mail to be re-sent. The e-mails don’t give a lot of information but they at least give a general category for what the ban is regarding.

Thanks. We’ll try until they stop letting us, I suppose.

Have your friend check the spam/junk folders for email too.

He is not going to get any more details besides a general reason. This is intentional to stop players attempting to skirt the rules.

Appeals are not to plead his case either. Blizzard relies of their extensive logs of everything that happens in-game. Yes, mistakes are sometimes made - hence the appeal process for a fresh set of eyes to go over the evidence.

He hadn’t used the email for so long that it was inactive. They made the pass, but there was no one to catch it, so to speak.

If your friend did not receive an email with information, they can request information for what their sanction is for.

And if they can access these forums at all, to inquire under their account? Sometimes our SFAs will give the general reason that should have been noted in the email. Your friend would have to be the one here asking. Blizzard will only deal with the account holder, no middleman.

Mind you, no one will give specific detailed information. It would be something like “abuse of economy”, “botting/cheating”. They just don’t explain too explicitly because that is premium information real cheaters would love to have.

Can he even post if his account has been closed? Not banned. It’s been nuked entirely. After no action on it for the better part of two decades.

Honestly, he’s just torn up about it. Doesn’t know what to do after getting the canned response, and doesn’t have the time or start over.

Are we talking bnet account or wow account its rare for blizzard to nuke a whole bnet account.

I would assume WoW account. Pretty sure he just gave up and went to bed awhile ago, though.

Not canned template everything handled by a real person.

Real people can use canned templates.

This leads me to believe that his account might have been compromised. Blizzard doesn’t just close accounts, no matter how long they haven’t been used. More than likely what happened was that the account was compromised and then banned when it was used to do nefarious things. I’m not sure if an appeal would be the right avenue with this one. Your friend might want to open a regular ticket to ask Blizzard to look into the history of the account and see what has happened.

He’s been playing with us regularly. We checked his characters in the guild - they were last online when he was last online. But I suppose that’s another route to check out.

Oh, sorry… I thought you mean that the account had been idle for that long.
