Is it true there are only 4 classes that get to DPS?

Agreed. Raids are not going to be struggling to fill dps slots. The servers will be absolutely lousy with rogues, hunters mages and warriors.(warlocks might be rare especially on alliance.) They will however be struggling to fill healer spots most likely. And the vast majority of the utility hybrids have they would also bring if they just healed.

cuz i died on Heigan as I just said 5 mins ago and lost all my full world/raid buffs whereas everyone else still had theirs

I was in a different guild at this point where I couldn’t put up Judgement of the Crusader

never mind the fact that I was swinging NIGHTFALL instead of Corrupted Ashbringer the entire time I was there…

likewise I WASN’T THERE FOR THE ENTIRE RAID - so don’t look at the full raid parse lulz

That is LITERALLY the entire problem. If you want to heal, you’re 100% good to go as a hybrid, they are FINE for healing. Paladins are THE BEST single target HPS IN THE GAME.

The problem is if you DON’T want to heal… if you want to pursue any of the other roles you were presented when you made your character, you can sit and spin.

Even if you DON’T have to sit and spin, you’re gonna be worth less than just bringing another class.

You were 19th on Thaddius cause you died on Heigan…? You realize you can sort those parses by individual boss fights, right?

Find a new thread to troll.

oh like posting this and saying to look at the full raid parse?

https://legacyplayers.com/Raids/Viewer/Default.aspx?id=8911&exp=0&upl=13875

when I was only there for 3 of the bosses…

besies, SPELLADIN is going to be the new meta come classic and we will feast on your tears

thanks for playing though

PS these are all the PURE DPS classes I beat even without full world buffs on that Thaddius fight all while swinging Nightfall…

18 Moxie (238271) 986.9/s 3.1%
19 Theoloras (237699) 984.5/s 3.1%
20 Cephh (234685) 972/s 3.1%
21 Realterror (233766) 968.2/s 3.1%
22 Notoriouskgb (229746) 951.6/s 3.0%
23 Canteen (223943) 927.5/s 2.9%
24 Eleetgamer (208692) 864.4/s 2.7%
25 Serenathus (195415) 809.4/s 2.6%

Riddle me that Batman…

Except I didn’t. The great thing about raid logs is we can look at everything.

Which is exactly why you need logs, not a SS of one fight showing you doing well. your SS is the equivalent of posting that SP DPS from just that one fight, it paints a misleading picture.

And I can see that, because I have the logs. You literally only beat out the tanks and shadow priest.
Emps #21
Ouro #17
Cthun#22

who the hell uses Ouro or C’thun as a test parse anyway?

the sheer rng aspect of each of those fights make it lulz at best

and as far as Twin Emps, the melee boss is IMMUNE to OVER HALF OF MY SPECIAL ATTACKS…

  • Shadow Oil = nope
  • Lifestealing = nope
  • Dragonbreath Chili = nope
  • Crystal/Sapper Charge = nope

oh and I can’t use Consecration cuz it will agro scorpion bug adds so gfg

which means all I can do is lolret it up with Melee Gear and Seal/Judgement of Command

Coming from the kid whose first entry as “Proof” that ret paladins as ‘hella kool 1337 killzors’ was a screenshot of a DPS meter on Thaddius?

I guess it needs to be said yet again: Go find another thread to troll.

You look at and consider ALL performances when gauging the viability of a class… You consider extenuating circumstances and then adjust accordingly. The vast majority of the time a Ret paladin is going to be dead weight.

Nothing will change this… EXCEPT… Get ready for it… Changes to the game…

You are missing the point, you should be using all of them. You are basically trying to justify Ret because they do well in a handful of fights, and ignoring the overwhelming majority where they perform poorly.

someone who comes first on a parse of ouro or cthun one week

can literally comes close to if not dead last the next week

there is no rhyme or reason to those fights due to the sheer RNG factors of the encounters…

no, that’s being intellectually dishonest such as was the case in the total raid parse video that TipsOut made last year

Ret Paladins cannot stay in melee for KT during phase 2 and 3 otherwise we blow up the other melee due to Mana Detonation - we CAN stay in melee on Heigan, but have to drain all of our mana BEFORE combat which means we hit like a wet noodle (or we simply put on healing gear and stand on the platform with the casters/healers)

On the flip side, a GOOD Retribution Paladin wears 8/8 Tier 1 on Loatheb for the AoE groups heals while being in either the Main Tank or Warlock group.

Our own personal DPS goes down the toilet for that fight so that we can provide the MAXIMUM SUPPORT instead.

READ ABOVE as you consider all factors - not just raw dps from an entire raid parse - some fights I heal, some fights I dps, some fights I sit out and let another player in - get real

The thing you’re missing is that your DPS never came out of the toilet to begin with… Certain bosses just climb into the toilet where you can reach them.

again, tell that to the pures who I beat when I lost my world buffs while they still had theirs…

If they’re worth their salt they already know… YOU’RE the one that needs convincing.

There are no fights without extenuating circumstances where a Ret paladin will beat a pure DPS class of any variety that is played on par, skill wise, with the ret Paladin.

It does not, has not and will never happen.

Did you beat a pure at some point? Bad news for you. They played like crap, the fight mechanics boned them harder than they boned you, the heal that would’ve saved them was too late, the fight favored your kit or one or more of a thousand other scenarios converged to make you think Ret Paladins aren’t garbage.

you do realize that you guys are arguing over an actual dead in the water spec anyway…

SPELLADIN will be the new meta on Classic - we’ve proven it works on the BETA

you guys are fighting with me over something that quite simply put, will not exist anymore come August 27th…

Except we won’t have access to T2 on the 27th.

Patience my sweet summer child, patience…

This is work in progress - likely something will be wrong
Spelladin gear is heavily contextual compared to what other gear you have, keep that in mind

Manual Crowd Pummeler (MCP) is BIS, use this on bosses. And when you don’t (on trash etc), refer to the weapon section

Phase 1: Spelladin [PreBIS]
https://www.classicwowtools.live/character/d12cca6a80be4965f706a27dd61b6ee026d004e0879979e4d22bb9e49460b56c95f1a0e1f1a064f68afe803167296745587ef643e61c70abce7cb7bbe6c2fd11902a476185814b0e627f92447306643bebf52c99fa1c5e907c9620a1821c760c9c5c13c10c5641e349fa6bd4d23ed1209ce78158b17a8cfb090fb642e5f7a7d76707892575e01041252b0dc5418c9274e70e68bedce2fda1a9595ae4e201dcd6252f8dd8aa65
If you go Flurry Axe, use Spirit of Aquementas in off-hand
You could use Lionheart Helm until you get Judgement Crown
If Crimson Felt Hat, Barrage Girdle and Burial Shawl is available, those are pre-bis

Phase 1: MC+Ony
https://www.classicwowtools.live/character/d12cca6a80be4965f706a27dd6186eec2ad004e0879979e4d22bb9e49460b56c95f1adedf1a564f68afe80316d296041587ef643e61c73aac879b7bbe6c2fd11902a476185814b0e627f924275036f3bebf52c99fa1c5e907c9620a1821c76069c5e1ec10c5641e349fa61d5d638d1209ce78158b17188fb0d0fb642e5f7a7d76707892575e01041252b07c4408c9274e70e68bedce2fda1a9595ae4e201dcd6252f8dd8aa65
If they are easily available, true BIS contains: Sapphiron Drape and Robe Of Volatile Power – but you can replace them come DM for pure dps

Phase 2: (+PVP)
https://tinyurl.com/Spelladin-P2-BIS
Take Waterspout Boots if you can’t get Snowblind Shoes.
If you only go to rank 8, then take R7 boots and R8 Chest.

Rank 13 gear isn’t worth if, at all, unless you were going to get it for PVP anyways.
Less than 1 dps increase, since you need to wear the full set for the spell dmg bonus.

Notes:
2x Ring of Spell Power and Judgement Crown, will last you from phase 1 until phase 5.
Choker of the Fire Lord also from phase 1 is BIS forever, so aim for that

Dexterbravo [Hammer]04/03/2019
Phase 3: BWL+AV
https://www.classicwowtools.live/character/d12cca6a80be4965f706a27dd6186eec2ad004e0879979e4d720b9e19460b56c95f1adedf1a564f68afe803162216645587ef643e61c77aacf7db7bbe6c2fd119522456585814b0e627f924c76036f3bebf52c99fa1b5f97799620a1821c7609945f13c10c5641e349fa61d5d638d1209ce78158b17188fb0d0fb642e5f7a7d367018e2575e01041252b06cf468f9274e70e68bedfebfba8c0282d8ee41ac1d6242d8fbcaa14c8abb2426ba4a3ba657d028d
Master Dragonslayer’s Orb if AV isn’t out.
Use Scrolls first, then go back to your Talisman, depending on the fight/trash etc.

Phase 5: AQ40
https://www.classicwowtools.live/character/d12cca6a80be4965f706a27dd51f64e128d004e0879979e7d328b5e39460b56c95f1adedf1a564f68afe8032662f6047587ef643e61f70a0c37fb7bbe6c2fd129228496185814b0e627f91477207663bebf52c99f91c559a769620a1821c750e9e5212c10c5641e349f969d3d236d1209ce78158b27988f60a0fb642e5f7a4d46f0c892575e01041252b06cf468f9274e70e68bedfebfba8c0282d8ee41ac1d6242d8fbcaa14c8abb24268aca5b2677d738bb459cf4960f4f2ca36a8f5
For max DPS on short fights you could get Dark Storm Gauntlets, but your uptime will suffer tremendously comparetively.
(T2 and T2.5+misc is basically the same, so probably wont even need most of this)

Phase 6: Naxx
https://www.classicwowtools.live/character/d12cca6a80be4965f706a27dd51f64e128d004e0879979e7d328b5e39460b56c95f1adedf1a564f68afe8032672e6541587ef643e61f70a0c37fb7bbe6c2fd129228496185814b0e627f91477207663bebf52c99f91c559a769620a1821c750e9e5212c10c5641e349f969d3d236d1209ce78158b27988f60a0fb642e5f7a4d46f0c892575e0104125280ccc468a9274e70e68bedce9f8a7c3282d8ee41ac1d6242d8fbcaa14c8abb24268aea0bf697d738bb459cf4960f4f2ca36a8f5
If you don’t have Eyestalk Waist Cord at this point I’d take Belt Of The Grand Crusader.

T2 is probably both realistic and actual BIS forever, gonna make sure and then ill update the late phase lists
Dexterbravo [Hammer]04/04/2019
Best weapons: (in general)
Destiny/Flurry Axe < Blade of Hanna < Ironfoe < Ashbringer < Hungering Cold < Thunderfury < MCP
Considering Ironfoe is BIS (not by a huge margin) when not using MCP, until Naxx, it might be worth the farming.
If you use Flask then Flurry Axe will be better than Hanna. In general the more spellpower you get, the faster you want your weapon to be.

If Ironfoe has 2 PPM it’s better than Thunderfury. If Fiery Retributor scales as we wish (but don’t expect) it’s better than MCP.
Flurry Axe becomes better than Hanna with P5 BIS gear even without flask.

or go 11/26/14 Trispec to pickup Blessing of Sanctuary and AoE tank for your guild and then swing Nightfall the rest of the time while wearing 8/8 Tier 1 for group AoE heals in either the Main Tank or Warlock group and become the ultimate support class/spec in the entire game

https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/paladin/AvAQBD_QccADPJFw

It’s not rocket science guys

PS here’s the 8/8 tier 1 healing on loatheb:

HEALING 502108 (1764.7/s)
1 Seak (121510) 427.1/s (60015) 210.9/s 29.9%
2 Theoloras (42038) 147.7/s (13466) 47.3/s 9.1%

we both wore 8/8 Tier 1 but Seak put up and maintained Judgement of Light

Other than you moving the goalposts what kind of parses do other specs get if they can be decked out in full BIS gear up to and including Naxx?

Man I feel like MCP is going to get nerfed! It’s BiS for Ret now too? I feel like most of the people in this thread have no clue.

You guys haven’t seen power shifting feral druids with MCP and wisdom apparently. Horde druids probably have it worse, but Alliance druids are pulling 1k+ DPS on melee friendly fights with AQ/PvP gear all raid long on private servers. At 1k DPS it doesn’t even matter the boss is dead in under a minute.
