I really don’t see how this community flagging system is any different than the prior down voting system. This thread and the aforementioned thread show just what can happen when a group of people mass flag in threads.
As an avid forum goer I know the code of conduct very well. You cannot discuss disciplinary actions taken by a moderator or GM on the forums or in game respectively. The last time I checked, the community was neither of those.
Blizzard really needs to rethink this whole community flagging system seeing as they took a firm stand against having the down vote system in place. But I suppose history always repeats itself.
Blizzard really needs to implement stuff so something like cogshanks can be used again… That and I think in full disclosure we should be able to see who flagged a post.
This thread didn’t break any forum rules regardless of if you think it did or not. No disciplinary actions were discussed in the original post. Inquiring about forum rules is not against the CoC
There is no punishment in place for a false flagging, to answer your question.
Honestly the number of flags doesn’t matter as long as your post doesn’t break CoC.
For example I can create a thread called “the sylvanas hate thread” where I discuss why I dislike sylvanas.
All the sylvanas fan bois can flag the post, but it doesn’t break CoC so they mods wont do anything. If a temporary ban is done automatically, you can easily get it overturned.
Is it fair, not really. But that’s the way it is. I don’t see blizz changing it any time soon. As always, keep it appropriate and on topic and you’ll be fine.
