Flag a post to alert a moderator

The forum post report form is now gone since you simply flag a post that you believe violates the forum Code-of-Conduct. Simply click the flag icon then choose from one of the four options provided as needed. The post is then flagged for review by a moderator. You have a few minutes to undo the flag if you wish. Note that threads may be automatically locked for 24 hours if they receive enough flags among all posts in that thread.

DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE TO SIMPLY DISLIKE THE CONTENT OF THE POST . To help control unwanted flag spam for the moderators to sift through, all users have a very limited number of flags per day they can issue. So only flag posts that are in violation.

And it takes a lot more than 1 person flagging a post to get it hidden.

If your post got hidden from flagging, there were a lot of people objecting to it. And just because it got hidden… doesn’t necessarily mean you are getting a forum vacation.

But what we’re seeing with the above is that each character on an account gets their own set of flags before they run out. One account with multiple characters can flag a post enough times to get it hidden pending mod review.

Not a huge deal since the mod will come along, go “Pfffff!” and unlock it, but that’s why this one person can get posts hidden and threads locked pending review.

Yes I know, but the point is just because someone is told “please don’t use this wrong” doesn’t mean they won’t. You can flag on your alts multiple times. That’s the issue right now. It can be a single person flagging on many alts.

I agree that would should be limited to 1 like or flag of a specific post from the entire account.

But to say that 1 single individual is targeting the OP, that’s stretching it.

I don’t know if it’s verified to be one person but the problem is a very real one if left unchecked. I have 26 110+ toons on 3 accounts all on my bnet. That’s just my high levels too and excluding any I might be leveling.

NOTE: I AM NOT EVER ACTUALLY GOING TO DO THIS. THIS IS AN ANECDOTE. NOT A REAL SCENARIO.

If I didn’t like something you posted and represent 26 people somehow, should all of my alts count for a flag and should the people here be correct, I could have your post hidden. Me alone. That wouldn’t be fair.

What’s stupid is when you get sent the flag warning it doesn’t even tell you which post was flagged, the entire thing needs to be more transparent.

EDIT: And there you go, that person returns and all the sudden the topic gets locked. Really makes you think. I think my favorite part is the last post is from someone who abused the flag system against me saying it isn’t a big deal but then the topic gets completely locked due to all the false flagging. Blizz needs to fix this.
