Is it against the rules to necro a bunch of old threads at once on GD?

I keep finding myself in threads from years ago, it turns out someone has been bumping a lot of old threads with the word ‘sucks’ in the title. It is disruptive to my experience, and I was wondering if it is against the rules or not. If so, what option would I use to report? If not, thanks for your time

Do not “bump” posts.

The act of posting simply to bump a thread is considered spamming. This also includes bumping very old threads for no reason (called “necro bumping” or “necroing”).

Cool, hopefully trolling works as the category. I am all out of flags now apparently. I feel like I barely made a dent though lol

For clarification, Drsockphdmd, while necroing isn’t inherently against our Code of Conduct, it may fall under the category of “Trolling”, which is.

While I understand you believe you had a valid reason to post, the thread was in no way active. Very far from it. So continuing a discussion that is no longer ongoing isn’t very helpful. The majority of people who reply to older threads don’t generally respond to the last post, but start at the top, at the old information.

That is one of the main reasons why we dissuade necro posts, because information changes, discussions end and it is often better to start a new discussion than resurrect an old one.

So why not just lock old threads? Like threads are locked in the CS forum after two months?

Definitely suggest this in the GD Forums or the in-game Suggestion box (when the game is back up and running).
