Hey guys i may have quit wow but i didn’t quit the fourms for some reason anyone want cookies.
That is my point. There is nothing Blizzard can do about this addon because it isn’t using their APIs to pull or use it. There is even more precedent that addons like this are perfectly valid because their stance has always been that communities (even temporary ones like pugs) are well within their rights to be as inclusive or exclusive as they want so long as it isn’t against the otherwise defined rules in the TOS.
For example, me and my 3 guildies are well within our rights to form random groups or join LFG heroics and just kick everyone out until we get someone who we approve of using whatever criteria we make up (and are free to change or modify at will). It would certainly make us donkeyhats by any reasonable community standards, but we aren’t breaking any rules per say.
Just like it isn’t against the rules for donkeyhat tryhards (or anyone) to ruin a key and 4 other people’s time by abandoning the run before it is completed because some or all of the group ends up not meeting their self-defined metric for acceptable standard. In fact, plenty of past threads and notable posters here have very predictable stances and takes and are in full support of that behavior believing “bads don’t deserve completed runs for failing” and other such drivel.
Blizzard LETS the pug world be an unmoderated lawless mess short of people going blatantly against the hard and fast rules of the TOS and many people want SOMETHING to try and otherwise weed undesirables out.
So even though a commendation system isn’t a foolproof system or a yelp like feedback system is rife to be abused (someone showed me all the false comments I got the other day), Blizzard can’t (or rather shouldn’t) keep their head in the sand about this forever.
You can never have subjective data and turn it into objective metrics but humans can bridge that gap and at least make more educated decisions using that subjective data and applying whatever value and weight to it along with purely quantifiable objective information to ultimately help influence that decision.
I also highly doubt this addon will be the next Raider IO, Details, or DBM and I think the developer(s) should quit hiding/evading questions and criticisms and work with people to perhaps make something better (since it’ll never be perfect), but I dont fault them for at least taking their version of a stab at it since Blizzard refuses to actively help shape this community into what THEY want it to more or less be.
That’s different though. You kicking someone out of a pug isn’t inhibiting their ability to join another one. If this thing goes wide, you’d have a hard time joining a pug because of all the false reports. Luckily you don’t pug, but it will be an issue for others.
I already said I would work with people and have started work on a system countering potential abuse based on what someone said here, and I mentioned it quite a few times lol, next time get the full picture before coming to conclusions… Questions are being answered but do you really expect a person to spend their whole day doing so?
You’re going to have to if you’re going to actually verify all the reports lol. Maybe you can hire people and pay them in gold!
That isn’t true either. This addon has no way to actually stop someone from joining a pug even if they are the worst person with a million bad reports. If it somehow had that power, Blizzard could and would ban it.
Just like Raider IO in itself isn’t stopping anyone from running mythic+. In all cases, it comes down to how the COMMUNITY uses the data/tools and the community demands WAY higher expectations to join pug groups for mythic+ and raids from both a gear and IO level and Blizzard doesn’t step in to stop it.
The simple fact is that someone doesn’t “need” to be 220+ ilvl with a 1300+ IO score to run a 15…15’s were being cleared in ~200ish ilvl gear IIRC. You aren’t getting into a pug for a raid unless you are maybe a healer even without AOTC and it’s been that way for a long time. You don’t see Blizzard coming down and telling people their “requirements” are absurd (just the opposite even).
Of course it can’t stop you from applying, but why would anyone take you with all the negative reports made against you? IO can be improved and grinded. You’ll have that mark forever.
Actually yes I do. You want people to use your addon and your approach to how you use and capture data (since you rely on “us” to make it all work), then expect that people are going to have questions and concerns and the onus is absolutely on you to address them.
If you think it is normal to sit on single thread on a forum 24/7 then please answer me this… What is your height and weight?
Questions are being answered, and many concerns of abuse were addressed, so at this point they’re just repetitive.
Because just like there are people who either dont know or use IO as well as other people who actively know that problems with boiling someone down to a numeric score isn’t all that telling either, there will be people who understand the limitations and can know that info will be skewed.
Also it isn’t stopping anyone from making their own groups…and yes it’ll mean just like someone with no/very low IO score today they will have a bear of a time finding competent people…that is, unfortunately, the price one pays when dealing with this community. Never fall behind or accept you are going to have a bear of a time getting caught back up to an “acceptable” level. I’ve got firsthand experience of this. This game is one of the last games I’d ever suggest to someone totally new or inexperienced that I know also wouldn’t be satisfied with what pathetically little the solo experience offers/restricts you to.
How is having my height or weight in any way relevant?
The point people are going to make is you are insane if you think you can build this thing alone and you are deluded as frick if you think “you” should be the sole judge and jury of a player.
You could start with me…plenty others have already shown that I got a crapton of obviously false reports, yet you claim I didn’t. So explain your process of where those went and/or how you dealt with it?
While you are at it, go ahead and explain how you are handling this whole “proof” concept (either proving someone is guilty or appealing their guilt) in an age of better and quicker means to photoshop or otherwise falsify things.
Your source is literally just “trust me bro”. Prove that there have been false reports that made the list. Every time someone asks the response is “Go find it, it’s there”. What are the discord names of the people making the false reports? You and others do not have ANY proof of this… it’s completely baseless and your claim is just hilarious.
Once again, and for the last time because if I have to mention this again I simply won’t respond, I am working on an addition to discourage false reports unless they want to stand-out themselves. There are also tools to detect Photoshop. The people who use the addon have placed their trust in it and it is working.
Dude someone actually showed me a list of the actual remarks against me. There was like 12 or 15 or so. I saw them with my own eyes. Most said I was toxic or abandoned a key with a few saying I was racist to a chinese player (which isn’t even likely since we have no way to play with them…would have been more believable at least to pick brazillian players…even though it wouldn’t be true either).
Why are you so against being open and transparent? Like I legit do not know what happened to my false reports and am asking you to clarify. Developers running off to code things in a bubble/box just to throw the “finished product” as users expecting them to be grateful literally next to never works.
Similarly, not being open to feedback (no matter how inane and “repetitive” it seems) is going to (and has) make you far more enemies than allies. Take people’s concerns and criticisms as gifts man…they ultimately make your product stronger. People are finding holes and issues which you can then address and solve to not only build a better product, but also gather trust in the community you rely on to use your product.
IO just isn’t the same thing. You can improve your IO. According to your social IO, you’re a habitual key quitter that throws out slurs. That will never go away.
And I’m looking at all the reports that were made right now, NONE mention your name. I am seeing them with my own eyes. You can see the list yourself on the github which is linked to the curseforge page, you are NOT on it. You’re so delusional.
Actually according to the dev here I’m innocent of everything. Nevermind someone showed me all the false reports but I guess they are gone now…who knows where/how and I guess I should be grateful…
Also IO is far from the end all be all either. It would be WAY better if it tracked certain metrics like average damage done for the instance as well as damage done on the bosses, avoidable damage taken, how many times interrupts and/or key utility spells were used.
Whatever you say dude. I’m not going to pretend to know the inner workings of how your app works or what went on. I’m trying to help you here and all you’re giving me back in return is hostility and a defensive attitude.
Take people’s concerns to heart or dont…all it’ll mean is nobody will trust or use your addon and all the time you are spending on it will be useless.
You’re either delusional or trolling. Go see the list yourself and then tell me if your name is on it. Since it’s on GitHub you can even see the version history, you were NEVER on it. If your not satisfied with this then you are 100% trolling
lmao classic hunter stuff
