idk you both seem to be enjoying the conversation quite a bit
Well I feel confident that anyone reading through our exchange will be able to understand whats happening.
I can’t say its been pleasant but have yourself a good day nonetheless. I’m off to farm some rep.
Yeah go farm some rep instead of spreading your stupidity on me.
You let him get the last word. Shame!
Yeah
Once I realized we were arguing the same thing it took the fun out of it. That and he really does seem to have a need to have the last word. I have a touch of OCD and compulsions like that can really suck. I hope I didn’t cause him to much stress, but it was pretty funny for a while.
While taking a nap I did come to the conclusion that while I like my approach of a social rating app better I still wouldn’t use or promote it. I think it solves many of the problems that people have but in the end it causes another and that is the social divide that we see happening. People (myself included at time) seem to be unwilling to engage in conversation with those who hold differing opinion or values. Its easier that way but I think its damaging in the long run as we no longer question what we hold true because there is no one we engage with that will pose those questions.
Great addon, i will definitely get it, thank you. maybe players will start acting like human beings again in BG’s.
And thank for you bumping the thread and keeping it at the top of the page.
Hopefully if we can keep it going someone important might take notice and stop this addon and future attempts to create something similar
I kind of hope the addon catches on lol. How is one guy on discord going to run this thing?
And for this kind of attitude this addon is amazing.
He can’t. But the “Watch the World Burn” approach will always suck for the players that get hurt before it gets shut down.
I just don’t think it’s something to really worry about. While it’s funny watching people defend it and while I have to question their critical thinking, this thing isn’t long for this world.
Blizzard just needs to hand out more temp bans for the worst kind of behavior. Maybe they already do…I have no idea. I don’t know if I’ve ever known someone that was banned for in game chat.
And then it’s still up to an individual opinion as to whether or not the player makes the list, it’ll be solely up to that individual GM, which is exactly how moderation on the forum works. Masses report, a mod looks over it and deems whether or not the OP is suspended or not. Posters have had comments removed simply because players didn’t like it and deemed it offensive, whether or not it broke ToS.
So in the end it’s still up to an individual if it makes the cut or not.
Seems redundant to me and useless.
For instance, I grouped with a Hunter recently who didn’t use his pet the whole dungeon, trolled with turning on aspect to daze the tank, needed on cloth spellpower gear, ignored our questions/pleas/advice. We kicked him during the run since he wasn’t responding in chat and sure enough he went and pulled a bunch of trash and a boss before being teleported out.
Solution: we put him on ignore and will never have to see/group with them again.
Done.
No need to waste time shaming them in trade, discord, or addons. Just ignore and move on.
This isn’t even totally true either.
I was very much a big player among the top guilds and servers at the time (for reference, I
was on the same server as Leeroy Jenkins). It was common for people to go on a trade chat crusade against people who ninjad gear or did otherwise unsavory things (as well as on the old realm forums) but there was no guarantee anything would come of it.
My guild had their own internal forums and kept a blacklist that was essentially people who were either gkicked or otherwise peeved off the officers/GM…but it wasn’t like we cross referenced the list when running a random dungeon and players could eventually change their name and short of adding them as a friend and constantly checking to see if that name changed on your list, you never knew.
This doesn’t even touch on the fact that you had guilds made up of people who actively supported donkeyhats. These types were well known to steal raid ID’s and pug stuff just to ninja and openly taunt everyone that they are better and thus deserve it more. They would even brag about it when called out and tell someone to do something about it.
Blacklists worked FAR better in a game like Everquest where you literally couldn’t play any portion of the game without the support of a group. WoW is and has always been much more solo friendly and communities far too large to effectively police up to the point the donkeyhats were anything more than just mildly inconvenienced.
I mean you actually can’t really stop an addon of this nature. What is Blizz going to do? What can they tweak on their various API’s that would ruin the addon? In fact, it can be argued they would be just as guilty of trying to moderate social interation as the addon is being accused of doing by simply trying to ban it.
If anything, Blizzard needs to take note and see WHAT the addon is trying to achive and give players better OBJECTIVE data points to capture and use. A commendation system that uses unique ID to prevent farm groups from inflating each others scores is a WAY better (though not perfect) attempt that would help that as would adding a statistic to track abandoned key runs vs completed runs…
Again, any commendation system is only going to allow for positive reviews. They’re not going to create or condone a system where people are kept out of content for reviews that can’t be verified.
I have no idea what Blizzard could actually do, but if this “developer” is going to verify the information himself, the more people that download it, the harder it becomes to run it. What’s he going to do when there’s a thousand reports a day?
what is it called?
About 15 of them have been linked so far. Who knew there were so many different ones?
which addon is this guy talking about though cuz i want it lOL
Just download them all. It won’t work if you only have one.
