What I mean by the past decade or so is that in the early 2000’s it was nowhere near as prevalent and hotly-debated in public discourse as it has been since around 2014(ish). I’m not saying it wasn’t there or wasn’t happening but that it wasn’t as mainstream.

What happened was, social media started to explode, 8 years of Obama, then whatever happened in 2016-2020 caused all of the negative stuff to get magnified by infiniti.

A lot of that coincides with the evolution of social media and how it went from something where you’d interact with people you know IRL to something that exponentially connected hundreds and thousands of people together in a way that’s going to cause conflict because it’s already going to be difficult enough to even handle a group of 10 and not have some sort of disagreement.
Also in the 2000s, people were a lot more fragmented within their interest groups. Then it started to congregate overtime.

Yeah I don’t get why that would be a ban, but bringing up the LGBT stuff and SJW will likely not at all help here. Regardless of what people want to pretend tons of people do stick to their social clubs and circles of like minded people. And I’m not talking about just politics but anything obviously.
