Go ahead and poll 100,000 Alliance on which came first. AFKing or the map problems. 99,999 of them will say the map is the cause, with Vartonis being the lone laughing stock.
You can look at the post history of AV since it launched. People, especially those in Alliance pre-mades, complained about PUGs (especially those not willing to give raid assist or join discord), leeches, AFKers and bots. Alliance PUGs complained about queue dodging and being mass-reported by Alliance pre-mades. What they didn’t complain about really was the map. That is, until the ability to pre-made was changed.
I love how disingenuous people are being. Both can be right, it’s the map and the players. A slight imbalance in one interacts with issues in the other and the situation multiplies as time goes on.
However, you aren’t going to fix the players’ attitude just by willing it to be so. You have to fix tangible things and, hopefully, encourage people to come back and try more. That means correcting the map, doing premades properly, changing differences between the factions, fixing queue issues, and so on.
At this point it’s going to take radical corrections to do anything and it’ll probably be a while before things settle down to in a better place. Or we can just do as Blizzard has done and give up on the matter entirely.
