High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

It will be interesting to see how that goes in relation to this. The assumption, from what I’ve seen so far, is that she will replace Sylvanas as leader of forsaken. That means that lightforged undead would be a Horde AR.

Calia’s model is a human model, which would give horde access to the human model. Where does that leave the argument of model exclusiveness in regards to high elves and blood elves?

Well, based on my own opinion when I look at it from the perspective of my Troll BM 8.x main that would be the event that shatters the Horde. She was raised from the dead by a Naaru and Alliance NPCs and suddenly she’s going to lead us? Not a chance. I would be highly recommending the Illidan Protocol.

And consider the reaction of the Undead for a moment - “You mean, all this time, The Light™ could have saved us from this fate but left us all these years in misery and pain…and now we’re supposed to follow her?”

Now, what if they are planning LightForged Undead as a crossover model for the Alliance and that is their planned Alliance AR announcement?

I just now noticed Blizzard deleted the “Why high elves don’t work” thread.

Weird.

Personally I find the idea of lightforged undead ridiculous anyway, but I think it’s more likely they will be an alliance AR than horde anyway.

Whaaaaat? that thing had like 12k post on it. Maybe its just buried? Thats stupid if they deleted it.

Did they? I know it’s been locked as much as we have and that there seemed to be some issues with unlocking it, but it’s odd they would delete it.

I noticed because I wanted to see how many among the Top 10 largest threads were about high elves, lol. I noticed it was missing, so I went to my profile to check my most liked posts (#1 was in that thread), and my post was missing as well.

The thread vanished. It’s not locked, it’s not invisible, it’s gone.

Theres already a thread going about the lightforged undead. Its a horrible idea and one of the ones i was really against since people suggested it.

I could not agree with you more…and if they do announce it as the next Alliance AR I may just take some time away from the forums because it’s going be like this around here…

I’m not jumping to conclusions about “Light undead” until I see actual lore about them. “Lightforged undead” is a nickname made by fans and not their official description.

For me, they are not meant to be undead, but some kind of angelic agents empowered by the Light.

Add golden wings and a halo to Calia and she gets 100% more interesting.

Personally I’m okay as long as it’s just a couple of characters like Calia and not mass produced to be an AR not that, having more than fifty is an excuse for it to be an AR.

If they had a whole patch and sub faction devoted to them with some story it could work out maybe…

But I have a slight hunch that we may see some silver covenant involvement if they finish the windrunner story this expac.

I like her model, but there would have to be pretty solid storytelling for me to like them as an AR.

And considering void elves “story”, well my hopes are not high.

yeah i dont see it happening. the undead fantasy trope is already playable. i think exchanging the elf models were as far as they are willing to go with blurring the faction identities

Is this how you base your argument? If that’s the case then night elves should have filled the tall dark elf fantasy trope.

It’s a story not told yet, so it’s easy to jump to conclusions.

I’ll wait and see. Maybe they are not even intended to be an Allied Race. Or an Alliance one. For all we know, Calia may become the leader of the Forsaken and the single “redeemed” there is. Or maybe the redeemed is a Horde allied race of forsaken that get ascended by some kind of ritual. Maybe Calia’s model is an exception and the others use a “healed” forsaken model as a base. Anything is possible.

Who knows, maybe allied races are going quietly in the night, there have been many different races we have interacted with during and after the AR feature that probably won’t make the cut.

If that’s the case hopefully we get high elves as a core race. Having their own start zone would be amazing.

If that discussion has taught me anything it’s that all the ‘arguments’ that have to do with the lore in this game (including this discussion) are pointless, with a capital P. There is no solid lore in this game and so the majority of the discussions are going to continue to go round and round as most of them are actually just speculation.
