Long Story short, a guild on Classic mass reported someone while they were trying to do Scarab Lord which resulted in an automatic suspension.
Since then all players who falsely reported have received a 6 month - Permanent Ban for abusing the report function.

I still don’t see something to be happy about, I mean, that just means it’s still possible even if consequences are there.

Only because this was publicized and organized is how it was caught.

Got a source on that?

I don’t see anything about it on WoWhead (well, not yet as of 7:04 ET), and MMO-champ only has something about Blizzard threatening account actions for using same faction PC’s to empower bosses that gain health/damage from player deaths.

And it is a thing, already been proven that they will suspend accounts automatically pending GM review

As far as I can see, if people care enough to do that, it must be a party over there.

Yeah, that’s cool, but it can happen again if people don’t care.

The pathway to mass report someone is in the game for those who wish to abuse it. Even if consequences happen to them.

Bah. Was hoping it’d be a leak of the actual e-mail they got, not just the guild lead claiming people got booty blasted out of WoW.

Also, who the hell uses Discord light mode? Dear god my eyes.

Have a look at their update at WoWhead. The suspension wasn’t at all automated. Unfortunately, a bunch of players put in actual tickets and a GM (a real person) suspended the account in error. Those who put in the false reports instead were actioned and the wrongfully suspended player was sorted out.

Must have been automatic mutes for “Spam” or “Language” I was thinking of then. I know that’s a thing.
