I think you are missing it. You could be given 480 gear right this second. However, you still aren’t going to do high keys / raid because you lack experience. Gear is just a means to the end. You get that experience, and gear, by working your way up from lower keys and lower raids. Yes, that is going to be a lot harder at the end of the expansion, but since you just came back, you’ll be reset like everyone else come SL.
Your argument is pretty hollow.
A more casual player can buy tokens, then buy runs. POOF ilvls.
(hint: even players who do have the skill to “properly” do it will go this way)
Also, time is a form of difficulty. Albeit an indirect one.
Exclusionistas and dedicated guild groups (I hate the derogatory nature of the current verbiage) get mythic raid gear >now<, or a lot sooner. Which gives them the time advantage to pursue, at a significant boost to their efficiency, the other goals in the game (gold, xmog, whatever floats boat) for longer. More gold. More everything.
Players who fall outside of those groups stay on the treadmill at all times and only may get the opportunity to cross that threshold before a patch (or xpac) moves the goal lines. Even then, at a considerable time penalty.
There’s no incentive, at all, to improve their gameplay between the absolute vile toxicity people display for their “lessers”, the absolute necessity for buying runs to meet arbitrary “gratification” requirements to participate outside of guilds, the fact that you can even buy runs in the first place using RL money (via the token cutout).
TBH I am a super Casual Player. I play Many Many hours a day but choose to AFK lots with the Kiddos throughout the day. I don’t feel I deserve Mythic level gear for i have not earned it and have no need for it in the content I do. That said as a player like myself the idea of being able to “progress” or “upgrade” Said gear through time consuming activities over a period would be awesome. I don’t mean
to the point of Mythic level but to a point or further if the time it takes reflects in an ilvl. This would give players like me something to do daily and a sense of progression/power growth. But NO I do NOT deserve M gear for twiddling my diddle.
Although I do plan on raiding in Slands as a result of some coming free time during Guild Raid times.
you already have a path to get there you just dont want to walk on it. you just want to afk get top tier gear which is bad for the game.
Yea I am at a loss with you too. It’s so easy to get gear now a days. I don’t understand what these people are talking about.
In wrath we didn’t have a warfront handing us Heroic qaulity gear.
We didnt have a weekly quest giving us raid loot.
We didn’t have a weekly chest that gives us mythic quality gear for like a 10 key.
We didn’t have currency to buy our best in slot chest, shoulders and helm.
We didn’t have LFR.
We didn’t have the ability to craft a Mythic quality raid piece for our character.
We didn’t have community where you can essentially be on a guild with anyone from any server doing content.
We didn’t have world quests or emissary’s where mobs we 2 shot give us loot upgrades everyday.
How much easier do you guys want it? They couldn’t make it any easier unless they just handed you the items…
actually i think we did in wrath badges
I mean from my personal experience I stopped playing WoW around Uldir because of how bad I perceived the game to be. I shut down my guild that has been up and running ever since MoP because our core was just done with it. A group of friends in a different guild convinced me to give SL a shot and I logged on to get some things done and they asked me if I wanted to do a Heroic raid. They said they’d vouch for me if anyone asked about my ilvl so I said okay.
They started up in Group Finder and in less than 2-5 minutes a CE Mythic guild showed up. When they questioned why I was so low ilvl they told them that I was a friend who was returning to the game. They then decided to get on Hunters who were Mythic geared and fed me all the loot in the raid. Which jumped me from 390ish to 460.
From my perspective, I don’t really see why players are so afraid of other veterans. Toxicity exists for sure but that’s on all levels of the game.
This was how it was before in expansions ranging from WoD backwards. Casual players and Hardcore players end game was getting the full Conquest set. And I can remember a ton of players even when I was going into Random BGs who I’d blow up because of the gear difference and yet it was still extremely popular because the gameplay was on point.
Getting beat up is essentially the training for PvP because you don’t know what you’re doing at the beginning. Even if you were just as geared as your opponents you’d still probably get smacked. Essentially it’s trial and error. If a casual can’t handle that then it doesn’t matter where the gear difference lies between them and their opponents.
Wait … how does only doing open world content keep you from getting xmogs or gold? How does Mythic raiding help you get those things?
Next someone will post how people should be able to go back and get the Mage Tower appearances from Legion … smh
TBH , I hate paying for gear, I pref to obtain it from dead boss.
And even those you still had to do the relevant dungeon content at the time at the highest difficulty. Which was heroic. These people are doing warfronts that you basically cannot lose… for heroic quality gear and complaining that they cant gear…
true (10 char)
You mean this? Please bring back mage tower weapon appearances
no, I just don’t have the hours a day to get there the way it is currently, no one wants to AFK to better gear just some of us have a life outside this game but still would like a path to progress even if its way slower. And as I’ve said twice before your precious raid/m++++ gear can still be shinier than mine, just allow me to upgrade MY gear the way I want to. I’m not asking to be your equal oh great and mighty raider, I just want to progress the way I can and not have to shard/scrap the same damn piece over and over. I swear I can not for the life of me see how that harms the elites in any way.
Your talking about the warfront gear that drops at 370? What?
i didnt realize a 30 min m+ was hours a day
Don’t worry the best part is. These are the same people that complain Raider io handicap’s them. However they fail to realize Raider io wouldn’t even exist if it wasn’t so easy to get gear.
The only reason it became a thing is because nobody can judge players on their gear anymore.
and you get a trophy and you get a trophy and you get a trophy…
Drops 460 pieces my dude. You do the heroic version and queue into a group. Easiest heroic loot of your life. 30 mins of picking up wood… Super challenging content.
If you could farm lower level gear and increase your current stuff, you should definitely be gearing faster than someone waiting on RNG + weekly lockout to get something a few ilevels higher.
Something like you propose I could only see as an end of expansion catch up like they did with the corruption vendor.
Well its true IO score keeps trash away from your radar. Its helpful, but this guys that being rejected due to IO score, CANT fkn keep crying. Why they wont go play some other games?
And i know IO is a pain, in Legions i got nice score of 3.3K and i could get to any 15+ ( no nid go higher as the ilvl gear was maxed at this m+ lvl )
Now i joined BFA at its end, I didnt get IO so max M+ that i did it was 5+ only.
I got rejected few times, and I know how this cry babes feel. But that shouldnt be a obstacle that has to be demolished, it should be something that Blizz would help to overcome. Ok ok I know, LFG for M+ its a bad idea. But they have some skinny brains so maybe they can come up with something.
Imagine having two game versions, for casuals and for organised players.
How to do it is to actually do the M+ LFG system, on a new servers.
You would be able to move any of your characters on that server, but never be able to go back on serve where u came from or any that is lets say marked as ‘normal’
Devs should start sorting this type of players, not fkn integrating them with all hardcore players.
