Exactly. I’ve edited since this so I will clarify further.
My point was that the troll-like reaction of the poster I responded to was asinine in the fact that their point was to say “oh look you are just whining meaninglessly.” When there are legitimate arguments/points for being against DHKs.
Should they not be part of classic? I don’t see why they should not be in it as you stated and I also see why they shouldn’t. My main point here is my base opinion on why their removal would be positive. But should they be removed is another question overall. One I am not invested in enough to thoroughly answer.
I’ve also said on other threads (and in here somewhere, I thought) that if we were changing the systems for betterment, sure, there’s other options. But they weren’t removed until the Honor system was removed, and that was not in Vanilla. A historical recreation isn’t trying to rewrite history to be nicer or better. Blizzard doesn’t want to make a second stream of WoW despite the number of Classic+ posts being made.
Maybe they’ll change their mind after Classic is very popular, but in doing so they’ll make a third game, not change the locked in stone (after CP6) 1.12 recreation.
I’ve often said I’d love to see them go and make an “alternate timeline WoW” which this one stays much closer to vanilla gameplay but add expansions. This time with carefully thought out changes and maybe even asking the general classic player base what would be a better decision. i.e. adding guild banks for example.
I am completely against guild banks in Classic, but I wouldn’t mind them being added to the “alternate timeline” wow. But these changes need severe well-thought out decision making assuring that they will not cause great troubles. Also a team willing to remove anything added that might have a large negative impact on the game. This would also include an introduction with great emphasis on why said change was being undone so that players would thoroughly understand how it negatively changed the game.
One can dream.
Edit: An example I’d love to see is a classic-like Death Knight. Reduce some of the spells and so forth. Give them a requirement to farm an item or so to be able to summon their ghoul companion much like warlocks and their stones. Have them start at level 1 but having been captured and tested on like what we saw with the worgen. Giving them a unique starting area of course.
Give them a purchasable reagent or maybe something they should attain that allows them to use the ghoul after death ability like shamans. Have them get level 40 mount free like paladins and warlocks along with a major quest mount later down just like them.
The ideas are endless!
Oooo give them different- okay yeah I need to stop.
Agreed. I think the MMO niche is ready for another well built “hard” game. And WoW Rebooted would be an interesting one. Hell, we might even get guild/player housing in cities. But first we have to prove that the genuine Vanilla experience is popular, and pulling out all the stuff that made life “harder” defeats the argument for a new game.
I’ll avoid giving my ideas on a perfect “WoW Reboot”
Not true at all, Me and Luuni clearly don’t agree on the DHK but i don’t think He She It is a troll, we just agree to disagree. Maybe you’re just a bit newer age on what troll is.
It is funny it’s one of the shortest-lived changes but we’ll be getting it. I think it’s kind of cool from an RP perspective and just forces more situational awareness if you’re trying to PvP around civilians. Maybe it was far from perfect and poorly implemented, but it does add an extra dimension to the game that is no longer there, and I think many of us are looking forward to classic being as different from retail as possible. People will need to readjust to it accordingly.
