Disconnecting every 15-20 minutes

My internet is fine, connection is fine, just WoW keeps DC’ing every 15-20 minutes no matter what I’m doing.
Happening to a couple other bnet friends I’ve chatted with.

It’s happening to a lot of people. Mine will randomly DC, or if I try to switch characters the screen just goes black and DCs again. I am pretty sure the launcher update broke something. But for some reason they are not acknowledging it despite hundreds of posts about it. I think all we can do right now is sit tight and hope they fix it soon.

This has been happening to me and four other players (that I know) in the same geographical area (Pacific Northwest) since last Tuesday’s maintenance. I am starting to wonder if this is an area thing or a WoW thing. I checked several online reports about outages or issues in my area, but nothing came up. I don’t understand why Blizzard is not answering these issues. I know it is not just me, my computer, or even my house (cable). But it also seems like it isn’t happening to everyone in WoW. Some answer would be greatly appreciated.

The best way to prove what you believe to be the case is to run the WinMTR and post it . Then we will be able to to see what and where the problem is.

I am too getting kicked , thought at first it was me being in a high pop area on the realm. Sent my alt out to outland… boom. Booted so often. I do hope this gets fixed soon. Gaming before work is my zen moment :relieved:

Hey everyone,

Thank you all for reporting this. There aren’t any known server-side issues that would be causing players to disconnect, and while we aren’t aware of any, that certainly doesn’t rule out an emerging regional issue. As others have noted in the thread, we’ll need examples of WinMTR tests that are taken while you experience the issue in-game. This will give us the data needed to investigate a potential peering or backbone issue.

Here are the instructions:

  1. Download the tool from this page
  2. Enter the game IP into the “host” field. The IP address for our games are listed on the WinMTR instructions page above.
  3. Start the test and play the game for at least 15 minutes. Make sure that a disconnect occurs while the WinMTR test is running. Click Stop then Start again if a disconnect doesn’t happen within 15 minutes of playing.
  4. After recording a disconnect, click Stop then click “export text” and save the WinMTR file in an easy to find location.
  5. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the WinMTR. It’ll look like this:

If you have issues pasting here, please use Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).

Same with me.

Here’s my paste. I’m continually being disconnected as soon as I log in to ANY Dragonflight Zone. It has been happening since last week’s reset. I have never experienced disconnects from the game with this kind of frequency before. It’s incredibly rare that I ever disconnect unless there is some sort of DDoS attack.

Here to report that I’m also disconnecting every 20-30 minutes.

Will that tool record the information if your computer freezes? That is what is happening tome , I have to use the power button to shut down and restart.

Lüneth - Thank you for providing your WinMTR test! Was this test running while you were playing and experienced a disconnect? The test is squeaky-clean in terms of evidence of instability.

Blainq - A system lockup would be a different issue, and not something caused by a network-related problem. Please create a new thread for your issue and provide your computer’s DXDIAG file in your post so we can check it for any potential problems.

Yes I was running it while the disconnect happened. I ran it twice just to make sure. The disconnect happens every time I log in. This is happening to several of my friends. It happens less than 30 seconds after I log in. It will even happen while sitting on the Choose Character screen with a WOW51900319.

The instructions ask for 15 minutes of “gameplay”, however it disconnects immediately so there is no gameplay to be had.

I’m having the exact same issue here. This happens to me everyday without fail and have been going on for about two weeks now. I get into the game and I get disconnected about 20 seconds later and it doesn’t stop. I get thrown back to the login screen with the error WOW51900319.

I ran the WinMTR test, pressing stop after I get disconnected and here’s what I have:

You have crazy packet loss at the godaddy hop and it gets worse after that.

Change your DNS to Google or Cloud Flare… if that doesn’t route around it then call your ISP. Your issue starts way before it even gets to Blizzard.

We both are only DCing on WoW. At the same time. In the same area. Two different PC’s and locations. Both started issues last week.

The DC issues only stop if we are in a non-DF zone. Does our ISP know I’m in Valdrakken vs Stormwind?

We play multiple other MMO’s and have no issues other than WoW.

It has nothing to do with our ISP.

Looking at your post history, all you do is spam that everyone’s problem (no matter how irrelevant) are their ISP giving them issues. Please find a better way to help people.

Just to add that I have no issues at all with other Blizzard games or any other online games. It’s only just WoW for the past 2 weeks and it’s weird that the only way to not get myself disconnected is to not logout in any DF zones. If I ever forget, I will need to quickly hs or teleport myself away the moment I load into game and pray that I get past the loading screen.

If it’s just an ISP issue on my side, this doesn’t explain why some of my friends (Luneth included) who live in other countries with different PCs and ISPs would face the exact same issue as I do. I honestly can’t help but be skeptical and I’m tired of having to deal with this every time I try to log into WoW.

Would really appreciate some help on this.

Lüneth Has 21% packet loss on the frontier hop. Don’t know why you would say its clean.
