[CS Lounge] Winter Veil Cheer - Cozy Up with Hot Cocoa

It is snowing out gently! Best kind of pretty snow. Should all melt tomorrow and I can go pick up my prescription.

/Sees there is fresh coffee, bacon, chocolate covered bacon, and dessert. Also that the pillows are freshly fluffed. Stokes the fire and adds more wood. Sets up the hot cocoa station, whipped cream, marshmallows, and various addins and toppings.

:coffee: :bacon:

Hope you all having a great night!

Trying some Taco Bell for dinner since they are in my city finally! Tastes pretty good! Ordered it via Skip!

One more day of work this week too and then I’m off for next (4) days afterwards. Looking to do some Plunderstorm this weekend to earn the new rewards from it!

Hmm. Every time I’d tried Taco Bell (I guess about three times) I was disappointed.

I guess I can give them one more go next time I’m in the vicinity of one.

There is a Taco Bell about a 5 minute walk from where I live, and that store makes really bad food, where the Taco Bell in the city makes really good food, despite the one near me and the one in the city are about 10 minutes away from each other by train. I don’t really get how one can be bad, and one can be good.

Here’s hoping you have a much (much) faster recovery than I’ve had. I’ve been using a can for seven years now. I’m used to it, but it’s still limiting. Wishing for full recovery so you can be you again ASAP.

Just make sure you don’t kick the bucket.

Their grilled cheese burritos are really, really good. I order mine minus the red “fiesta strips” (because they’re nasty) and they’re pretty damned close to the quesaritos that are normally only available if you order via their app so they can track you at a personal level. Since both cost roughly the same, I’ll just stick to the grilled cheese burrito.

Order via their kiosks. I’ve yet to get an order wrong that way since it clearly lists what you want. And you can swap ingredients ultra easy there. The kiosks they use are set up so much better than McDonald’s are. What was it you ordered that you found just “meh”?

Management. There is a Burger King in Castro Valley near my dentist’s practice that has staff that are so stingy that for an order of two 12 piece fiery chicken fries I got one, count them, one packet of BBQ sauce. For an order that size anywhere else (even other BKs) I get three and they’ll give me a couple more if I ask nicely. So I asked here and they gave me one more for a total of two, and only after giving me a bewildered look like I was some freakish alien monster from another planet, just for having the gall to ask for a reasonable amount of dipping sauce.

From now on if I want BK I’ll go to the one by Chabot College. It’s out of my way, but the Castro Valley and south Hayward BKs both have stingy management and suck. Royally. It’s why I go to Castro Valley for my Jack in the Box runs even though I have two that are much closer. I used to to go Union City for my Taco Bell, which is a good 10 miles in each direction, but now that I’ve learned the CV Taco Bell is just as good, I can get my fix in a closer locale.

Edit: Oh, and anyone that tries McDonald’s “McValue” menu with the BOGO+$1, the “deal” won’t show up until you’re at the very end of the ordering process when you tap the checkout button. It drove me away the first time because I thought they screwed up the software and it wasn’t working, as the “second for $1” didn’t appear when I added the second qualifying item like it always has with their regular BOGO+$1 deals. I only discovered this by experimenting. Most people won’t try that or know to do that and will walk away, angry that their time was wasted. It’s very, very bad practice to only show the “deal” at the very end of the checkout process. It’s like the deal version of hidden fees that only show up when you’re about to put in your credit card number online.

My biggest issue with Taco Bell is that the ground beef is just way too greasy and makes me ill for that reason almost every time I eat it. They have steak for some items but I think cheap steak is bad, so I just get chicken or vegetarian(ish) options.

A family friend’s family legend is of the time they went to London and ordered Egg McMuffin, and requested mustard. After extensive consultation behind the counter, the staff determined that no, mustard was not an allowed condiment for McMuffins and they couldn’t have any.

Their steak is more like cheap carne asada, minus the marinade flavor. It isn’t bad actually. And yes, their ground beef is incredibly greasy, but ironically, so too is just about every other ingredient that isn’t a veggie or sauce it would seem. Before I can eat my grilled cheese burritos I need to gently roll them on some paper towels because the tortilla is so greasy I actually have trouble holding it. That is one improvement most customers would love to see - less grease.

This would have been an instant “OK, you just lost my business” moment. I dip my sausage mcmuffins in mustard and a lot of people prefer that as a condiment on those sammiches.

Don’t go into it expecting high quality Mexican food. I
like (that may be too strong of a word, but we’ll go with it) Taco Bell, but mainly for a change from burgers and chicken chunks at all the other fast food joints.

Quality of hires, quality of management. There’s a Taco Bell near where I used to live that has become a local meme. Their food is hilariously bad and the service is worse.

It was amazingly clear this morning for our walk. The moon is still pretty bright, and you could see Mars, lined up perfectly with the heads of the Gemini twins; kind of cool.

Morning, folks.

Sick today. Blaming being invited to a close gathering and picked up a cold. Nothing serious but resting up today.

On the plus side, it’s Friday. Hoping everyone has a good day and weekend!

This is actually pretty funny. I like mustard sometimes on an egg sandwich, particularly on a crappy McD or BK one. I had a similar experience at Subway when ordering a breakfast sandwich. I asked for mustard and they said no. :man_shrugging:
