I figured the end of the year is a good time to create one myself. I hope everyone has a happy holidays and a joyous new year.
For the new thread, whoever is the last to post in the next CS Lounge thread when it closes please be sure to quote the following.
If this is missed in new a new lounge thread I’ll try to post it soon after the thread is made.
Let’s cover the rules of the CS Lounge again, for those who may not be aware, as well as rules for starting the new thread.
We allow one off-topic thread to be maintained in the Customer Support forum where regular and visiting posters may engage in more social discussions not directly related to World of Warcraft or other support issues. A few rules apply as follows:
Discussion of forum moderation, or other users/threads, should be avoided.
The thread will be set to automatically lock at a random time, though it will be somewhere around the 30 day mark (subject to change, Centaurs are fickle creatures).
The person who last posts in the thread, when it closes, will be able to create the new one.
If the new one isn’t made within 30 minutes, someone else is able to so as to keep the thread going.
We’ll try to set the time when the thread locks during normal hours.
The title should always start with [CS Lounge]. Any additional header needs to abide by policy.
As always, be mindful of the Code of Conduct when posting here, but more so, remember to be kind to one another. The best way to have a community we can all be proud of is to set the example of how we should all be treating each other.
I watched this video and seen the rainbow umbrellas they had and made me a bit jelly, so I’m gonna order my own.
It’s always intresting to see folks point of view of things and see what think about about parts of the world. (If you find this enjoyable, you should look at his rainforest video.)
I think the fox already took bacon if there was any.
The Lounge does have a holiday tree that was put up today, and stockings by the fireplace. Cushions are fluffed, gnome coffee pool is filled.
/Sets out hot fresh cocoa, coffee, hot water, assorted teas, toppings, and creamers.
Hope all are having a lovely evening. We have been mild this week and I have gotten several walks in! Good for my mental health too. This weekend we are going to be COLD though. Like get out the huge sweaters and down blankets cold. Def cocoa weather IRL.
I MIGHT have my sibling and her family here Friday night, or maybe they drop by Sat. Maybe they don’t at all. They have sportsball plans that are up in the air. I am making bread anyway and cookies that she wanted. Dough is rising now. Will go in the fridge overnight. Really does taste better that way. Also less work that way.
Around here in this Lounge we have a fox who keeps demanding it and making off with any left out. I try to make him his own little batch so he does not take the platter off the food buffet.
Centaurs and wintery treats. It’s starting to feel like the holidays!
Things going well here. Finished my pre-hire paperwork, so looking like I’m going back to work soon. I’ve been exercising to make sure I can stay on my feet, but I’m just hoping my body doesn’t do anything I don’t really want it to do.
Bit nervous, but it will feel really good being able to work again.
Curious as to what everyone’s holiday traditions are?
Being full blooded Italian from a large Sicilian family, we have some sort of pasta dish at every holiday meal. Our tradition is to have Spaghetti Bolognese and Italian Sausage with peppers and onions on Christmas Eve when the whole family is here. Along with that we always have Canoli , and Cuccidadi (Italian fig cookies). And wine… lots of wine!
We usually have our standard holiday meals. For Thanksgiving it’s Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Stuffing, Green Bean Casserole and Yams (not candied but with pineapple and brown sugar).
For Christmas we usually do a Honeybaked Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, and Yams.
Oh, that sounds good. I have mostly Scottish and Polish on my mom’s side, no clue on my dad but my 23 and me shows almost entirely Northwestern and Eastern European.
My Polish great grandmother used to make Perogies and Golumpki (stuffed cabbage). I didn’t cook back then and I don’t think anyone else on that side got her particular version of recipes, so it is sadly lost to time. I’ve made various versions Golumpki over the years now. Not for the holidays, but at least a few times a year.
when i was younger, we always had ham on Christmas eve and turkey on Christmas day. The last couple years nobody has wanted to celebrate the holiday but i think this year i might attempt to cook a turkey or better yet talk my brother into cooking it lol
I love cooking, but making a big meal with a bunch of dishes you have to time out freaks me out a little. I made Chicken Tikka Masala this week and everything went great until I realized I forgot the rice. Made the Tikka and the Naan, but spaced it on the rice. O.o
oooh that sounds good even without the rice! it’s just my 2 kids and me and one of them hates all forms of food unless it’s chicken nuggets or fries lol i was given a turkey from my sons school so i’m trying to talk my brother who is an excellent cook to come over and make it lol
We really don’t have much for traditions and we don’t spend holidays together anymore. People are just far apart and busy right now. No animosity or anything. Just sort of happened during/after the pandemic.
Otherwise sort of normal Christmas stuff. Tree, stockings that my mom made. Open one present on Xmas eve. We usually also went for a ride looking at lights and had cocoa one of the evenings before xmas. Dad made home made eggnog (non alcoholic unless you spike it yourself) and we had that xmas morning when opening presents. I have posted his rambling recipe on here before. It is a favorite with friends but has ruined store eggnog for them forever.
Dinner is usually a beef rib roast these days. Standard sides. Mashed potatoes and such. We don’t do any of the stuff from cans or stuff covered in marshmallows, etc.
I suppose the only tradition we used to have that is unusual is Southern Maryland Stuffed Ham. It is a corned ham that is sliced into, stuffed with spicy greens, wrapped in cloth, and boiled. Served sliced thin, usually on soft small sandwich rolls. Very very localized dish.
or
Every local will tell you why those are wrong and their family has the best one. Huge debate on ratio of cabbage to greens for example
Like most years these days I will be soloing the holiday boss and I don’t have any traditions really. I do have two small xmas trees set up though. White lights, snowflakes, metallic ornaments, animals, birds. That sort of winter theme.
