[CS LOUNGE] Shadowstepping into the Shadowlands

It’s been raining all day and that’s just fine with me. I would like to take a nap though

Heh. I’d have purposely tried to get Keydar killed just to break his DPS meters.

Blizzard: “Ahhh…a nice break from the heatwaves and slightly better air quality. Nothing can mess this up.”

2020: “Ya know, I’m getting sick and tired of having to have someone hold my beer every few hours…”

Blizzard: “<Insert Geralt of Rivia’s favorite word for unfortunate situations>.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s DBM. It has options to silence a lot of annoying things, at least it did when I was last able to play.

Sabrent now makes an 8 TB TLC based NVMe drive. That eye watering price though…

Did your primary character change realms recently? For MVPs that’s the number one way to screw up being able to post on their primary character.

Unless you have an HEDT mobo + CPU with at least 44 lanes, most of those NVMe slots are going to run off of the PCH and will have a maximum theoretical transfer of PCIe 3.0 x4 link width minus overhead. Their primary limitation, should you be considering RAID 0-ing them is that all of those NVMe slots share bandwidth with something else on the PCH (usually SATA ports and/or one or more of the PCIe slots) and they all share the same DMI 3.0 link to the CPU, which has bandwidth for a single NVMe drive’s worth of throughput, minus overhead + whatever else is taking bandwidth from the PCH at any given time. But if you have an HEDT board, most slots will give you full bandwidth for juicy RAID 0.

That $1500 GPU is indeed a bitter pill to swallow, but holy hell is it beast mode. And nVidia made it a rather huge point to show everyone that the PCB for it is half the size of a typical GPU. I suspect with that being the case we might *actually* see a dual GPU version next year when yields have increased at Samsung’s 8nm fab. Such a beast could very well drive 8k60 at a somewhat stable framerate.

If I had the specs I could probably give you a decent ballpark on which SSD to get. I’ve already got an idea which I’d recommend for you, but it helps to know what your current rig is and how much storage you have on it at the moment.

Solid setup there. I’d have gone with an 850W PSU to handle the power spikes of the GPU better, but it may well hold up even under full load since it’s a SeaSonic (those really are the best out there). SeaSonics are spendy, but worth it if you can afford them.

I should really start playing on my Windows install since I got it for $9 on Steam a couple months ago during the massive summer sale. Only thing I really didn’t like about it was that you couldn’t assign the two unused shoulder buttons to a function like “AoE size lock” so you didn’t have to do that obnoxious charge-up for Every. Last. Watering. I hated always missing out on two full days of the season start just because hoeing and watering charge-ups ate up so much of the daily timer.

Ironically, I loved that game so much I just ordered the PC version physical CE + guide book (I love those!): https://www.fangamer.com/products/stardew-valley-switch-pc-collectors-edition-game

I really should hit up NexusMods and see if anyone has come up with a mod that eliminates the need to go to bed every night. That really killed adventuring for me. It was my number one pet peeve with the game as I love just going around and killing baddies as a nice stress reliever.

I’ll trade you your rain for our heat. Firefighters up here sure could use it… :fire: :fire: :fire:

Always have loved fresh apple cider, but what is Pumpkin Cider?

Is it cider with “pumpkin pie spice” like the coffee they call “pumpkin” flavored, if so is it any different than regular mulled cider?

The closest you can get is the cheat mod. You can freeze time.

I could live with that since it does what I’d want anyway. That is, staying out to kill stuff prevents your farm from advancing. I’ve always been willing to have that tradeoff, and freezing time comes pretty close to that. Not quite the full-on tradeoff I’d prefer (yes, I actually would prefer not having my farm grow while I’m out for days at a time), but doable for me.

I do wish fishing was a bit more forgiving though. The twitch reflexes required for the highest tier fish is nuts, especially the ones deep down in the cave(s). At least freezing time would let me fish at my leisure. Nothing sucks more than trying to reel in a high tier fish only to fail and have lost 1-2 hours of in-game time.

So a while back, like 1 1/2 monfhs ago or so I got yelled at because I did not take anything out for dinner, and was at work til 11. Fine my bad I messed up.

Ever since then any time I work this shift I take something out and put it in the sink. So today I got yelled at for not saying it was in the sink. At this point I am fairly certain she is just looking for things to nitpick and argue over. Getting really old. Real bloody fast.

There’s a mod to insta-catch fish.

Pumpkin Cider is cider with pumpkin spices in it. I like to drink it at the local orchard here when I buy my pumpkins to make into Jack-O-Lanterns.

Finally got my new internet connection setup. I switched from Shaw to Telus here in Canada. I’ve got amazing speed as well now as you can see from the link I provided.

Amazing latency in World of Warcraft now as well. I’m averaging 23ms home and 34ms world. The cost for my new internet is at a locked rate of $100 per month for next (2) years with no data cap or limits.

Those are definitely some great numbers! Too bad they can’t offer that for Ontario too :frowning: I mean, I’m closer to $80/month for unlimited 150Mbps down and 15 up, but 900 down and almost 700 up?

We were gona switch to telus were gona think it over the nite call to go with it and then telus wouldnt stick with the previous agents offer so we stuck with shaw.

The largest reason I switched from Shaw to Telus was because the network we had from Shaw couldn’t handle the traffic on my home network. We actively have (3) PCs on the network at any given time doing online gaming.

As a result of this, The network would bog down really bad making games pretty much unplayable to play. We even called Shaw to fix it, But they were unable to.

Now with Telus, We have all (3) PCs on the same network as before, But we got no issues at all happening and our latency is a lot lower from before.

Im the only one with a gaming quality pc so i get most of it lol it was more for the security cameras i think.

Yah. We have (3) high end gaming PCs at my home. All of the PCs are still worth $2,200 brand new. Also they all got 2060 RTX graphics in them with other high-end specs.

Needless to say, We are a gaming household where I live. I play WoW, And the other two play other stuff like Call of Duty.

Got some cleaning done tonight. Workstation is cleared off for my 3d Printer. Next project clear to the window so I can remove the old AC window unit and install a vent fan.

I’ve had bad experiences with Telus’s support in the past - the service was pretty good, the customer support wasn’t.

I’ve since moved to Teksavvy, delivered over Telus lines.

I hope your experiences with Telus are much better than mine.

Oh I don’t want to insta-catch them. I don’t mind earning them, it’s just the wasted time with the clock ticking that really gets me (Mirasol however, would love for the fish catching to be less twitchy so she could enjoy it more).

Hrm. I wonder if your upstream is being limited by QoS or something else. Since 1000Base-T is full duplex on modern equipment, with 1G/1G fiber you should be able to hit between 900-940 Mbit/sec. Hey, might as well get what you’re paying for, right?

What was your upstream previously on Shaw? If you were on cable I’d wager it was either 10 or 15 Mbit/sec, right? That’d definitely cause problems with multiple computers gaming simultaneously or if any of them were uh…uploading anything.

I bet there are some folks on TekSavvy that are missing that nice private tech support forum on DSLReports that went bye bye earlier this year. That was a nice way to get help when “real” customer support wasn’t working.

At least the MVNO situation up in Maple Land™ lends to fewer complete monopolies and some choice. I know a few people, especially on Comcast in various locations, that would kill for just one more choice. I can jump to AT&T Fiber, but I’m unwilling to do so until I can afford a good Mikrotik router with SFP+ ports, a good internal CPU, and a multimode fiber SFP+ termination cage so I don’t have to rent AT&T’s own equipment or have an ONT sticking out of my wall.

i wouldn’t be surprised either honestly. it also wouldn’t be the first time i had problems with dbm either. .-.

DBM is fairly well coded and tested. Granted there is no guarantee it doesn’t conflict with another addon - that’s the nature of having plugins of any sort installed. Easy way to check here is to drag all of your addons out of the Interface folder to a temporary holding folder and start up with only DBM installed and active. If your NPCs remain silent, you’ve found the culprit, at which point you simply need to find the setting within DBM that silences them and change it.

Otherwise you return to the half and half testing routine. Test half of the addons installed, and if the problem is gone, move that half out and test the other half. Repeat the 50/50 split testing until you narrow down the addon responsible and go from there.

I run DBM. It doesn’t silence them for me.
