Compromise for RDF in WOTLK classic

I agree with many classic fans that Dungeon Finders that automatically teleport you to the dungeon are one of the worst cancers in modern WoW.

BUT It’s not the que itself that I think is the problem. It’s the teleporting inside the dungeon that I think is the problem. It encourages these “silent groups” and it prevents people from appreciating the dungeon entrance. Scale, Epicness, And world-building are all important parts of an MMO.

So I think there should be a modern dungeon group finder in the game. Where you pick your role and wait for them to fill. But once the group is filled, and you’re placed into the group you are NOT teleported. Instead what I expect to happen is players will go “Hi. Who is closest to the dungeon?” “I’m pretty close.” “I’m close too.” “I’m far can I get teleported.” “Yea I can start making my way over.” And while you wait to get teleported you can chat with your new group.

In fact it makes no sense for the game not to have a better group finder. People are downloading 3rd party addons and using custom channels.

The only problem I think this compromise doesn’t solve is Alliance wanting to run Scarlet Monastery. (They don’t need to run WC or SFK or other hard to get to Dungeons, but there is no real alliance equivalent for SM) And this problem can be simply solved by giving Alliance a convenient portal from SW to SM.

All the dungeon groups I’ve been in no one says a word after the invite. So what difference does it make.

How? This is by far the dumbest take from the anti-RDF community. The teleport takes nothing out of the game and by no means a ‘cancer’.

How can you say this

Then say this

WHATS THE DAMNED DIFFERENCE. A teleport is a teleport. The anti-RDF crowd are so moronic and dense that its almost inconceivable that these people have made it this far in life.

I’m confused how slogging to the dungeon will encourage people to talk. It doesn’t now. I do appreciate the potential Freudian slip of “classic fans” versus what I believe you meant to say, which was “original fans.” The people snarking about RDF “ruining the game” were 6 when Wrath came out originally and it shows.

Simple understanding of human behavior.

If 5 people are in a group walking to a location that takes 10 to 20 minutes. Than even if YOU won’t talk. A lot of people will talk just because they have the downtime.

Like in classic I started to participate and joke in the barrens chat but only while walking between quests while I had down time.

If you give platers no downtime they won’t socialize as much. This is obvious.

Plus it’s arguably in your benefit to sus out your teammates BEFORE you get to the dungeon.

It doesn’t matter how you get to the dungeon. Being awesome INSIDE of the dungeon is how you get a conversation going.

It’s always “wow prot war is busted” or “OMG im leveling a prot war!”

Or my personal favorite “I wanna be like you Thrallsdadd!”

In the absence of warlocks, summoning stones, mage portals, hearthstones, Shat portals and PvP queue from anywhere maybe you have a case. As it stands…nah, teleport me plzkthx!

Also, why do you even care if others want to group with others from other realms?

Why are you poking you nose where it doesn’t belong into what others are doing?

I never played Wrath because it was always terrible. And this is proven by the fact that player growth stagnated in Wrath compared to TBC or Vanilla.

And people socialize during downtime. Not all people. But would you be here on this forum replying to my post if you had work to do? A dungeon to finish? No. You probably posted this because you had down time.

I’m not even asking for a lot of downtime.

Something I forgot to mention but it’s important that Blizzard makes sure Dungeons aren’t too difficult for both factions to reach. Shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes for enough players to get there to start summoning.

What am i not surprised to read OP post this garage. Just report for trolling and move on, folks.

Stagnate? I think it’s because they had about everyone playing who wanted to play.

Growth gets tough when you already have a massive player base. If you wanna be technical, once they added in the RDF, they gained subs.

It wasn’t till the addition of lfr that subs went down.

Barely anyone believes this.

Most people are perfectly okay with automatically being teleported to dungeons.

Do think PVP teleports to BG’s and Arena’s are also a “cancer”

No. I think standing in Shattrath lower city so you can be close to the que giver is cancer.

Although Wraith does have one of the coolest pvp areas of all time. But since the venders are there you will still see pvpers hanging out there.

I do think battlegrounds giving competitive exp to questing is a bad idea tho. In retail I pretty much always stayed que while I quest. Because I can farm honor while getting decent exp. But it’s honestly annoying.

Bro I met my wife and 2 children from the new LFG system

Have you maybe considered the problem is you??

Idk how you can say that when the game started dying in popularity during the time LFG was introduced.

And also blizzard seems to agree with me to extent. Did you play BFA? Every zone had a quest line that brought you to the entrance of the dungeon. And they were all so cool. And it was so lame to never even get to enter thru this beautifully and lovingly crafted entrance.

I pray every dungeon will have Thrallsdadd!

What is the difference between queueing for BG’s in their current iteration and RDF? Seems like if you hate one you would inherently hate the other. Also, with RDF people could queue for dungeons while questing… they don’t have to sit in the cities.

Yes, because I have geared up and leveled 2 alts from 60-70 just sitting somewhere queuing/teleporting… having trouble understanding how someone could be supportive of one and not the other.

Man WoW players are so sensitive…
Like dude the game could be better. Get over your nostalgia and actually look at things from a game design perspective.

It is true apriori that downtime will encourage more socializing. Nobody is denying that socializing doesn’t still exist.

True, it could have RDF like Wotlk had
