Collectors edition pets

Since we now know that access to classic will be connected to our current WoW accounts, is it safe to assume that we, in classic, will be able to receive our collectors edition pets (for those who have the collectors edition)? I would really like to once again run around with my panda cub, mini diablo, or Zergling pet.

I would advise against that. The only way I could see it work is if they set up classic to use the original Collectors codes. So far NOTHING has been said about it.

The official stance is that you shouldn’t bet on getting anything in Classic that comes from something you did/have on current WoW.

This includes the CE pets. They were specifically asked about in that thread.

Ythisens said that it wasn’t 100% decided but also noted later “Honestly, I would have the expectation that you won’t get them in Classic just because you already own them.”

Ah okay, must have missed that post.

Doubtful. But I still LOVE being one of only 75k people in the entire world that have a mini diablo, pet zergling, and a panda.

really is that the actual number? No wonder people ask so much, the numbers for Murky are probably around 5 - 6k then.

Yes. There were only 75k original collector’s edition produced. I’m in that “club”

Replies here aren’t leaving me hopeful, I’m hoping that they will consider this tho… #nochanges includes me having my collectors pet :stuck_out_tongue:

also this quote, “Honestly, I would have the expectation that you won’t get them in Classic just because you already own them.”, makes no sense its not from something I did or have in current WoW, it’s tied to my account… one that is unlocked for every new character I make.

I mean, not like I’m not going to play because I don’t get a pet but its not like trying to re-redeem a card game item, which understandably, would nto make sense.

well grats fellow member!

They said it’s not likely, but maybe they will release a CE for Classic with some goodies and the old pets.

The general sentiment from Ythisens in that thread is that Classic and Retail WoW are two entirely different games even though subscribing gets you access to both.

wait, so, two separate games, but to play the one, you will have to have the other installed, launch the same application, and you can not choose to pay for each game separately… sure, makes sense to me.

The clients will be separate, like how the Blizzcon demo wasn’t launched through the main BfA client(or PTR is yet another client). Even if they considered it the same game they’d have to do this because the Classic client needs to handle the data in different ways from the BfA one.

They’re essentially two different games you get access to by the same subscription. You wont need to own BfA or have it installed to play Classic.

Nope. You just have to have time on the retail account. You don’t even have to have it installed.

Well that clears that up a bit, good to know that I wont have to muddy up my SSD with retail to play classic. I’ll be disappointed about the pets but I shall get on with it.

It might not be necessary to “have the other installed”, just to say. The Blizzard launcher will run the WOW Client, but just as an account with BfA and an account without BfA have subtle differences, WOW: Classic likely will. (When we played it as part of the BlizzCon virtual ticket, the splash screen was Classic, the version number was 1.13 instead of the modern client / WOW version. It’s not just log in and have it phase to a Classic world.)

NOTE: I don’t see that anyone linked to Ythisen’s actual response - so here:

EDIT: And a little later in the same thread:

Going by the demo, it’s a completely separate installation.

It looks at this point like I should keep my fingers crossed and not get my hopes up.

My final thought is that It is true that my classic experience will be changed without the pet, but nothing ill loose sleep over. Adversely if they did resell said pets as some sort of a new collectors package, that would also change it in that so many more people will have access to those pets and they would be relatively meaningless.

Thank you everyone for the replies on the matter and for the information.

I don’t recall entering a special code for the collector’s edition; the game just recognized the one registration code as belonging to the collector’s edition. I haven’t played since TBC…did Blizzard, at some point, actually remove collector’s edition pets from new characters even for people who bought it?

Having those pets was definitely a part of my vanilla experience and it would be a bummer not to have them.

Someone mentioned Murky, but as I recall, the card I got at Blizzcon 1 was explicitly for one character ever, nontransferable. Sadly, my vanilla/TBC main won’t be traveling back in time onto a Classic server, and I sure as heck don’t want to play current retail, so bye-bye Murky.

I want a bowl of vanilla ice cream that follows you around.
