Worst part is they are dying as a company and refuse to actually fix the issues lol
Happily eats popcorn
Just speaking from experience in the web dev world: generally when you run into unexpected difficulties during a deploy, you stop, make sure your users aren’t being affected, investigate what went wrong, and try again during a less disruptive time.
It seems like the strategy for WoW is somewhat different, in that the developers just continue to investigate and bang their heads against the problem while the users can’t use the service. I’m really somewhat confused as to why it has to be like this…other non-gaming platforms solved this long ago (think Facebook, Twitter, Google services, etc). Maybe this pattern for deploys and maintenance just continues because it’s “always been that way” for WoW, and continues to be somewhat common place (and expected by users) for gaming platforms in general? Who knows.
This still counts as used up game time aswell sucks cause im down to 8 hours untill payday lol
It’s info so some communication is better than none. But the banner STILL says 1pm PDT & that’s obviously not happening. This day reminds me of when Vanilla 1st was released & “maintenance” occurred multiple times because servers would crash back then on occasion. Basically, those of us who work evenings got screwed out of playing WoW today after being strung along about when the servers would be back up MULTIPLE TIMES. I highly encourage a better system of disseminating information. Blizz right now gets a D- on CS today and the only reason they don’t get an F is because you have shown signs of reading what we have to say & in some cases expressed appreciation for info given to you from us, the subscribers.
loll they coud of done this yesterday that all im saying…
Shouldnt we have made it 4PM PDT?
Didn’t have to restart app. 2pm PDT started showing up 2 min ago. 28 min after 1pm PDT.
So how quick you gonna update it to say 3 PM pdt? We all know it’s gonna happen.
Everyone do pushups or something.
You can also pass along how for months I had scheduled to take off work today for my, and my daughter’s, birthday. Our plan was to have a nice day and play some Classic Era together. That was completely ruined by your unannounced maintenance and then 4 (so far) extensions. It is really annoying that Blizzard keeps breaking things because you can’t just leave the real Classic Era alone for those of us who want to play vanilla.
I fully expect none of us will get to play today & perhaps not until tomorrow.
Ive already done my pushups now I wanna play WoW lol
Entire expansions are released with less downtime than deprecating a character clone service. It’s kinda apparent the team working on this isn’t Blizzard’s best.
Saying this 4 hours ago indicates that maintenance should have been done at least 3 hours ago. Learn to communicate with your customers!
They never did. Never. From the start. There is no way in the world that Blizzard could guarantee uptime.
And Blizzard was owned by Vevendi when Wrath was released (November 13, 2008). Vivendi merged Activision and Blizzard (July 10, 2008) before Wrath was released. Your rose-coloured glasses don’t let your see very well.
Do more pushups. Be as swole as a titan grip warrior with Shadowmourne.
I just don’t understand why it took such a wildly long time for someone to say something.
Is transparency really that big of a taboo at Blizz? Are there downsides to having informed customers that I am simply unaware of? Why couldn’t they have just said this six hours ago?
This crap is why I unsubscribed the first time. Give an end time, and stick to it.
