Can I be forced to logout? It’s been over 30 minutes and character still there.
I’m a touch confused, I’m sorry. Are you not wanting to be logged out for some reason? Are you trying to report a character being in one place for the past 30 minutes? Were you involved with whatever the Classic server hiccup was a bit ago and are coming into some error coming up by “A character of that name already exists?”
Again, I’ll apologize for being dense, but some more information would be very helpful for us to be able to help you.
I think he’s talking about a bug where a character disconnecting during a loading screen causes that character to give a “character with that name already exists” error when attempting to reenter the world on them. I had the problem before and it ceased after five minutes. I think the actual error message is caused by attempting to log back onto the character when they were not actually logged out of the game the first time, causing two instances of the character being created, but that is just technical speculation.

That’s what I was leaning towards, but it confused me a bit with them asking if they could be forced to log out. I figured admitting being dense and offering all the options was my best bet.

Same. My WOTLK rogue has been logged into wow for the past 2 hours and won’t log out so that I can play it
Im kinda curious is it character specific or just down completly.
Have you tried exiting the game and launcher, then wait about 15 to 30 minutes before restarting everything?
What normally works for me when this happens is to log into different character on the same account. It usually forces the other to log out.
Eagley, Grobbulus, same issue… server took a crap earlier and a bunch of us are locked out
I’m having the same issue on my horde deathknight on Grobbulus. It’s been 3 hours now and tried the support article steps. However, I reverted my settings because it all started after a server-wide crash that impacted half my guild, and I couldn’t login after it. Will shut my whole system down for the night and hope that fixes it.
This did not work for me. Was playing on another character on the same account for over 2 hours. I have been able to /who my character and see them online. However, the /who does not show them in a guild, and I am unable to see them online in the guild tab. This seems like a new issue, and it needs to be fixed soon!
Probabaly wont be fixed till the morning just to set the expectations mite be longer depending on how easy its to fix.
Just character specific for me. One character, stuck logged in for ~3 hours as of now.
Guys, I would advise you also post a thread up over in the Bug Report forum. Unfortunately, this forum - no staff comes to except for our SFAs. IAnd they have no part in fixing these sorts of issues. just took a peek over there and not a single thread as of the time of me typing this.
Devs do get reports from the other forums (just not this one), but ideally this should be in Bug Reports so the proper staff knows there is an issue.

Honestly, I think it belongs in Bug Reports, because that’s technically what it is? It’s not a technical issue that can be worked through on the player side if this isn’t clearing up after a hard reset of 30 minutes or so. SO. Either or, the proper staff will see it in either of those forums. It’s just I saw people piling in here at CS, where the staff just does not collect data and I want to make sure that you guys were all being heard.
