Refer to last paragraph, it is in bold.
I understand that, they get some gear. And then what? They use the gear to kill the world boss faster? They get to struggle in M+ now because they didnt learn their class properly?
And more of the point, what does them having some gear do to your own personal gameplay? It seems like they skipped to the end of the game and now they get to sit on their hands and say “I did it!” and thats it.
Doesnt seem like p2w to me. Seems like Pay to skip content
Refer to post #15.
Yeah no, that post doesn’t explain anything. Someone else getting gear that they would never be able to trade to you anyway doesnt affect you.
That post just says “it affects us because I feel like it does ”
The 2 shot in pvp has always been an exaggeration and its never by boosted characters that don’t know how to play their class
no matter how many of you people throw this topic out into the open, your faulty logic and tantrums wont convince anyone but yourselves that the game is p2w
This is actually a good point.
They arent paying for instant wins. They are paying for someone else to do the content for them. The same amount of content is getting done.
Arguing the semantics of immorality/corruption is unfruitful.
9.2 just came out, stop replying and leave the forums free for the legitimate players and legitimate playerbase who are making posts and asking questions or having concerns with current in-game material. Thanks.
lmfao “stop commenting cause you’re making too much sense, pls leave the post”
I’m always amazed by labeling a system as P2W that requires players who do not have to buy something from blizzard to be able to get this win.
I feel like with a P2W system is something where by swiping your card you get benefits that no one who does not also pay can achieve, thus no matter how skilled a player would be, the one that puts out cash for the bonus will be able to beat the content easier than the skilled free player. Not where a person is just paying money (maybe) for gold to get into a run of skilled players who are able to beat that content based on their own work.
There’s a lot of arguments each way on purchasing gold that aren’t just about the flawed argument that it is the superior way to level up in this game. But for me, having been in the game before the token, and seeing the mess on other games, I’ll take the token as it was probably intended to be, an alternative to 3rd party gold sellers and the whole web of connected problems that they bring to the game. Not particularly an endorsement of the token, but on the whole, I think it’s probably the most effective way to prevent all the headaches of gold sellers.
So your thread title suggests you don’t want any more P2W arguments, yet your OP essentially starts another one.
What’s up?
No.
WoW is two step pay to win.
By allowing RL cash to buy in game gold.
Step 1: spend RL cash on a WoW token
Step 2: put said token on the AH, when it’s bought for gold, get gold.
Even though people choose to deny this process, it remains a way to gain access to hundreds of thousands of in game gold pieces.
How, you might ask?
By paying for it with said RL cash.
Just because there’s two steps is the part usually left out.
Nope, ya’ll are free to continue debating with my original post regarding the bill S. 1629 in regards to how and why WoW is deceitfully subverting it.
1 sticker for anyone who actually looked up bill S.1629 before commenting . High school English class made you all do at least 1 research paper…right? Great! Then you will know how to research and use critical thinking to formulate an intellectual opinion for strong debates! Happy trails!
Since you guys are unlikely to read it; unless I copy paste /le sigh…
S.1629 — 116th Congress (2019-2020)
Introduced in Senate (05/23/2019)
This bill prohibits the publication or distribution of interactive video games and digital entertainment products that (1) include pay-to-win features and (2) are targeted to minors under the age of 18.
Pay-to-win features include making available for purchase assistance, advantages, or other awards that a reasonable user would perceive provides a competitive advantage in the progression of the game or product over those users who do not make such purchase. Pay-to-play features do not include purchases (1) that alter only the appearance of the game, (2) of game modes that make game-play progression more difficult that without such purchase, or (3) of add-ons that do not assist in the progression of the underlying game or product.
Additionally, game publishers and distributors are prohibited from including pay-to-play features in games and digital entertainment products that are not targeted to minors but where the publisher or distributor reasonably should know that minors use such games or products.
Sweet! Now you all have S. 1629 copy and pasted for you. You can read it, I assume you will revert back to my original post and digest my argument, and formulate your educational response. It is what we call a debate …
it’s not pay to win if other people can get it without spending money.
Pay for Convenience makes it sound better.
Yet the title of your thread contradicts that purpose.
Perhaps an adjustment to that title is warranted, so folks don’t misunderstand.
As far as yet another debate about how best to flog this topic some more… No thanks.
Pay to win includes pay to get past the intended difficulty.
This does in fact include gold from buying a token to buy gear and stuff to get ahead.
The value based pricing is spot on.
We can spend hours in-game or minutes worth of real life earnings to achieve the same in-game goals/achievements.
But you don’t get ahead ? The people that do the boost for you are already ahead.
None of these things ACTUALLY matter at all to how you play the game or what you enjoy.
If your enjoyment of a game is so wrapped up in what OTHER PLAYERS are doing (players that aren’t even playing with you I might add), you have a serious problem on your hands.
People.
This is a video game. It is meant to be fun. Enjoy it.
What other players do or how they achieve their own goals does not matter at all to you, nor should it.
If you like to buy things, buy them.
If you like to earn things, earn them.
Both are valid ways to go about doing it.
What actually matters, for ALL of us players, is whether or not WE are having fun when WE are playing the game the way WE want to.
I don’t care what joe millionaire does when he logs on. I don’t care if he bought a boost or a carry. Why? Because it literally has ZERO impact on me or my enjoyment of the game.
Never look to others to find meaning in something.
It’s hollow.
