You’re correct in that it is an assumption, but I am a unique case in which my girlfriend’s account and I were both banned at the same time for the same listed reason. Additionally she like, never plays, whereas I play a ton.
Recently I installed ConsolePort and hooked it up to a TV to encourage her to play it with me more. I tested the addon on both my account and hers on said laptop. It’s only been… maybe within a month since I’ve used that addon. Also, I’ve never been banned for botting before, and I played throughout the launch of Classic and Shadowlands-- meaning, my addons have been pretty static until recently, when we both tested out ConsolePort.
TLDR, my GF is an amusing control variable in this.
For those that were overturned, I am very happy to hear it.
For those with appeals still in process, it is proof positive that the appeals process does indeed work. Just hold in there until your ticket is answered.
Ah, you never specified you were talking about playing in Classic, and were posting on a retail character. Either way, sounds like if there is an issue with the addon, it’s being looked into.
I use it on retail and classic. They reverted my ban so now I’m just trying to figure out if I can get a new setup that I can use. I’m glad they reverted their decision, and rather quickly I might add, but I had everything working just perfect for me and had spent countless hours dialing it in how I wanted it. Now I’m at square one.
As Vrak alluded to somewhere earlier, given that it seems ConsolePort was causing false positives, I would expect the devs to tweak their cheat detection to prevent that in the future, That would render the use of ConsolePort safe moving forward.
I absolutely understand the hesitancy to jump right back in, though. Maybe give it a day or two, and wait for braver souls to test those waters for you.
I’m not sure if this is entirely related to the topic, but I am pretty sure I encountered a cheater yesterday. I can send a more detailed report to hacks@blizzard.com right?
Yes. The Right-Click report option is a preferred method, as it includes a great deal of character and account-specific information in the report. We understand though, some reports may be a bit nuanced and in that case, emailing the hacks address is a good way to submit a report.
It’s more so wowmapper I’m worried about. I think that is what was causing the flags. But wowmapper works way better than even the blizzard controller support in retail does which is why I was still using it even in retail. I’m playing right now with consoleport but without wowmapper and it feels terrible.
Or, it may turn out that they need to ban it like they banned the use of other software and hardware that multiboxers used because botters could use to expedite their exploiting, and third-party mapping programs may end up being another casualty of the war on bots.
It’s probably best if people on Retail who have the ability to use the native controller support use it instead.
Tickets are answered in the order that they were received. Ticket times are taking a bit longer right now due to everyone flocking to appeal with the ban wave, the TBCC pre-patch last week and all of the normal day to day things. You just need to be patient and wait on your ticket to be responded to.
