Yes, have seen other posts about this being an issue and have removed the addon off my computer.
I have also been banned for 6months for ‘cheating’. I have nothing to add, just wanted to let everyone know that I’m a part of the masses. xD
I was leveling my paladin with my wife who was also leveling her paladin!!! we had just hit 60!!
Hello, I just got a 6 month ban. I’m seeing others indicating that they received the same for using ConsolePort.
Can we get clarification if this is bannable? I didn’t get any details on the “why” of my ban, just that they thought I was using 3rd party software. Consoleport is an addon used to play the game with a gamepad rather than with mouse and keyboard. Something I did a few times for fun just to see if I could.
Blue, Clarification please?
Blizzard will not endorse or condemn 3rd party software. It’s use at your own risk.
Consoleport is literally an addon you can get from Curseforge and other trusted addon sites.
The only ones that could answer this are the developers your better off tweeting them the blues wouldnt be able to confirm or deny it.
Yes, it also used an outside program for mapping keys.
I also just received a 6 month ban and consoleport is the only logical conclusion. I have done zero botting and only have one account.
You are right, i just remembered, in order to make the control sticks work, it used a program called wowmapper. No automation of any kind, but it did make the addon function.
Wonder if that’s it.
same with me just got a bann for using consle port that i have not used for months
This just happned to me I was using WoWMapper, Only because ConsolePort’s Classic Addons said it was required… ive used it lots of times before and never had an issue, so i thought it was safe… I have ever WoW Collector’s Edition on the wow account that got hit, over 9,000 dollars lost cuz i was trying to enjoy my game aver suffering never damage in my right hand… i have the vanilla collector’s eiditon code on ot and have been playing since vanilla was vanilla and not classic… i have every collector’s eiditon key ever made on that account…
im heartbroken…
Blizzard has actively been working with the ConsolePort dev to implement native gamepad functions to the game. It originally rolled out in shadowlands and recently the burning crusade classic as well.
This is one time that statement may be incorrect.
I do hope that if console port (with wowmapper) was the issue for these that perhaps these bans and suspensions could get reversed and rather give people a warning. It appears it was many folks who weren’t even aware that what they were using was a breach of tos - I know, ignorance isn’t necessarily a valid excuse. However, the main reason a lot of people use console port is to be able to use other inputs than your standard keyboard and mouse not for any nefarious reasons, but for adaptability reasons.
I am lucky in that I am still capable of using mouse and keyboard without too much pain, but the day will come were that is no longer a possibility, and I hope that I will never have to stop playing the game I love just because of my rheumatoid arthritis.
I know that for shadowlands it was finally added native controller support, I do not know if this was also added to the classic version of the game.
I am aware that the customer support forums is not a venue for feedback, just posting as it seems to affect quite a few and to perhaps bring some awareness to the reason behind the use of console port. As the adage from AbleGamers, gaming is for everyone.
For anyone hit with a suspension or account closure, please use the appeal option. And I wish you good luck on your appeals! https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/product/battlenet/316/980/solution
UPDATE: My and my girlfriends account closures got overturned.
EDIT#2: It only took 2 hours for them to unban both my girlfriend’s and my account. Thank you Blizz Support, forreal, we were pretty spooked.
Good to hear!
False positives have been known to happen. I can’t state that this is one of them, but that is part of the appeal process. Not only looking into the individual actions that may have been taken but also into all the data coming in. That it is important to appeal using the method already linked.
And that was only done by following the correct path of appeals. Congratulations to both of you.
Awesome! When did you appeal?
Given Blizzard doesn’t actually need a reason to ban you under the EULA…you don’t have these legal rights you speak of.
WoW is a service provided by Blizzard. The contract you entered into to access this service requires you to agree they can close an account for any or no reason. End of the legal argument.
