This really has to happen. It is so depressing to see areas even in BfA where there is no one around. Its hard to do any of the PVP quests because sometimes there is literally zero horde is Nazjatar.
Blizz, please, merge our servers. Allow the guilds to get more players in to raid. Allow the players to be able to do everything the game is designed for. We need help down here.
Totaly agree trying to get anything done is almost impossable besides the issue with no people the AH is dead the prices are ridiculas no one is buying anything.
I Have been considering ANOTHER realm transfer, i started on Aman’thul 5 years ago and transfered out when my guild died, I came back for some friends that returned to the game, but it isn’t worth hanging around if i cant reach my goals of getting the AH mount. Maybe thats what Blizzard wants, People to spend even more money transferring.
I have heard a few people mention that Blizzard is trying to extort transfer dollars out of us. I have to believe they have a better customer service model than that. Admittedly, this realm merge is a good test of their customer service. I would defy them to find any serious player on Aman’Thul that would disagree with the merger - pretty clear direction from the customer base.
The most frustrating part is the not knowing. Being in limbo for years is terrible. They could and should simply let us know. If a merge was planned, we could decide what whether to wait for it or not. If it’s not planned, we could all just exodus. It’s pretty unkind to just leave us hanging like this with several important parts of the game crippled for us.
For the record, I would love a merger. Getting people that are capable of and want to raid Mythic content is hard. I’ve been recruiting for weeks and only managed to get 2 people recently and 1 is an alt that I don’t foresee staying when a new raid comes out. The other was a transfer from Horde because it’s dead over there.
However I don’t think it will happen. Aman’thul (somehow) isn’t a low pop server. We’re medium (and yet we don’t have any 8/8M guilds, only 7 guilds have done anything in Mythic and only 1 of them is Horde with 1/8M progress… Food for thought)
Folks, please try and share this around your friends and guilds. The more attention we can get on this, the better. I’m not actually hopeful of a merge, but what we absolutely need is some acknowledgement from Blizz so we know what we are going to do.
Hey,
Bread from the now defunct, Resilient,
Yes - Aman’thul does need a merger, or some sort of boost to its population but I don’t see it happening successfully,
Especially at the top end, a lot of guilds either left their servers and went to Frostmourne, as its much easier to recruit with the larger player base or swap guilds.
Potentially Blizzard could merge us with the other lower servers on OCE but the issue is that I don’t think it’ll add enough players that want to do X content (i.e. Mythic progression) to make it relevant/efficient for us.
Just my 2 cents,
Good luck/Have fun!
Bread
While a merge might not bring us anywhere near Frostmourne, or even make us viable in terms of Hall of Fame progression, it would at least give us reasons to stay. Double or triple the player pool, by merging with other low-pop Oceanic realms, should give a few guilds significantly better numbers and a better chance.
Most of us aren’t looking to be a big server or Hall of Fame contenders, but we would at least like to be viable, or hear from Blizzard either way.
I think this is a great idea. Definitely would love to see a merger. I hate that Frostmourne is becoming the only viable server for raid and keystone progress. I refuse to transfer to Frostmourne (would rather quit the game honestly and I have poured so much time, money and effort into this game over my 12years of playing) so please please please blizz do something to fix this!
Simple things like Najatar commanders/monstrosities, mechagon rec rigs, bee events and many other world events/quests are becoming near on impossible. I spend at least 2 hours a day waiting for people to join my LFG group just to gain help with these types of things. It is getting very irritating, since I don’t have a lot of time to play to begin with.
I’ve been on AT since vanilla and it makes me sad to see how quiet it is now. Xrealm is keeping the illusion of population but we’ve been actively recruiting for the last 12 months and have managed to get 3 new people into raid. Three!
That didn’t offset the six we lost going into BfA, or the decline of interest in m+. A merge would be great for opening up the opportunity list again.
The reason it is not “low” population is because of how they classify population. For some reason they do not go off server capacity, but go off the population of all the other servers off the area. If all Oceanic servers are low populated, blizz will show them as “medium” which is a massive cop-out and detrimental to everyone
We see all the same groups in the group finder and we still get phased with all the other servers in the open world so a server merge won’t do anything for any of that. OCE is heavy on alliance so even on Frostmourne you’ll rarely run into some horde groups from Barthilas and that’s about it. The auction house is slower but there’s no problem with it for commonly traded items like crafting mats and raid consumables. Anybody serious about collecting rare battle pets and transmogs already has gold on Frostmourne.
So the only real problem with being on a low pop server is raiding.
We have 22 guilds at 8/8H. Any guild that can do 8/8H can do 3/8 Mythic ezpz but these guilds just don’t have the numbers to field a 20 person raid group. The release of Classic crippled the numbers of these guilds even further. The active player base who want to do raiding content is just too low for the amount of guilds. Don’t wait for Blizzard, they’re not going to do anything. Guild leaders need to consider merging or disbanding if they want to see progression in 8.3.
Fair points @Metavex, but as far as I am aware there are only two guilds running at GMT+8 on our server. I know there have to be more doing that. As for the m+ and PvP, sure this isn’t a great solution. But in order to improve our guild raiding prospects instead of just hemorrhaging players and guilds, a merge seems worth a shot.
And, again, we at least deserve to know what our chances are so we can make informed decisions.
