Allied races for Worgen and undead: Nelf Worgen and San'layn

Bullcrap!!! You were saying on a other thread that the alliance should get high elf… So genuinely new and different.

You also said in this thread that it would be unfair that the horde get a new pretty elf why the alliance counterpart would be a monster. Meanwhile you were saying on the other thread that the alliance should get high elf while the horde counterpart would be wretched and nightfallen…

You dont fool anyone. The real reason you dont like what the op is proposing is you dont want the horde to get a new thalassian elf while the alliance dont.

You also dont want a new elf race in the alliance that is not high elf because the game already have a lot of elf and every new elf added is reducing the chance of the alliance getting high elf…

Now stop contradict youself and go on a high elf thread instead.

I’m largely dispassionate about High Elves and content with the elves we have. I just don’t like the hypocrisy tied to the opposition against them but if plenty of people want them and San’layn then I don’t see anything wrong with both people getting what they want.

That depends on what you think San’layn are, but as I told you the third time, they are a pretty and seductive gothic elf race not all that different from Void Elves. I only think they should be a counterpart to Nightbane or Night Elf Worgen if they’re a genuine monster race like their counterpart would be, but if they’re paired with High Elves then they should be a pretty race.

Between those two alternatives, the latter is what the vast majority of your party wants and it would indeed be unfair to give that to Horde and not give an equally attractive race to Alliance, considering the population imbalance at max level between the factions. My stance is as simple as that.

And the real reason you support what the OP is proposing is because you get what you want out of the deal and largely don’t care what the other side gets as long it’s not something they want.

And honestly, you could flip that sentence around and it would actually apply pretty significantly to you. You don’t like what people want unless you get something you want as well, so this argument doesn’t really work and just highlights that you’re trying to find something to pin me down on without really thinking about what you’re saying.

Bringing this up for another go around. Anyone else for these two as allied races?

Yup! Add them both please =D

I am all for Night Elf Worgen (Helps the Night Elves depleted numbers funnily enough.).
Better get some crazy customization like Deer Antlers though, I’d like them to be at least somewhat different.

I am rather indifferent to the San’layn, I’d have to see what class choices and the like they’d get.

Check out the megathread, there’s some pretty good stuff there on the San’layn.

This seems pretty fair, both are dark and epic looking! You have my vote.

issue here is the writers would need to pull this off not having more ardent skyrim lore fans going cool…can we just call the night elves Bosmer now?

In skyrim wood elf lore (what the NE and Bosmer are…to not owe the Tolkien estate money probably lol) has lycanthropy covered already.

Not saying they can’t use it. they need to pull this off without having people like me going could you at least make this original please. I don’t have high hopes for that really. Like the night warrior make over.

Looks nice (imo)…and many said cool we have dark elves in WoW now.

Could call them Alpha worgen, Night worgen, Primal worgen, Eldrid worgen, Childrenn of Goldrinn. You can take a pick out of any of these names really. They were elves once, but not really anymore.

These worgen don’t really need the mention of their prior form. I just say night elf worgen because…well…they were night elves before becoming worgen. There’s a bunch of terms and names you could give them that would be original, just not sure what type of name Blizz would go with. What they had once been no longer really applies to them since they’d be their own thing at this point. Much like the other allied races. No need for worry on the part of night elves losing their namesake.

Still a no for me dog. (Dumb jokes are dumb but I won’t stop making them).

Night elf worgen are just Worgen that could turn into night elves. Unless they pulled out something CRAZY to make them more distinct from regular Worgen, which would be a very odd choice IMO since we’ve seen Night Elf Worgen already, and would be a weird retcon for Blizz to do just to add Night Elf Worgen. As a customization option, I’d love it though.

Got no complaints about San’layn. Would make sense given Sylvanas is turning into a Lich King 3.0

Oh wow!

Thank you for bringing my old post back into the mix!

I had actually redid that thread and made an “unofficial” night elf worgen discussion thread here with the new forums and such if you want to check that out. I have updated it and added a few more details to it that many skim over:

Alliance seem to be suckers for punishment now days. First you get another Draenei, then another purple elf, then another human, and now you are asking for another elf that shares one of the humans traits? You do know the night elf worgen look the exact same as the human ones right?

Oh well by all means have at it and we all know blizz is gonna throw robot gnomes your way too might as well waste another allied race slot :joy:

Oh yes, the Alliance seems to be getting the short stick with the Horde having brown orcs, tauren with bigger antlers, and elves having an even darker shade of purple. Though, I find it funny that you don’t consider any of these to be a waste of an allied race slot.

Worgen form is not a human trait. It was originally a curse that turns those are infected with it into feral beasts. Worgen became a proper race when the ritual to restore their minds made them a legitimate people. They have two forms, but two forms only represents part of the soul they reclaimed. The current worgen we play are no longer human, it’s just a form representive of their civilized side. That being said, nelf worgen are actually pretty practical, given the allied races we have now, and how they could expand on the current worgen and their lore.

Actually our allied races thus far are great minus highmountain I’ll give ya that one. The customization of mag orcs is better than any race in the game. Gives ya access to all orc clans whichever you wanna rp you are part of. Nightborne are night elves horde side. That is a great slot for us as we didn’t have that prior. Zandalari trolls are another long asked for race with great rich lore around them. Very nice racials as well. So yeah I think we won out big time on the allied races.

I was trying to be sympathetic and with you guys on your crappy races not make fun.

Night elf Worgen =/= San-layn not even close, hell I would faction change in a sec to play vampire elves. remember worgen vrs Blood elves? this would be a horrible imbalance. I am already dreading alliance getting junker gnomes vrs horde possibly getting a much cooler and vastly more popular vulpera.

Give them Night Elf Hair color for fur (Purple, etc.), give them Druidic features not unlike Malfurion as they are all Druids Like Deer horns and the like.
Plenty you can do, there is more than enough Leeway to make them unique.

Could even have a culture or aesthetic that’s different as a result of their isolation.

I want gnome worgen!
Let those puppies run!

Your sympathy sounds like your mocking us. If this is case, you can keep it, doesn’t mean much if you don’t actually mean it. It sounds like you made fun either way.

You didn’t though. The aesthetics, cosmetics, and some of the racials were better than those of the Alliance, this much is true. Otherwise, as allied races, they’re all the same. Night worgen could be different in this aspect. If they are considered for the roster, it’s possible they could come out better then you or I could have imagined. Either way, I’d be happy to play one, and so would others. As far as I’m concerned, this is the bottom line. It’s a matter of getting to play as what we want.

Again not mocking you quit being so defensive man. If you want more worgen be my guest I just assumed you and the alliance as a whole would like something new instead of something that when in combat will look exactly the same as what you are playing right now

These are allied races we’re talking about. None of them are really new races, just more of the same races we’ve been playing. Allied races are more of an offshoot of their core counterparts, but still share similarities and traits with their kin. There’s only slight differences in how they play and look. I can’t consider your point a valid reason to shoot down night worgen because the same case could be made for all the other allied races.

At this point, if we were really going to get something new in terms of races, it would have to be a new core race. One with their own look and design. One with different animations and riggings. Something you know definitely sets them apart from the races we know and play. They’d have be original in their design to be considered a new race. Allied races are simply new options to consider for the current ones we have.
