Hi all, I logged in the other day to find my account banned. I know an email was sent to the one linked to the account but it was inactive so I never received why I was banned for. I put in a ticket and it pointed to the TOS but nothing specific. I got the email going then asked for the original email to be sent so I know what precisely I’m being banned for. Only response was saying the ban was being upheld. I did not do any rmt, said inappropriate language, bots, etc. I don’t think I was hacked because my mains armory looks intact. I do have some 80’d on WOTLK classic but I have no idea if anyone got on there or not. Any thoughts?
Your only option is to appeal via tickets.
Just to be clear, their reply said:
???
Those are different things and they wouldn’t put an “etc.” in there either.
I’d recommend reopening your appeal and asking for the reason for the suspension/ban.
Have you done any GDKP runs in the recent past? Even months ago? That could explain things as bliz is doing a crack down on people getting stolen gold. Yes best not to do these type of runs as you have a high possibility of getting stolen gold.
Other wise you need to appeal
By chance, are you the friend of this poster that was being referenced? I only ask because it’s lining up.
For the record, I got the friend mentioned here…
… to post, with the hope that someone from Blizzard can look into it. Or at least getting that email resent.
“Thank you for reaching out to us regarding a recent account action. After further review, it is determined that the action taken against the World of Warcraft account to be accurate, with clear and true violations of our Terms of Service found.” That was the most specific information received regarding the reasoning for the ban. Just general Terms of Service violation referenced.
He already got this reply: “This penalty has already been upheld. Any further requests on this topic will not be reviewed.”
He has not. The only thought that comes to mind is that he was hacked and said hacker did something associated with those GDKP, but for the life of us, we couldn’t venture a guess as to what that could be. Neither of us are well-versed enough in the practice to know how a hacked account would be useful.
He is. And he’s very averse to public forums, so it took some effort to eke this thread out of him. But now with an account that applies to the issue present, I hope he can get a response.
I have seen Vrak around posting, so here is hoping!
Welcome to the forums! I’m glad you were able to get on here and hopefully you’ll at least get the reason behind your sanction.
If he was compromised, the characters and their banks and bags would usually be stripped clean very quickly and all gold mailed/traded off . Also, they’d immediately change password to keep the legitimate account holder out for as long as possible.
So it would be very doubtful that they were hacked.
That was our general assumption, as well. Just honestly stumped as to the trigger.
To the OP, if you were able to get into your original email associated with the account, double check spam folders for the original email. Sometimes they get shuffled to those folders. If it’s not there, please send in another request with your appeal to have the original email sent.
The email address associated with the account was so old that it was inactive when the ban email was sent.
The he should do one of 2 things. Either get access to that email or create a new email and apply it to the account in the account settings and then notify Blizzard of the new email address in his appeal. He could ask that they resend the original email to the new address.
He did. Overtly stated that this was not a continuation of the appeal. Still got the “This penalty has already been upheld. Any further requests on this topic will not be reviewed.”-type reply.
Based on your friend’s post, it does sound like they were given some sort of reason why their account was actioned, though their post wasn’t really clear.
That said, your friend’s ONLY option is to appeal via tickets. There’s no other way for them to appeal the account action despite what it may have been for (which is between them and Blizzard really).
I’m sure they were. But it wasn’t received, due to the inactive account.
I’ll let Vrak reply here, but your friend alluded to being given a reason after getting access to the account. At least, that’s how I read it, but it wasn’t too clear, unfortunately.
I can see that you have put in several appeals and haven’t got back much information. Sorry about that, Adrenalgland. It does look like this was sent up for review, though I don’t see where the rep mentioned that they did so. >.<
I’ll pass on a note to let them know that they missed it.
It may take a few days before there is word back from the review but our staff should reach out once they do.
First if he was hacked that would have been seen when he appealed, They would see that and yes they tend to ban hacked accounts. They wait for the account owner to appeal and say the account was hacked. This way in between the account is not available to the hackers.
Second no hacker is going to compromise a account and use it on a GDKP run! If they hack your account they do not run dungeons, Raids or Battlegrounds on your account. They do very nasty things, Like advertise! They will bot to get gold and other not so nice things and they tend to leave your account stripped.
Many thanks, from both of us.
Did open a account hacked if they can confirm the comprimise the ban usualy gets lifted.
