Account banned for abuse of economy

Don’t get caught up in the whole innocent thing though. Why?

Hang around here long enough and you’ll see the patterns - the same telltale ‘coached’ posts protesting their innocence. Doing what they can to put pressure on Blizzard by way of sympathy.

We’ve seen this when botting players get caught, the bot sites even post information on what to say if caught etc.

More like we understand that Blizzard permanently banning someone is not something taken lightly. It is an absolute last resort.

So while mistakes can absolutely happen (which is why there is an appeals process), they are few and far between. When everyone insists they did nothing wrong, most of them are lying.

You know what? I feel confident that zero people here would disagree with this.

The problem is, how do you know which is which? You don’t. You can only know what you do in this game, and occasionally, even that isn’t 100% as some players run afoul of the rules without fully understanding why, unfortunately.

Someone just saying “I’m totally innocent” does not mean they are. That’s for Blizzard to decide.

The other issue is dirty gold is laundered/cleansed through the intentional use of unsuspecting players.

The amount of people in the WoWMarket discord who advertise EU<->NA gold swaps but also sit in gold rmt and botting discords is way too high. Moral of the story is avoid the “im totally legit this reputation discord bot said so” social engineering.

People really should be assuming by default the gold swap traders are bad gold, no matter how much they say otherwise.

Glad you got your account back!
If they didn’t already give it to you, make sure you put in a ticket to ask about getting the days you missed compensated back onto your account.

Just want to update everyone that Blizzard unbanned two of my licenses as of an hour ago. I didn’t even put in a ticket as I was still going over all the information. Although I am extremely grateful for this ex parte action on Blizzard’s part, going forward I am equally terrified of using the Auction House or interacting with other players. I will never know what exactly triggered my “permanent” ban. Was it erroneous mass reports or some automatic flag? I just want to know how to avoid this in the future.

just forgive and forget it. people need to change.

Nothing to be overly concerned about Stewardfeath.

That is why we have an appeal process. It’s not fast, and it’s not always pretty, but it is usually effective.

We ban, quite literally, 10s of thousands of exploitive accounts every month. Sometimes innocent parties can get caught in a sweep. We do everything in our power to keep that from happening, but no process is 100% perfect. I will never say a false positive never happens, but they are exceedingly rare.

The good news, if a false positive does happen, it’s something we can rectify across the board as well.

I hate to ask this but my subscription is still slated to end at the same time that it had before the banned. Are we able to be compensated for the lost time that we had paid for?

You’d need to put in a ticket for the GMs to reimburse for the time lost.

makes you wonder how many false positives dont get overturned, 1 is too many.

lol welcome to the ban club, guess Blizzard is going ham with ban hammer today.

My reasons for ban are different as I was traded gold from a guildie to make stuff for upcoming raids and I got suspended. Hope CS can further look into the logs and get stuff sorted out, but the auto reply first email you get could be annoying. Maybe try appealing further to get CS to escalate it to be looked into further.

The bans in this thread are from several days ago. It takes a bit of time for the process to get sorted if there are false positives.

In your case your account directly got illicit gold from a now permanently banned level 1 on a shady account. I think you got a Suspension right? Not a perma ban which is what the folks in this thread had.
