Hasnt this been going on for hours?
Youâre paying absolutely 0 attention if you think the blue post is the only information we have on whatâs going on.
Both Modern and Classic.
I think there was an attempt on Overwatch too, donât know how that turned out.
Exactly, the more that people talk about it and fan the flames, the bigger the fire is going to get and never die down. There are also a lot more people who arenât reading the forums, so even if the ones that are reading, toss dirt onto the fire, there are still going to be more people fanning the flames and keeping it going.
It sucks, but I suggest that everybody just leaves WoW, grab a family member and go out to eat somewhere.
This is lame! I only get to play so often and some idiot chooses today to cause issues!
Ah, how Iâve missed this!
LOL FYI, Im watching people praise Blizzard for not responding, yet at the same time watching blizzard delete posts critical of them. How interesting. Get back to work, less auditing, more working!
Reading through all the responses, I felt the need to say this.
I am sorry that WOW got attacked again. But I do appreciate the effort that they put into trying to get the servers and game accessible again.
When I first tried signing on today, all I got were 4 servers for arena, or something like that. I thought ****** what the **** is going on with my computer now? I tried rebooting and pulling it up again, I got no servers. So here I am. I find relief that it isnât on my end.
Am I happy that the servers are/were down? Of course not. But I do appreciate the effort that the team puts into to try to keep the downtimes to a minimum. So in spite of those who are complaining about the situation, I am saying thank you for doing your best, and I will try to have patience when this happens.
Auditing this forum is part of my work, Ivoh.
Please donât make me exercise more of my responsibilities.
You would think they would of had a plan for this exact situation right? Iâd assume a multibillion dollar company has ties with authorities in regards to matters like this when it has happened multiple times in the past.
Hacking wow is so yesterday, want to really impress go hack the fbi. I double dare youâŠ
tell em orlyla you guys are great cant wait to see the millions of dollars and jail time put on these people/person
Thatâs not how infosec works. There are a lot of proactive things that can be done to prevent DDoS, data theft, etc on Blizzardâs end, but all it takes is one, just one, vulnerability or bug in an upstream or internal tool/lib that blizzard uses to give script kiddies a way to DDoS.
Fighting this kind of stuff is a constant battle and no amount of money will ever beat sheer human ingenuity. Many times the very things that allow us, the players, to access the game are how attackers exploit it.
Reminder that a DDoS attack is not a security breach.
Servers arenât exploding, data isnât compromised. Someone isnât about to walk away with all of your credit card information. It seems like the only reason servers went down at all was to migrate them to new addresses - which didnât work.
This is the digital equivalent of thousands (hundreds of thousands? millions?) of people knocking on your front door at the exact same time for the sake of knocking on your door for hours. It also requires about as much knowledge to pull off.
DDoS protection only goes so far. Thereâs only so much you can do to filter out the tons of people knocking that are just there to knock, versus letting the people who actually want in to get through.
Orlyia is my hero! LOL
better than being an aly
I am deff loving the support being very blunt. I always enjoy a good slaughter!
People acting like theyâre owed stuff and they can treat the support staff like dirt because they donât wanna give exposure to the whackjob carrying out the attacks.
I do miss my bold move cotton gif already though OrlyiaâŠ
It was too soon!
WOW has been the most popular game on twitch the past week or two. It makes sense that these noobs go after Big Boss Blizzard. Everyone just relax, Im sure things will be up and running soon.
