7 Months from Community Council...Did it miss the mark?

How do we make suggestions to the Community Council ?

A lot of us don’t want the colored text, fyi lol. I’m a regular forum poster, and shockingly, the amount of singling out and insults that gets thrown at me daily over the colored text is ridiculous. I assume they are just trying to vent their anger at Blizzard on what they consider the next closest thing, but it’s silly, it’s like yelling at a barista for a starbucks corporate policy lol.

I have over 10,000 posts on the new forums and even more on the old forums. I would hope people would understand I have posted on these forums for years. X_X And I’m not just posting cause I was chosen lol.

Lmao, it was on the discord that I left. Called me a melee survival apologist, if I recall. Like, excuse you.

You can link one of the person’s post in a GD thread, and they’ll be tagged. Just don’t abuse it or you can get in trouble lol.

I’ve posted thoughts others have asked me to, because I agreed with them - but I also won’t post thoughts I don’t agree with, as I feel like you should only post things you believe in. Otherwise you can’t back it up if someone asks you why, etc.

Also, make sure if you have a thought for someone to post, you ask the right person - like, asking me to post about Classic, Mythic Raids, M+, etc. wouldn’t be a good fit lol. But if it’s battle pet related, outdoor, etc. then yea, cause that’s my area of the game.

Also, only explained it cause mentioning the name would be considered a call out lol. And I’m not in the discord to link it anymore - the admin annoyed me.

I also do not have a way to DM you lol.

The funny thing is, I do have a reddit account, but I very VERY rarely post in the WoW reddit. I use Reddit mainly for… other reasons.

Love all the back talk about the community council when they are the ones who also helped shape 9.1.5 and 9.2 and 9.2.5. But sure name call them and lambast them because they are not your “certain” type of follower or person.

That’s true, I’d like to see the results of this idea but Blizzard seems to ignore it or at least that’s my view of the missing live chats and response. There’s really good topics, like the 2 that I mentioned on about a roadmap for WoW and the field view changes, I think that Devs don’t interact enough maybe bc of 10.0 schedule but I think that the communication is Key for WoW nowdays.

Maizou consistently posts misinformation and revisionism about Hunters. That alone makes her a negative influence in my view.

I’m “brave enough” to do it here. She immediately blocks people who confront her.

The reason those people don’t post here is because, to be frank, no one takes her, the CC, or really the forums in general seriously. Mainly due to the near total lack of communication as mentioned in the OP and the sheer volume of uninformed bad takes.

P.S. Example of Maizou misinformation - all her posts in this thread:

My favourite part is when she claimed a guide linked in the thread was saying the literal exact opposite of what it actually said.

Not really. Community Council didn’t even exist yet by the time 9.1.5 released (November 2021)

Not really any major influence on 9.2 either. As for 9.2.5, we don’t know yet

A lot of players also use the PTR section, I usually post there because GD isn’t a good forum section for feedback. There’s some good post and some achievements from CC forums but at least for me, it feels like another ignored opportunity, since Devs mentioned on the video Livechats, there’s big concerns about the game overall and not an expansion specific that could be address, however there’s a lack of Blizzard response, that’s my opinion, there’s a lot of good post on that forum section and maybe even Devs take those notes but don’t reply.

Incorrect. CC was never going to be more than a dog and pony show.

Feels like it missed the mark.

But we don’t know how Blizzard uses what little information they gather from the CC forum.

If they didn’t care for feedback then why are they acting on feedback so quick and quicker then before.

No offense man but, you been living under a rock? :joy:

Let’s see…

  • they apparently “fell behind” on development due to external/non-game related factors like Covid
  • lackluster expansion with meh storyline/characters/setting
  • extended content drought noticed by players (and not in a good way)
  • mass unsubs since around 9.1 or so (caused by the extended content drought)
  • patch 9.1 also lackluster, even more unsubs as folks got bored
  • “rising” competitors like Final Fantasy actively stealing WoW players away
  • …even “big” WoW streamers like Asmongold losing interest in the game/playing other games
  • huge scandal with the sexual harrassment/lawsuit stuff
  • …just bad PR in general for the whole of 2021

Hmmmm, I wonder why devs are “suddenly” more open to listening to/implementing player feedback in 2022, hmmmmmmmm

It’s obvious they’re not listening to player feedback out of the kindness of their heart or anything like that, seems more like they felt “pressured” into it for some of the reasons outlined above. They basically “had a fire lit under them” in 2021 once the large sub losses became noticeable - that would be my guess as to why they suddenly cooked up this “Community Council” idea and are more open to player feedback now

Exactly, also not all the changes during those patches were result of CC forums, they also responded to PTR section and GD, even talked about x-45-heartbreaker during love is in the air, I’d like to see that kind of response more around topics that are not related to a new patch or expansion but the overall health of the game or even for the next content more communication using livechats as promise in the CC video, a roadmap with the path like OW2 did.

So what you are saying these are all an “act” and accusing them of they don’t care about feedback. When they themselves said beginning in 9.1.5 they are changing their ways on how they operate and run World of Warcraft and be less stubborn on acting on feedback.

Certainly seems that way

I’m sure the actual CC posters themselves genuinely care about the issues/topics that interest them. The devs? They probably just doing it for the PR as others have also pointed out

Yeah sure I’ll believe it when I see it when dragonflight and not just dragonflight they have been listening to feedback about the current raid being unbeatable and they have acted and nerf the raid multiple times. So tell me again how is it all an act?

Get rid of it.

That stuff is a complete joke. It’s only for people who are too polite and never had a forum infraction but in reality they know zero about the game.

When I see that text I just roll my eyes.

Ooof, kinda harsh there… not mincing any words lol

Overall I would like to see more done with the CC. It doesn’t seem overly successful but thats not necessarily CC members faults. I think the CC needs to have more active members in addition to having more Blizzard responses/transparency of what is going on.

At least for me, WoWhead does more in providing useful information week to week, I would like to see the same usefulness in the CC forums from Blizzard (and maybe more discussion overall). Like where are the back and forths between Blizzard and CC members about Tier Sets, PvP burst, Conduits, etc? There are some don’t get me wrong, I just wish there were more for a CC.

Aside from Blizzard interactions I do think who gets picked for the CC needs to be addressed. I know the CC is supposed to represent all players but it seems to just want representatives and not effective ones. There are maybe 10-20% of the members I could recognize and the others I don’t think I see more than once, part of that might be because I don’t engage in that content but idk I would like to think all CC members might participate in the GD forums at least from time to time.

I do think the CC has helped out on some issues, but I just overall want to see more. Even when the CC is rotated I don’t want to see all of the members gone, I want to see the inactive members gone. I want to see Blizzard interact and react more to discussions. I want more potential polling on the forums, twitter, etc. to gauge feedback.

I remember when there was a Discord being created for people to interact with a CC member during its inception but was quickly shutdown and not really sanctioned in the first place. I want to see that, there is no point to a CC if one of C’s only includes 100 people, there *needs to be more interaction and I feel as if unless Blizzard steps up to facilitate it there will be little done.

Sorry if a bit rambley but I do want to see the CC succeed more and for Blizzard to use it as a better tool.
