7 day suspension for pvp violation

So i just got hit with a 7 day pvp violation just before WOTLK prepatch.

All i did was play the previous AV weekend cap and hold Stone hearth… i have appealed but still heard nothing.

very frustrated…

All you can do is wait on the appeal process.

Important to note though, that often the reason for the violation could have happened weeks ago.

Also, if you were just defending (ie, sitting idle waiting for something to happen), that is very much reportable as a violation (non-participation).

It sounds like you teammates didn’t appreciate you hanging out in one spot. It’s considered non-participation to just “defend” a point on the map that isn’t being challenged.

BGs are a team sport, if you aren’t going to play as part of the team, you risk getting a ban like this. Keep in mind, if you don’t change your play style, you’ll likely keep getting increasingly long bans for this.

Same happened to me.

It is insane that you get banned for defending something and if no one is coming you get suspended for it. In 12 years this never happened to me… it is insane.

On my ticket they said that the system decided it not player reports.

And how do you know if it gets challenged without someone calling incs or the base gets tabbed? It’s just nonsense
Y can’t people accept that sometimes blizzard is wrong.

And like I said in my ticket respond they said it’s a system thing not a player report

Too many players try to hang out in BGs and leach honor. Your ‘defending’ a point that no one is attacking does nothing to help win the BG.

If you see them on the way, you call it out and head there.

Hanging out and defending different points is fine if your team is on board with it. If they are not, and you choose to do so anyway, you can get hit with non-participation.

Pretty sure they didn’t say that, you’ve just interpreted it that way.

No ban is automated, all are applied by a person and you were looked at for this based on players reporting you for non-participation over multiple BGs.

I don’t start arguing with someone who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

He answered after I thought it’s player reports: “ it’s not only player reports” so there has to be a system behind it cuz player reports are troll if people get mad.

Bro I played the game I even called 100times incs and more and I also ran around ninjatab other bases.

Just nonsense, sometimes blizz is wrong!

Sometimes. That’s what the appeals process is for. If you’ve appealed, a fresh set of eyes has looked into it. They either uphold it or, if a mistake was made, reverse the penalty. You can continue to appeal until they tell you no more. Each time you do, another fresh pair of eyes looks into it.

You don’t get banned just on player reports. The reports start the investigation and the then GM either says you did nothing wrong or applies a penalty to your account. There is no other ‘system’ involved.

If you were genuinely participating, beyond defending a point that no one is attacking, the logs will reflect that and you either won’t get banned in the first place, or it will be overturned on appeal.

For BGs, just calling out INCs elsewhere doesn’t constitute participation if your team is trying to get to do something else. BGs are a team activity, you can’t just play ‘your’ way, you have to be part of the team.

Did you appeal and have it overturned/upheld? Cause they do make mistakes, but they generally get overturned pretty quick on appeal.

yeah i appealed 7 hrs ago also still no reply so i assume u are still suspended? like i understand a day suspension or like 12 hrs but 7 days come on

It’s meant to be a little harsh, to sting a little. It helps reinforce the idea that you need to not do that anymore.

And that is fair enough if the person is actually leaching xp… i wasn’t i was just defending

If nobody is attacking, you’re not defending, you’re just sitting there. And just sitting there is kinda the exact definition of leaching XP/honor.

And to a lot of us that play; defending a point that isn’t being attacked isn’t defending, it’s being leach there to steal honor under the guise of ‘participating’

If your BG group plans things out and wants you defend a capped point, great, go for it. Otherwise, you should actually participate.

Sadly yes, still suspended.

I guess none of those “ if no one is coming you are not defending” played rbg or know rogues and Druids - you don’t see them coming until they tabed a base if no one is “leaching” there

Insane

I will also add that it means absolutely nothing that pre-patch starts this week. If I recall correctly, they’ve done some pretty hefty ban waves prior to other big patches/expansion releases. It drives home the lesson that any sort of sanctionable offenses will not be tolerated. You get a seven-day vacation, which sucks on the general, but you’re also missing out of a particularly crucial week of events.
