With hotfixes that began rolling out a couple of hours ago and are now applicable in all instances, we’ve preliminarily addressed a bug in 12.0.5 where rolling on loot did not remove the received item from the pool for subsequent Bonus Rolls, which made it possible for players to receive the same item from a Bonus Roll.
It is now safe to roll on loot. Newly rolled items will now correctly remove the item from the bonus pool.
We’ll have more information to share tomorrow about this issue and the next steps we’re taking to remediate the situation for affected players.
Thank you very much for your feedback and understanding.
So if I used one of my void cores in M+, but didn’t use my second because I heard about the bug, is that item I got retroactively removed from the loot pool or will I have a chance of getting that item again if I go to that same dungeon and use another core?
So I used both my rolls, got duplicate items, and now I could potentially get it a 3rd time? And that is IF you ever decide to give me and the others who were affected another roll? Sounds like a sweet deal.
What’s wild is that there’s 2 fundamental parts to this system, and this system is what (pretty much most) people were excited for.
Part 1: Check what loot drops off of a boss/dungeon for a person’s character and difficulty, cross check against DB of awarded loot, random roll, award it.
Part 2: Mark it awarded in a DB.
There is nothing complicated about this. The fact that this was a bug in the first place is impressive. It’s clear nobody tested it, not even the developer who worked on it. At what point are we allowed to ask if Claude is coding these things or if people still work on the game?
QA doesn’t catch every single bug, never has. And sometimes even a known bug that was fixed gets triggered by something else that was completely unexpected.
Blizzard stopped communicating long long ago until they had a definite answer because every single word was taken as absolute truth and needed to be immediate. They did, however, acknowledge the bug in the Support section. A link to known issues is in the first stickied post in the CS forum.
I’m hoping that those of us who saw it being bugged and opted not to risk using ours aren’t punished by receiving less items than those who used theirs.
I’m sorry to those affected, but the solutions that would make you happy are ones that would cause a significant uneven playing field.
I hope there’s a reasonable middle ground somewhere.
They havent caught a single one in Midnight as far as I can tell. If they have, the game is in a even worse state than we all think, because that means there is a DELUGE of bugs being driven out.
I could have sworn we were told that the CS forum is not for that type of problem. How come we have to go to that part of the forums to see something that should have been commented here in GD like this thread was? All I am asking for is Kaivaix up there to pop in and go “Yea they know”.
lol what? if we used both rolls and got duplicate items, we can’t use the other one. you’re joking right? that is the dumbest thing I’ve read tonight. congrats buddy.
You’re looking for support though? Posting there about bugs is not the right place, but starting there for information about a problem is a good practice.
