1.12 AV is a huge, huge mistake

How can you even be sure that day long AV battles would be a thing with the original version? Are you as sure as the people that thought Classic dungeons would have to be taken slow and carefully?

You can’t. But they are more likely with the earlier versions.

By the way, the fact that Beta testers are finding the NPCs easier than we remember will likely apply to AV as well. They should bring back the harder mobs.

Agreed but people talk as if this is a certainty. That AV can’t be zerged in an earlier version because “reasons.”

Either way - the earlier versions had more of an epic feel.

I support giving us the ORIGINAL CLASSIC AV ;3 Hopefully Blizzard is paying attention to this matter and the skeletons despawning and correct them to perform how they did in Vanilla.

NPCs got nerfed. Made zerging possible.

Dungeons and Raids take hours as well. This isn’t BFA were significant progress can be done in 15 minutes or less daily. This is supposed to be about preserving a piece of gaming history. Nothing like AV 1.5-1.8 exists in any other game.

lol

If hour-long battlegrounds sound like flaming hot bs then I don’t think classic is the game for you.

Eruanna not related to AV 1.12, but as someone who actually pvp’d in classic what do you think of cross realm battlegrounds?

None of that pertains to anything I said. If Blizzard thought original AV design was pivotal to an authentic Vanilla experience, it would be in Classic.

As it stands, Blizzard thought better of their original design and changed it in the same version of the game it was introduced in. Clearly, Blizzard decided it was either a mistake or bad design. Why else would they change it?

Regardless, PvP is not PvE. You don’t do progression in PvP the same way you do in PvE, and there certainly wasn’t anything similar between Vanilla raids and AV.

Just posting here to let Blizzard know that I agree. Would love to experience the original AV again.

that is due to asian and their rules…about video games

I agree the day old battles were the best. But, here’s some hope this is a video of my guild (Résïduál) and I back in the day on Cho’gall PVP server forcing a turtle fest and forcing the game to go for 2-3 hours. So there is still come hope of prolonged battles, but you have to be organized. We’ve done multiple runs using the 1.12 update and we were able to utilize everything AV had to offer including summoning the Ice Lord.

You should copy and paste this into a new post.

And I couldn’t agree more. It’s hard to describe how great the rivalries were.

And there’s a reason it didn’t exist very long in vanilla, it was never very good.

I thought that was what we were getting with classic. I’m really disappointed to hear it’s not this. Blizzard is missing a huge opportunity by not making AV the insane awesome version that it was during the parts of vanilla you mentioned. Sad.

Why is it all about 1.5 vs. 1.12? There were several iterations in Vanilla. 1.8 was an excellent compromise between PvP and PvE.

I haven’t gone thru and counted every post. But it would seem from this discussion and the others that have been on this forum that most people posting do want a older version of AV. Saying some thing wasn’t very good is subjective to who you ask! I loved old AV. It was way more fun then the drag race that AV becomes.

because over time they took away things that made the fights take forever and added changes to speed it up

you’re out of your mind if you think original av can be played like it is in retail
