How do people feel about xserver BGs and if they should be in Classic?

Well… what I’d like to type here would get my forums privileges revoked, lol.

I understood why they were put in to begin with, because some servers had abysmal queue times. But xserver bgs murdered PvP. It turned every game into a camp-fest, because you had to end the game quickly, so you camped gys while your team either ran or capped flags. (WSG/AB). The server rivalries and feeling of playing with and against people you knew evaporated. Knowing who you were playing against, their habits, and who were the “dangerous” ones really meant something. It even created xfaction friendships.

I often ended up on defence in our WSG base and there was one rogue on horde side that always came after me, trying to figure out where I was stealthed. It was so much fun seeing if he could find me before I had to shoot their flag runner. I don’t remember his name, but I never saw him again after xserver. It became a treat to actually see ANYONE in AV from my server (while pugging).

The worst thing is what xserver BGs did to the grind. It enabled anyone and his brother/roommate/wife/kids to park their characters in AV all day and there was no one to see. The honour gained from quick games and fast queues pushed the total honour needed each week to insane levels. The first GM on Malf was getting about 250,000 - 300,000 a week. By the time I reached 13 we needed 1.5 MILLION. We went from long queues, to an endless chain of games. The total number of hours played never went down. Instead, there was never, ever time for a break. Your preform jumped from game to game to game. Most times we went straight from one BG directly into the next.

On my very last day we ran into the horde preform from our server. One that we knew most of the players. We hadn’t seen them for weeks, and had SO much fun playing against known “faces.” I still remember that game, almost 13 years later.

Xserver took that away.

I think they should be held until Content Patch 6, but they were in Vanilla, so you have to clear a higher bar to remove them.

Im mainly hoping for honor buddy and similiar programs to be heavily monitored for people using them… and ALL R13 and R14 to have their accounts flagged for review incase any sharing/botting etc occurred

End game bracket, not initially. Something to be revisited in the future if queue times lag.

I don’t see any advantage to having cross-realm battlegrounds. Sure, your queue might be shorter, but you’ll run into constant R14 premade grinders.

Single server until que times are greater than a reasonable length. Keep the players base as same server as possible until that isn’t possible.

@ thread… Strongly opposed to Xrealm bgs in classic myself… They where TBC era tech, designed for TBC era content… that simply had to be beta tested in vanilla to ensure functionality with TBC pvp systems.

I’d add that they not only don’t do a damn thing to solve faction imbalance problems, we now have 14 years of evidence that they actually actually make them worse via encouraging faction stacking for WPVP advantage while avoiding longer queu time consequences.

They also suck the life out of the community, as your team stops consisting of “that guy you remember doing that quest chain with in STV” and suddenly becomes “anonymous pugtard #1209203984098, who (if live is any indication) doesn’t even speak your damn language”

CRBG’s are literally community suicide. Turns pvp into mindless rank grind from random people you’ll never see in your life. They were built for BC.

They were not meant for Vanilla, and should not be in. If we won’t get servers without it, I’ll definitely not play.

It’s pretty clear that Blizzard wants to do as little work as possible. Everything is cross realm these days. 1.12 was cross realm. If they were to remove cross realm, it would be going against what their entire platform is built around.

x realm is already confirmed. Was a later patch in vanilla and were starting at a later patch…
