What it is like being a Zerg GM during ProtossCraft II

You still can’t name anyone besides Dark that did better last year. Imagine being so convinced of something that you have no evidence for.

Having your respect is not a positive thing

Don’t believe me? Feel free to listen to this Mathematician, Game Designer, and Starcraft player…

easy. serral and soo. and dark has been massively falling off. not just a little bit underperforming. he actually wasnt really good when the nerf patch hit. weeeeeeeeeeird…

soO won the same amount of tournaments this year that he did last year, 1. And now he’s in the military.

And Serral??? LOL, 2019 wasn’t his best year at all. He completely dominated 2018 and he’s still the best player in the world this year.

omg, Sentry you’re such a . These arguments are so stupid I can’t put up with them anymore. I need to block you for a few months again.

The thing is how serral lost. in 2019 it was mostly about him and reynor…now? not so much

cant deny the fact that now less global premier events are won by zerg (gsl for example) and no one at the highest tier of tournament has a problem with protoss

we actually argue about how much zerg overperforms wheras you want them to overperform as much as possible to match the 2019 overperformance  nice.

This is the one thing that anti-Protoss whiners refuse to answer and cannot answer:

If Protoss is so overpowered and easy, why is it that the most successful players play Zerg or Terran?

Even IF we believe that the reason these top players win more (Serral, Reynor, Rogue, Dark, Maru, Inno, TY) is because they are just better players… why don’t the best players play Protoss? Why dont any of them switch to the “easier” race and win even more?

The idea that “Zerg and Terran players are just better” defies logic and is completely devoid of proof. Anyone can watch the huge APM numbers and feats of skill the top Protoss are capable of. The game is overall very balanced and I dont care if it comforts you to believe that “my race is harder”.

He is not the best player this year, he has won ‘‘only’’ two premier, winning one of them thanks to his record in zvp because he almost lost to Time. Reynor,f or example, has 3 titles and showed a more solid gameplay during this year. But I’m not sure who is the best player of the year, it has been a year with several winners, but I would say Serral is not the best.

Well, if you know the “skill” of a player because you can measure their skill with MMR, why are you bothering to engage in competition? We already know who has won by their MMR, right?

That is what you are saying whenever you say that MMR is a “measure of skill”. You know their skill. You are “ranking” people by how “skillful” they are. Play the game is now a pointless endeavor.

Oh I get it… Today you are 5400 MMR and thus more skilled than that player who is 5300 but then you lose a few games and now you are no longer skillful. You’ve magically stopped knowing how to play the game skillfully and thus you are rated lower. BUT WAIT, the following day you relearned the necessary skill to put you at 5450 MMR. Now you have ALL the l337 5k1llz!!

While true that MMR is a relative indicator of skill (the position of one player compared to others on a scale), you can’t jump to the extreme to say that MMR has no relationship to skill.
Following your sophistry we can even refuse the existence of skill itself. Skill varies with time (actual players are much better than 10 years ago).
Skill should be measured in the context/boundaries of the existing player’s pool, if you rank them; a 7400MMR player is objectively better than a 6800MMR one.
Just because MMR is a relative measurement, it does not follow that does not indicate skill.
BatZ is right.
I have not seen the day9 video, but i am sure that his position has nothing to do with your asinine extremist conclusions.

Where did i say that MNR has absolutely no relationship to a player’s skill?

Of course not because then you would have to acknowledge that you are ralking out of your rear end.

It must be tough playing high level Zerg. Stats took a game off Rogue in the GSL finals and Zest took a game off him in the IEM finals.

Not only that, Stats took TWO games off of Serral in DH finals.

Protoss OPness is getting completely out of hand.

It doesnt measure skill. That doesnt imply that there isnt a relationship between the two.

Does your speedometer on your car measure you car’s mass? No, it doesnt. Does that mean there is no relationship between your cars mass and how fast it can accelerate?

#2 on Earth in earnings for 2020 is a Korean Protoss, which he has accomplished DESPITE Korean Protoss being banned from the majority of tournaments. That Korean Protoss has made more than ANY terran in 2020. The only person who has earned more is Serral, who is protected by the region lock. Time to rectify your beliefs with REALITY.

It is no longer a matter of opinion. Protoss is overpowered. Literally every relevant fact in existence says Protoss is overpowered ranging from # of tournaments won to tournament earnings, grandmaster league representation, grandmaster league win-rates, and beyond!

Yes and he got second in IEM Katowice, by far the largest prize pool in all of SC2, especially now that Blizzcon is gone. It isnt a coincidence that Rogue won first in IEM and has over twice the winnings of Zest.

Im not saying Protoss is doing “bad” but its not like they are dominating anything. If you look at the top 10 players earnings for this year the next one after Zest is Trap at #10 with ~$50K. So lets say $151K for Trap and Zest… Rogue beats that single handedly with $200K winnings. TY and Maru beat that total together (152K) without even considering Inno (66K), Cure (57K), or Clem (55K).

Wrong. Rogue won $150,000 from IEM Katowice ALONE. What reality are you living in?

At least one thing whre we can agree.

Please, physics is not your field. Speedometer is a device for measuring speed. At the end of the day mass of the car has nothing to do with the ultimate maximum velocity of the car, which is strictly determined by:
-Power of the engine.
-Friction of tires with the ground.
-Aerodynamic profile of the car (the drag coeffiicent).

There are differential equations that measure the limit velocity of the car. i won’t bother the forum with them.

Ah, by the way, how fast a car accelerates has nothing to do with the speed that a car achieves.

He is second place in earnings for 2020. He has earned more than any Terran player. He did this despite having less access to tournaments. The claim that Protoss are struggling in the pro scene is blatantly false.

This is blatantly false. Rogue won $150,000 from IEM Katowice ALONE. What reality are you living in?

A Protoss is second place in tournament earnings. Protoss win the majority of tournaments. They do this despite the best protoss players having severely limited access to tournaments. Protoss is dominating the pro scene.
