Hello, poor souls!
From what I’ve seen, there are only 3 possible options for you and today’s problem:
- Spam your login and password 15 times until the server finally gives up and lets you in. I don’t recommend going past this number, as going over implies this method is not working for you. Move on to the next one.
- Select the KR server (yep, it still functions) and then log in. You should get the character creation pop-up. Cancel it and select your preferred server (EU or US), then log in to your account. Still not working for you? Oh boy…
- You’ve got to wait for the Blizzard folks to fix their servers. This is not your fault, you can’t do anything from your side now, sorry. The problem seems to target people who had to download TWO game updates at ONCE (which means everyone, who had an extensive break from the game).
Just jumping in here to boost that I’m also having this issue, and none of the attempted fixes have worked. I can log into EU and KR, but not NA
blizzard wont be reaching out on the forums. they never do, the only time blizzard ever offically post anything its about a new patch update and thats it, and as of the last patch they even stopped doing that. Your on the forums, which is a player to player discussion site, it is not player to blizzard. we players are the ones trying to help you people cause its all you got. even levathin himself is just another player, but unlike the rest of us he has a way to contact blizzard and pass along messages. you are all sitting here acting like this site is a direct message link to blizzard and its not. if yall want to contact blizzard directly, you need to go to blizzard support and open a ticket, other wise your talking to other players, who are going out of there way to help you people, and your getting mad at them for helping. and frankly this is getting real old listen to people yell at us and complain when all were doing is trying to help.
also good luck with opening a support ticket, as blizzard support has been nothing but copy and past responses for the last 3 years or so.
So all we can do is just wait until they solve that issue?
Hello everyone. I also can’t connect to any Starcraft 2 game server. I get an error message: “Battle.net server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.” But if I intentionally enter the wrong password when trying to log in again, the error message will be different. Therefore, I conclude that the password check is successful, but for some reason it doesn’t let me into the server.
Same for me. Not able to connect to US and EU servers. KR is working for me.

I’ve gone over the forums and found a… Fix that doesn’t work for me but has been for a good amount of people. People have been able to “brute force” the log in by continuing over and over to log in, cancelling the authentication randomly apparently it works? I’ve tried it for 30 minutes and clearly wasn’t working. I’m still trying it as I write this in desperate hope that people say it’s just random and I’m being unlucky right now.
I’ve gone to support about my issue, stating the amount of people with this problem and all the fixes that have been stated which did not work in case they tried to tell me to do those. I got a reply in 5 minutes by Game Master Rosthdra saying there supposedly was a recent fix applied in-game for this issue and to look at " support.blizzard. com/article/000305860 " and if the problem persists, to come back to the community so someone in the technical team can see my problem and verify stuff I guess.
I’m a little lost at hope for playing the game again which sucks cause I bought quite a few things for this game and had played this game since probably childhood and even have still active friends who only play StarCraft and it’d suck that I can’t play with them anymore.
Same for me. Just reinstalled and it isn’t letting me play at all. I opened a ticket and it was auto-closed with an auto-reply with steps I tried already.
It’s unfortunate to see that this has been going on for weeks with no resolution. I don’t want to play offline, I want to play 2s with my friend.
i’m able to log into KR, and have tried to bruteforce the NA login for 2 hours with no luck.
Yeah same here, i can login to KR fine but no EU or NA login (brit here) had a back and forth with support and they were utterly useless, just bounced between different “GMs” that kept throwing support articles at me, full reinstalled, tried every troubleshoot i could find. Nothing.
The same is with me - few hours ago I can log to KR, no EU or US. Maybe that is some kind of progress.
You youngins might not understand or even know about this, but this is why the player base SCREAMED at the fact that Blizzard was going “always online” when Starcraft II came out. I can’t even just play a single game with bots because something is wrong with the authentication process. Very Very dumb.
I have this issue too. I see ‘There is a temporary outage of the Battle.net service.’ whenever I try to log into EU or NA server. I’ve been playing on all three servers in 2024 so I’m amazed I get this issue too. (From the pattern, it looks like the server is mainly limiting access from inactive players.)
I already have a character in every server, so the cancel-new-character-creation can’t work for me.
I’ve tried spamming logins. It didn’t work for me.
I cannot log into EU and NA. This bug would show up.
I cannot log into KR either now. It would require a captcha but the captcha image is always blank white. I can’t get pass that.
I have a tournament to run in 4 days and I have to be the observer on different servers.
Is it possible that this issue get resolved in a week?
If not, our tournament is in danger I fear…
Or should we make a bunch of new accounts and try distribute them to players&staff.
I bought all three games at launch. For weeks now, it will not allow me enter US. I can launch but it always comes back to that message “There is a temporary outage…”
This is NOT temporary if this goes on for a MONTH. There needs to be an actual solution implemented. I “scan and repair” yet there are no issues noted with the files.

I attempted this approach and it gave me the error ‘ERROR in the yellow box’. I’m not sure if I did all the steps correctly. Is it other-region-online → other-region-logout → main-region-offline → login?
When I try to log into NA I get error.
(Internet connection should be alright.)
HOT TAKE! SO! after trying 5 hours of my life yesterday to try and get into the game from this “temporary bnet unavailability” problem, i finally got in.
i was able to play on KR server so i made the assumption that it wasn’t a permissions issue… then i tried the beta thing, nope. made sure ptr wasn’t in there and it wasn’t. then i tried brute forcing for 30 mins, nope. then i tried installing ptr =D nope. so then for the hell of it i did permissions crap and nope, i even turned off firewall to see if that’d work, nope. so then after opening a ticket telling them “hey i can play on KR but not US at 200 ping if i really wanted to” and i got a typical copy pasta fixit list where
#1 was … “MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT REGION SELECTED!” like… wtf, hello?! so i double checked i was on US and KR … ofcourse =D nope.
#2 ran repair, nope.
#3 ran virus scan, nope.
#4 make a new admin account on computer, nope.
#5 windows hosts file, nothing blizz related in it but reset it anyway, nope.
#6 modem/router firmware updates, nope.
#7 reinstall. sc2 was never on this PC before as it is 3 months old, didn’t work
#8 go to the forums XD
Tried periodically for 10-20 mins a time to brute force, but then it was raid time in wow so i gave up =D
This morning i tried again for 30 mins to brute force >:) cuz i just wanna game with my friend! still didn’t work. So i tried removing permissions to anything bnet/sc2 related, nope.
So then my brain said “what if i tried logging in on the computer i know i’ve played on before” so i went to storage, got the PC booted it up, updated SC2 AND BOOM! “temporary bnet outage” but then i went back to new PC to try brute forcing again and i got in on the first try -_- so the hot take is … just try logging in on another computer then go back to the one you wanna play on =D
It is working now - I can play the game without any problem. Maybe they fixed it.

When you attempted the offline launch (after logging into KR), did you disable your internet? That’s a necessary step for offline play. SC2 must not find an internet connection when it launches in order to prompt offline mode.
That said, someone above said it’s working for them now. Give it another try normally just in case it’s been fixed.

It is working for me as well, now. On the first try after not attempting for 14 or so hours.
Leviathan, you may not be a Blizzard employee but since you escalated/passed on this issue to them earlier, I assume you have a connection to blizzard that we don’t. Can you confirm the reason for the outage, like Jambrix did in the earlier thread?

Unfortunately I can’t.
Jambrix was an employee in the technical support dept so they had access to a lot of information.
However, MVP’s aren’t privy to anything that goes on behind the scenes at the development level (and Bliz won’t tell us because we are not employees).
When I report anything to Bliz, I submit it and (usually) get confirmation that it was received, but that’s were my involvement essentially ends.
But! Thanks for the report of it working for you. Hopefully it’s working for everyone too.

I was able to log in to US just now. Maybe we made enough noise to get someone to actually look at it.
